Have two of these and would get another if I needed one (time to hand in my OZbargain license). Good quality and never had any issues.

    • time to hand in my OZbargain license

Why's that? At this price it seems like these should be the ozb dashcam of choice
      Are they not so good?

      • +6

Because I’m refraining from an impulse buy lol

  • +1

but for those who needed now

You mean in 1 to 3 months..

    • Just got a watch delivered from Aliexpress, delivery was 2 weeks.

      • Wow that’s quick. Maybe they have upped their game

        • +2

The sellers upped their game* Ditched China Post for Cainiao who are cheap and fast.

  • Why does the BlackVue cost 10x as much?

    • +1

      🤷

my kickstarter 70mai has been going strong for years.

  • Shipping is only available through China, bringing the price up to $51.62 :(

How are these anyway? I need a dashcam and I'm a cheapo, so this price looks good.
I've only ever used the old bluesky b1w, are these about the same?

  • +2

Are these battery or capacitor ?.

    • +1

      Battery

    • Need a decent capacitor version..

      • Why?

        • +2

          QLD heat. Batteries don't last.

          • @illz: Really? I’ve never heard of that. Got any more info? Genuinely curious

            • +1

@Slippage: Yeah, batteries expand under constant extreme heat, can even explode..
I've never seen them explode but have had them all die from heat stroke relatively quickly.

This is why you never leave phones, laptops etc in a hot car.

          • @illz: Such claims made me nervous buying my last cam, which was for the rear window of a Prado parked outdoors in full sun everyday.

The plastic mount broke after a couple of years, but the battery seemed fine.

    • 240mAh lipo battery. Not great in summer.

  • +2

Have been using one of these for a longtime. It's the only one that hasn't failed in the Australian summer! Would highly recommend.

Bought mine 3 years ago, still going strong

  • Does this feature a reversing cam?

    • No it’s a single unit front facing. Buy another one and install it at your rear.

  • +1

I have the first gen for over 3 years now. Nil issues encounter so far. Had to reformat the SD card at times but other than that, it’s pretty reliable.

  • +1

Don't get 70mai. Unlike ddpai, these use lipo batteries to cut costs. ddpai, Blackvue and many others use super capacitors. Lipos don't mix well with Aussie summer heat. The ddpai Mini 2S I got is 1440p and 140 degree angle.

  • Any suggestions for a good microsd to go along with it?

  • i assume if we park the car with the machine off, it wont record any bump accident cause by other vehidle, since it was battery lighter powered ?

  • Just installed 1 for the front and 1 for the back in the 2nd car. Good quality! Supercool voice activated commands to take picture or emergency video.

WiFi connection was simple. Very happy with them.

Now to wait for the BlackVue to install into the daily car…almost tempted to buy 2 more of these 70mai 1S units as backup units to the BlackVue - but that means I have big brother in my car. Lol

    • that means I have big brother in my car

      Better that than Gretel Killeen

  • When selecting Poland or Russia, says doesn't ship to Australia. Any way around that as OP says to select those.

    • +1

Oh my bad. My apologies OP. I’ll fix it now.
If you select China, price will be around $51.69

  • Mine arrived today but I am having problem with the SD card. SO far tried 3 different class 10 card and the device asks to replace all of them. Anyone experienced this problem? I am using 64GB card. Cheers

    • Bought 2x and arrived. Both tested with 32gb sd card…and working as it should be. Have you tried formatting the card within the app settings?

      • Sure did. :)

    • I put in a Samsung EVO 128GB (new model) from the last JB Hifi deal and no issues. Check what class your cards are - maybe time for an upgrade.
