90k pts for $4k spend is getting up there, these deals arent as good as they used to be, for sure.

  • 250 Mastercard + $50 Velocity Fee

A $50 Velocity fee? Not sure I like the way this is going….

    • It's been standard for years. Qantas points will incur the same fee. Can avoid it by getting a card that only earns Altitude points

  • ANZ has 120k Qantas for $225 which beats out this deal…

    • Apples and oranges comparison though.

As a side note, would jump on OP deal if velocity was still on Star alliance. Want them krisflyer points :(

Virgin Australia has never been part of any alliance. However there was a bilateral arrangement that allowed for transfer of points between Velocity and KrisFlyer.

        • Ya true. But you know what i was trying to say :D i now have 130K VFF stuck. Would rather it sit in KFF.

          • @starburstyellow: If the points transfer option still existed it could have been interesting with Earn Singapore Airlines Gold Status Without Flying.

            • @UrMumsOnlyFan: Wow that would have been good. I did a huge dump of Velocity and St George few months back. I transfered over 250K at the time so would have easily gotten the Gold. Only issue is, since ive been Flying J, i dont really care too much on the perks of Gold, because I do get lounge and weight benefits of flying J. Still hopeful to fly in Dec 21 :( tickets booked to Japan.

@starburstyellow: Lucky you in J. I'm always slumming it so Gold is invaluable.

Signs aren't looking too good for this year but hopefully it goes better than expected. Interestingly, Loophole means Australians can travel to other countries via NZ, though there is of course still a quarantine requirement and bubbles can pop at any moment.

                • @UrMumsOnlyFan: ah gotcha. Ya I did well for last few years. Have been flying J 2-3 times a year for last 5 years. Just a rotation between Amex, St George, Citi etc. while collecting QF on the side.

yeah issue is im in Perth, WA very strict on the reentry. Not gonna risk it. And also now with the Pfizer switch over, doubt we can stick to the Federal covid rollout timetable by Oct now.

  • $250 annual fee kills the deal

Don't support offers with such an annual fee…..it really diminishes the value of the points.
