I just ordered the PDFs. You don't need a real email or phyical address. Download links will appear after completing 'purchase'. Curious if the download links are personalised or not. Mine start with:

    C64: https://fusionretrobooks.com/a/downloads/-/09XXXXXXXXXXXX
    Amiga: https://fusionretrobooks.com/a/downloads/-/bcXXXXXXXXXXX

If anyone can confirm they're generic, I'd be happy to post the full URLs here.

Mine are different so it's not generic.

This was posted as a general post. Neither of the book titles appear in the title of the post or in the description.
You will find many examples here where someone posts a sale, even puts the games in the description (in a long list) and it is perfectly okay to post the games not mentioned in the title as a separate post.
If someone was looking for C64, with a general sale or freebie, you would never find it as not mentioned in title or description.
In case you (and the other people shouting dupe) have not noticed, I am referring to the other post myself in my description- but I suppose you have not read it.

There's also many examples where posts have merged back to the original by mods because they literally are the same deal. Because according to this logic, we can end up with up to 24 posts with every book on this list.

I can understand for example - ebay 20% off post, where different vendors exist under the ebay banner.
        or
TGG/Bing Lee 20% sale, one vendor, but very specifically different products with mark down of prices individually.

These would work as separate bargain posts and refers back to the original offer.

This is all the same page, same vendor offering and all items are FREE. Nothing to differentiate it from one to the other.

You still cannot find anything as there is not even one book title in the title or the description. Can you please provide one such example where a post has been merged even though the original post was only mentioning a sale without any examples in title or description?

          • @Lysander: Here's an example of a merge (ironically, ebook related):

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/450639

If there was a problem with descriptive in the original post, then the mods can also change this to reflect the deal (or ask the original poster to do so).

            • +1

@bchliu: That was merged because the poster made two posts for the same store within minutes.
Also, the difference is that there the posts at least have some indication in title (vegan) and the book titles in the description.
So that example really is not any evidence for what you think should happen.
In fact, I believe the site rules clearly indicate and allow specific posts.

          • +1

@Lysander: The original post says 24 various PDFs for Spectrum, Amiga and Commodore which is description enough.

Should they have listed every individual system or create separate posts for each one incase there was someone who didn't know that the Commodore 64 is Commodore?

This is clearly a duplicate post.

            • -1

@Freezies: Clearly not. Have a look at how many books involving the C64 there are.
If I made a post saying "1137 Steam games in sale" and in description wrote "Games from SE, Devolver, and Bethesda on sale" people would complain about that.
In fact, most other sites even demand at least one specific example in title, the same way "up to 70% off" titles without at least one example are not allowed.
Also, it is actually in rules I believe.

And if we are detailed: the books are not FOR Spectrum etc., they are ABOUT Spectrum etc.

I still remember this was the personal computer to get. Every computer store had its advertising plastered on their window displays.

  • C64 Deserve its own post 😁 leave it on
