  • Free SIM Cards has an ABN, 35 620 794 096 which it shares with Sim Planet. Sim Planet is a stall at Sydney Airport. Possibly why the addresses are similar.

  • Given people have received their cards from previous deals, there is no issue of receiving the product especially when it is free. Free Sims Received: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6

        • It ain't a coincidence.

          • @scuderiarmani: Did you receive calls?

            • +1

@beeeeeej: I received spam calls after providing my details too. Definitely not a coincidence.

        • One word: Facebook

      • FreeSimcards might not sell our details but given the weak security of their website, data breach is a potential.

I never even get email from them, waste of time.

Wow got one of these free cards last night and all of a sudden I’ve started getting spam calls this evening.

Had this number for over 6 months and not had a spam call before tonight. Coincidence or not, I’m very suspicious.

  • got the sim card which expiries 01/03/21. anybody got such expired sh1t? does it work?

    • Where is the Expiry date. Must be going blind?

      • bottom edge of the cover, beneath the sneaky sticky white tag.

          Hi @kensai,
You can still activate the sim cards within 2 months of expiry dates. please let us know if you are not able to active it.

Also, It be great and appreciated if you post negative comments after trying activation. Hope you will enjoy $30 free sim.

          • @FreeSIMCards: Yeah, thanks for confirming.
SIM Cards are funny and suspect it comes down to the carrier? I have Simcards that Expired last Aug (Vodafone in this case) and activated one just last week (much to my surprise still worked). Some work others don't.

        • +1

Yeah, mine is the same 01/03/21. I was going to say "not happy" but didn't pay anything so won't!. I don't plan on using until 27/05/21 which is when I will need to purchase a new subscription which requires a new Mobile number.

@OP: Based on what you noted (can be activated only up to two months from expiry. If that's the case then this Expires on 01/05/21. Your Ad noted that SIMS need to be activated before 31/05/21 which suited my need well BUT not if it expires on 01/05/21

          Can you confirm please?

Late Addition: Actually even if I do activate on 01/05, it will still work for me as it will be still be active to use for my needs on 27/05. All should be well :-)

  • Got my Sim today exp 12/5 thanks op

I can't activate the sim card after I select the plan , Optus activation says, We're unable to process your recharge request at the moment. Please try again later. Reference: PPACT-CHARGE-006

I had the same problem, went on live chat & they activated it for me.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: thanks watch nerd they activated within minutes

        • weird…i had that error 2 days ago when i tried to activate and port over. hopped on chat and optus rep said something like they're "upgrading their plans."

          • @tdw: must be an optus error

  • I can confirm I got mine too today so it turns our all good, credit where credit's due.

  • Got my SIM today

    Thank you

  • Mine came in today. However, did notice that it was already opened, and the expiry date is 01/03/21 (as specified by few users here).

Think is likely that they're giving these free SIMs away as they are already expired / almost expired, and as a sign of goodwill instead of throwing them away.

Will try to activate the SIM next week and hopefully it still works.

    • Likewise mine was opened. Don't care as long as it works on 30/04 when I activate otherwise I'll be looking for a refund :-)

      • +2

Just activated mine today. Zero issue

  • Got mine yesterday, 11/5 expiry date.

  • My SIM card never arrived.

  • +1

Mine arrived but it has been opened. Is there anything to be suspicious of knowing someone’s obviously opened it for a reason and probably wrote down the sim number?

I posted earlier about getting my first spam call on my number I gave these guys the day after ordering this free sim, and I’ve since been getting texts in Chinese characters from Hong Kong numbers, so I’ll probably bin this sim and get a new number for my phone too.

    • Didn't get the sim yet, but also no spam calls either.

  • Mine says 11/5 Expiry.

Can I still activate it before 11/7 ?

  • +2

Mine has been opened as well. Dodgy

  • +2

Got mine today. Expiry: 01.03.21. Package has been opened.

  • +1

Got a confirmation when I placed the order. Got the sim card in my mail today on the 20th. The expiry is 11th of May, for a free sim that's pretty good I think. It came in a well sealed envelope. Thanks OP

Edit: I just read the comment about activation from 2 months of expiry. That's pretty awesome.

  • i received mine, it has a sticker over the expiry date of 01.03.21 is mine expired? I don't want to activate it now, saving for a snow trip in 2-3 months

    • +2

The sim must be activated before 31/05/2021 to get the $30 value.

      • +1

        cheers

  • Mine arrived open, and also expired (had a sticker over the expired date).

Not sure about you guys, but I had a very high increase of spam and marketing calls (on my burner number, fortunately) after providing my details.

I dont think I going to use the card, very dodgy that most people got an open sim.

    • No sim yet, but no any spam either.

  • got mine yesterday. was partially opened, but not enough to see the whole sim card number. expiry date is 11/5/2021. works out for me since i need to port out from kogan after 2/5

    • Ditto! I got mine yesterday too but completely open.

Based on my past experience as an ex Optus sales person, having the SIm card number doesn't mean anything. It's not like they can access anything so an open pack is irrelevant.

      • yeah the sim card itself was still intact within the bigger card so it wasn't like someone popped it out to activate it and shoved it back in.

      • I am concerned about SIM Hijacking i.e. if Unsealed and one knows the SIM card number, I believe that it's possible with the right tools to apply this number to another SIM card. It's the implications of this that is a concern especially if they know your Name and address which in this instance may well be the case as it was posted out.

Perhaps I need a tin foil hat (not sure) as am not fully across what can and cannot be done with ones Sim Card number being in the wrong persons hands…………
