    Thanks OP, got one.

Went with Zip pay (and already fixed up the balance) to avoid the fees, assume Centrecom have to pay them big commission, so not sure why they offer that as a free txn when they charge 1.5% on a standard credit card.

Seems to be a B-Tier psu. Ok price but not exceptional.

$119 is a good price for a gold fully modular 750W PSU. There are PSUs for $119 that are 550-750W, bronze rated and semi modular or non modular.

Some PSUs are overpriced so buy this one isn't a very compelling argument. For reference I got my v750 V2 for ~$130.

Anyway, the pros of this PSU is the efficiency and voltage regulation. The cons (why it's B-tier are):

        • Cheap, sleeve bearing fan that's noisy at high loads.
        • No silent mode.
        • Cheap capacitors.
        • Very short warranty duration (likely due to the fan and capacitors, it's not built to last).

So if the aforementioned doesn't matter to you, sure buy it. I would personally prefer to spend a little bit more and get something that will last a lot longer.

Just to clarify, warranty is 5 years in Australia which is quite standard.

          • @Zwitterion: Gold, 750w in the price bracket this PSU usually sells at is generally 7-10 years.

          • +1

@Zwitterion: I replace my psu every 4 to 5 years anyway. I don't trust a psu over 5 years no matter how much I pay for it. I'm due this Christmas (4th year) to replace my coolermaster gx650 with a 750w hopefully get a stupid GPU then too. F U crypto miners if you read this buying all the GPUs. Lol

            • @mckayver: Buy a good one and it will last 10+ years. If you overclock, buy a higher wattage one so the PSU is not straining, that's all you need. Replacing every 5 years is overkill.

I do like the 0 RPM fan mode on higher end PSUs.

The 3 year warranty is for NA. AU is 5 year warranty.

          • @Twix: It's even worse with sleeve bearing fans. This PSU can't have a 0 rpm mode because the poor quality capacitors will get too hot. Which means the sleeve bearing fan will wear out even quicker, unlike the 0 rpm models which could probably get away without dual ball/hydro bearings for most users.

It's a bit similar as to how the higher end mobos get the biggest heat sinks, even though with the better VRMs the heatsinks become unnecessary and they're really just there to look nice.

According to the SKU and pictures (number of PCI-E connectors), this is the latest iteration, which uses Rubycon and Nippon Chemi-Con capacitors, i.e Japanese. Warranty is 5 years, which imo is hardly a "very short warranty duration".

V750 V2 for $130 is a great deal, but if I were in need of a PSU, this seems to nail pretty much all the essentials at a great price.

@Chewiebacca: Honestly I'm having a hard time finding info on the V3. There is a tear down on the V2 which uses Rubycon and Nippon Chemi-con but no internals of the V3. There is also quite a substantial weight difference in V3 (1.31 kg) compared to V2 (1.58 kg).
That being said, I bought one and will probably open it up to see what's inside.

    thanks got one also :)

  • So you have to remove some stickers to disassemble the case and I couldn't be bothered. I received V3.1.

Peeking in from the vents though, there is a single (big) capacitor on the primary side which is a Nippon Chemi-con 450V 560uF(? Top half cut off but can guess).
The rest of the capacitors are split between Unicon and what I believe are Teapo (no angle to see manufacturer. Capacitors are greenish with yellow text). No idea on connector side.

Inductors/coils and most capacitors (that I can see) have adhesives on them which would probably help with coil whine and vibrations.
Noise wise, I can't say as my other fans are louder.

  • Showing as $149 for me ..
