[Kogan First] Dual Laser Garage Parking Guide $14.99 (Was $29.99) Delivered @ Kogan

100

$14.99 delivered with Kogan First, $19.99 without. I paid similar on AliExpress so a great deal for local stock. Runs on 3x AA batteries or 5V power adapter. I have had mine for a while and works great would definitely recommend it.

  • How does this stick to the roof?

  • Any idea how long the battery would last? Assuming leaving and returning twice a day.

    • Not sure as I have mine connected to a power adapter.

      From Product Spec:
      Power: Battery Life 6 months

When driving find a reference point in your car, then in the garage. Ex. front mirror in car - line with bricks in garage.

Then always line both reference points when parking.

Issues may occur when your seat is moved.

Yeah, if you learnt how to drive wouldn't want to buy this and save money. One question for the people who buy this, " How do you park the car elsewhere without this contraption ? "

    • +1

or get the Aldi Wheel Stopper for $10, currently on special buy. Useful if occasionally you put something in the garage temporarily, e.g. kids bicycle. Then it can be positioned so you won't accidentally hit that bicycle.

  • are the laser guide suppose to shot onto the ground or just middle of the car. the pictures are not vert clear with two lasers pointing out of the device thanks.

and how bright are these lasers, because my garage has 9 LED downlights and id be worried the red lines are not strong enough to view when my lights are on

    • The laser guides are adjustable and very bright.

    • +1

I have mine pointing so they line up with the dash of the car - as I'm driving in, once I see them on the dash, I stop :-)
They are pretty bright - I have a couple of 12W led lights (about 1m long each) that turn on when I drive in and I can still see the lasers clearly.

Thanks OP, can you please share the mains power adaptor that is suitable for this device? I have a spare power socket where I want to install this device so trying to avoid the inconvenience of changing batteries.

    • +1

The one I purchased on AliExpress included the power adapter, so it may already be included. If not, it's the same as this

      • Thanks OP!

  • Not sure why a parking guide is needed when the car is parked in the middle of a huge empty garage.

These are great to keep your cat amused whilst away…

This model works well if you have two cats.

    • But if the cats chase the lasers, then they're in the way - how do you back the car in?

      • +5

how do you back the car in?

        Put it in reverse.

A low tech way is to hang tennis balls from the roof.

    • -1

      That’s what she said

    • +1

Or a board / bump on the garage floor. Have been using that for years with no problem.
Or mark on wall where you want to stop, etc.
Depends on how you want to use the garage.

      • I have a brick where the left front wheel sits. Bump into it. All good. It's over on the wall side, so doesn't get tripped over if the car's not in the garage.

  • Says that it turns on when your garage door is open. How does it know when the door is open?

    • -1

It’s a bit misleading but I believe the sensor detects light and turns on the dual lasers when the garage door/roller door opens. The sensor will eventually fail after a few years especially during the warmer weathers.

    • +2

It's a pir sensor, detects movement and activates the lasers.

lol, both my cars are red… am i going to be able to see these dots?

    • +1

      Is your dash red?

Another inexpensive solution is to use a tennis ball tied to string from the roof of the garage.

see example at this link http://www.motoringabout.com/26-car-hacks-that-actually-work…

    • +1

Think that old low tech solution was developed soon after the first cars were put in garages. Saw a 1950's mag with the suggestion. Still popular because it works.

    • Can here to say this. Tennis ball, screw, string. Can be made for next to nothing.

I am sorry to say if you cannot even park your car in your own garage, you shouldn't be driving a car out on the road unless you never need to park your car elsewhere.

    • +4

If you were actually sorry you could have just stopped typing that sort of ridiculous response.

    • -2

Yep. How many times have you seen someone take 3 or more attempts to park a car ?

    • +2

Some people have really tight spaces/clearances in their garages or large vehicles or both.

I know I needed a contraption like this when I parked an SUV (that wasn't my daily driver) in a double car garage with another car in there, but a tennis ball would've worked as well.

I'd prefer the tennis ball approach though.

      • OP clearly drives a Getz or similar.

    • -1

I finally know how many people can't park since I got quite a few neg

      • I have seen my friend's car space and it is very tight. When you have an expensive car you just don't want to go through the guessing game every times.

  • I have a double garage with a workshop on one side which I'm frequently using. Is this thing going to turn on and off every time I walk into the garage or turn the lights on? Is there a manual on/off button?

    • Yes there's an on/off switch.
