Knew GTA V would come to the cloud before the Switch. Too bad it isn't on PC, although Epic has filled that gap :).

GTA V Online is a bit of a trainwreck in terms of feeling cobbled together and not being especially fun.

    • He’s right though. It’s entirely adhoc design. It’s slow as duck. Getting bullied is common. Theming is ruined by magic flying motorbikes that are always used to waste you. It’s kinda sucks sometimes

Bought GTA V not long after it left Game Pass last time on a super sale. But the cloud version is very welcome, I'll give it a whirl on the xCloud app on my Chromebook.

Xbox is legitimately putting more games on my Chromebook than Google Stadia lmao.

    • How's the streaming quality on the Chromebook? Streaming xCloud to my Samsung 10+ felt 720p-ish with noticeable lag and I'm on an enterprise-grade internet connection. Played games like Forza Horizon 4 and Ori.

      • I've not done it much. The battery in my 2014 Chromie died the other week and the missus bought me this newer Lenovo Chromie, I never play games on computers, all I've done on here is installed the PPSSPP emulator since I have Play Store now and xCloud for the shit of it.

The little I've done, I've done on 2 radically different connections.

At home, I canned my Telstra internet a month or two ago and rely on Felix mobile's unlimited 20mbs plan being hotspotted to everything. On that, I've played maybe 10 minutes of Just Cause 4 to check out how it runs, no real problems. If there's lag, it's not game crippling by any means. I flew around for a few minutes, shot some shit, and quit. Ran fine for me.

At her's, she's got the NBN, idk like 80 down 40 up or something, I don't really know. It's (profanity) flawless for the little bit I played there. This is obviously all anecdotal and piss all of a sample size, but yeah, runs shockingly well. Only complaint is I can't use the keyboard for games, don't get me wrong, I'm a console boy through and through, but more than anything, I'm a guy who doesn't want to have to cart around or plug in extra shit to play my stuff.

I'll definitely give GTA a bit of a go over the weekend via xCloud though, so I'll get back to you in a couple days.

        • Thanks for sharing. That's good to know. Perhaps Microsoft allocated me a machine that was far away from where I was as it was during peak time and I did have to retry several times over 2 hours before being getting a "seat".

Let me know how you go with GTA if you get a chance ;)

@frankfu1122: Will do, my man. I got a gig on tonight and then work tomorrow, but I'm interested to give xCloud at least a small sesh, while I have no real interest in gaming on my phone or computer, I'm always interested in this new schtick. Would be cool if down the line it works so well that they do release the long rumoured streaming only Xbox as like a lil HDMI dongle for piss cheap.

Game Pass changes the landscape quite a bit, but a machine you can just plug into your tele, that's the size of one of those slim 200ml Cokes or something, and you can stream hundreds of games instantly for like 15 a month? That shit could change everything.

Me burning rented PS1 games on that old Windows 2000 computer as a youngin would shit his (profanity) pants if he knew the shit going on these days.

  • Most people already own this game twice

    • All 5 versions for me here. Though PC was free via Epic (don't have a PC anyway lmao), 360 was free off a buddy, and Xbone was like 8 or 9 bucks on sale. I will admit I bought both PS3 and PS4 day one though, 60 a piece.

Do we count the free GTA Online PS5 port as version 6 when it comes out for me, or nah? I won't bother buying the game on PS5 or X|S until it's 20 or less, or unless we finally get the fabled single player DLC we all know we'll never get.

  • Waiting for a next gen release for GTA V. Gimme that sweet sweet 60fps

    • Probably 1080p 60FPS or 4K 30FPS on PS5 and XBOX SX…

  • Any way to transfer saves between PS4 and XSX with the Rockstar club / cloud saves?
