Not saying this deal is bad, but shows how good the XPS deal was a few weeks back. Wish I jumped on it

Also shows how AU suppliers and/or retailers struggle to buy in effective quantities and secure best pricing. At this point, given the history of it all, I strongly suspect incompetence.

I also got howled for pointing out to get the Dell option instead of the Alienware… absolute muppets paying Dell/Alienware tax plus the premium for a crappy SFF build.

This is a much better deal. Just bought it yesterday

YES, we agree as well. The focus on this post is that we have stock on hand. Pick up is welcome if you like to pick up in next couple of days.

Virco are a good option if you are willing to pay $100-$200/- more for quick turnaround.

I just bought a machine from them. Ordered on Easter Sunday and it was despatched within 48hrs.

The $35/- delivery fee (to Darwin) was a nice surprise. Expected delivery on Tuesday.

That's quite the premium for quick turnaround. As other commentors have mentioned, you may as well buy a 3080 system for this price. Not including delivery.

Fair enough if you are willing to wait upto 4-6 weeks for it to arrive.

Virco and Techfast cater to different sections of the market. It is a good thing that different consumers have options based on their priorities. We all win in the long run.

Feel jealous to those bought Alienware R11 combo - just $3500

    • +2

The current alienware is not so different. With cashrewards or similar cashback it's barely over $3000 if you didn't need those particular peripherals:

What I meant was a much better deal as that comes with 3080

        • +2

Agreed, it sounded like you were writing in the past tense, just saying a 3080 deal is still available if willing to pay a few hundred more than this virco

          • @daffyd: Pls forgive my poor english

  • GPU prices still crazy.
Why can’t the manufacturer make more?
Unless they do this on purpose to increase their profit margins?

    • +3

I believe the chipset manufactor already do their best to pump out as much as graphic card as possible.

However, they can not keep up the rate of people buying for mining purpose.

Till today, we still have lot of enquiry from everywhere asking for buying more than one GPU.

We try to keep the stock fair and square, that whoever buying the computer is for gaming purpose.

      • why are the GPUS so high demand than ever before? Is it because of the bitcoin boom?

        • Yeah pretty much. Also COVID stopped a lot of manufacturing in a short period & they've been playing catch up, whilst demand is also unticked by crypto miners.

    • Manufacturers need to effectively lock down the bios so mining is not profitable. We should see this in the Ti series.
