  • Free SIM Cards has an ABN, 35 620 794 096 which it shares with Sim Planet. Sim Planet is a stall at Sydney Airport. Possibly why the addresses are similar.

  • Given people have received their cards from previous deals, there is no issue of receiving the product especially when it is free. Free Sims Received: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6

  • Allegations of releasing information to 3rd parties? Well, while concerning, that's something a lot of sites do including cashback sites, freebies, comps posted here so it's up to you to protect your information.

  • Ordered. Thanks!

  • OP. On your website it says 2h 30mins left of this deal. But on this post you have put it 2 days.

100% correct. Who in the world will sell optus $30 cards for free? No buisness will take the $30 hit per customer unless its A hugh company like optus, tel, coles, woolworth rtc…

no way to try it again since the first one "went" through but no OTP.

        Hi Rep
After all this patience it said cannot place order as you had placed an order in last 30 days, checked I had placed it on 9th Mar doesn’t that mean that it’s over 30 days. Any clues?
        Cheers

        • +1

1 day and a few hours left, I assume.

      • As someone who works in the field.. what exactly is going on? Is your SMTP server overloaded? Is it properly caching the jobs that are being sent and not processed?
I don't much care for detail farming methods and this feels like one. Even the coding on the submissions page is the new type that captures it live instead of on POST.

        Time for some whois'in

        • Or perhaps running on a home server that blocks reqs?

        • +8

sangeethnairmails* *.com - registrant email that wasnt hidden by WHOIS guard, theyve been around since 2018 under the kangaroo name and have recently changed and got very active.
No linkedin for owner, email seems to be named after a popular indian actress.

The whole setup seems extremely unprofessional.
          This is a detail/marketing farm.
          edit: NEGGED. I'm confident now.

          • +3

@dfaktz: The domain isn't even setup properly.. Its a 5minute hack job to steal details.

            <div class="Offcanvas_footer">
            <span><a href="#"><i class="fa fa-envelope-o"></i> [email protected]</a></span>
            <ul>

We need more or better educated mods, It feels bad walking into such an obvious situation hours after people have given them so many details.
Place of business is listed as just apartments 36/629 Gardeners Rd Mascot NSW 2020
The "Live chat" box is offline and MUST require a phone number to start chat, LOL.

            • @dfaktz: Excellent spot, thanks mate. How did you find the registrant email and other dodgy info? These wisdom will be useful for future scam detection.

              • +3

@Newgod: If its an Australian registered domain, whois.auda.org.au generally gives out more info than others, but if not, you can also try looking at cached versions of whois pages, whoisguard/protect is never really perfect.. for scammers anyway.
The rest is just checking out the source code of the site when I got suss about the live chat box REQUIRING a phone number to submit.
There's example/junk code everywhere, this would be cleaned up if they were a professional operation.
They used a template and barely done a thing, I mean, look at their about page.. rofl.
"Free SIM Cards started in 2017 at Sydney International Airport"

            • @dfaktz: Time will tell.
If I get a free SIM that works great. If not, no drama's as have not given out any personal details or address that I am worried about.

            • -1

@dfaktz: Mods jump on you only if you are politically incorrect these days.

              • +1

@Laziofogna: Yeah, I apparently got dealt with faster than the post. Though, OzB politics is what has kept it down so long, could be a household name by now, I gave up on doing their discord a while ago.
Oh how I wish the upvote/downvote system wasn't anonymous.

I've definitely seen much more sinister jokes allowed, his heavily downvoted post still allowed (that looks very bad, shows people that mods have seen ALL the reports in the top, but reacted to just a couple about.. bad words or inappropirate.. is there financial gain in this post staying up?) but when I joked to jump off a bridge, since he doesn't read the replies (thats basically the joke, mods).

      • Nope, still not working.

  • +6

For anyone wondering how they cover the fee, selling your info is one option, my free sim was spammed with marketing calls, donation, random Chinese stuff.
Well, it’s free so can’t complain much, just never use them as my main number.

Edit: as a warning, don’t enter real phone number in the request form, I was dumb doing this and it was spammed too. Not sure if it’s because of freesim but very suspicious.

    • +3

Not worth it. Just look for a deal in woolworths or coles.

    • +2

Generally, if you're not paying for a product or service, YOU are the product.

People are too gullible when it comes to free/cheap things, human greed.

      • -3

You mean like when we all use Google, WE are the product?!! You sir are obviously a conspiracy theorist. Or paranoid.
