Wanted a ricer, looked on Amazon, and low and behold, we have this gem. Seems to get pretty good reviews, and is cheap enough. Happy mashed spuds.

I have this, works really well.

What does it do? The only ricer i know is my vietnamese high school friend's Lancer with customer exhaust and a park bench as a rear wing.

      • +3

        Hahaa, excellent comment.

Incase you are serious: it basically mashes a boiled potato but does so in a way that makes it very fine and smooth and takes barely any effort.

        Park bench 😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂

  • Review are right. I have one and we love it. I tend to mash the potatoes into a bowl, do my mix of butter, herbs, etc, mix them then mash it again straight in the plate to keep the it nice and fluffy.

Hmmm, Kogan vs Amazon, whatever should I choose.

      • +9

Easy returns and also easy to contact support when needed compared to jumping through hoops for returns and virtually nil customer support. No brainer there.

      • +6

If you enjoy your inbox being inundated with junk mail, Kogan should be your first choice.

Even if you've set all your email preferences to 'no promotional material" , the moment you buy a single item, the flood gates automatically open again.

        • +2

And then you have to jump through 5 hoops when they refuse to automatically unsubscribe you, but instead repeatedly warn you on different screens that you're going to miss bargains and then ask you are you definitely, absolutely, 100% sure you want to unsubscribe? Drives me nuts.

            @abacus: Ditto

Kogan spam relies on laziness and/or lack of knowledge. Laziness not redoing your preferences and knowledge about email junk filters. I kill Kogan spam using filters, setting it to delete permanently straight away.

I’m a first member so appreciate being advised about the option.

  • what are people's thoughts on ricer vs masher?

    • +3

Masher seems to have many chunks of potato and doesn’t get that smooth consistency

With ricer the mash potato texture is bliss …….. I really like mash potato so don’t judge me :)

      • so just one pass through the ricer is sufficient?

        • Yes, I own this and have never had to make more than one pass with this ricer

        • Usually yes, but you can then push it through a sieve if you are extra keen

      • +1

I like those little potato chunks. I've got a masher attachment to my stick mixer that gives the potato that smooth consistency. Never use it. One man's poison…

Josep and Joseph quality is questionable and they don't stand behind their products.

Why shou we buy at premium prices when warranty is not premium

    • +1

never had an issue with any Joseph Joseph products that I own. Plus amazon warranty claims and refunds are so easy that it doesn't phase me if i there is an issue with this purchase.

My first one broke within 6 months fyi

How finicky is this to clean??

(For reference, I hate washing finicky things so much I dice my garlic with a knife rather than use a garlic press)

    • +1

Was thinking the same thing before purchasing in the last deal. Used it several times, and honestly due to the design has been quite easy to wash. For the quality of mash it is well worth picking up

    • +1

The oxo garlic press reverses and pushes the garlic out to clean.

      • Oh I hate that one - the poker things aren't long enough to push all the way through.

We got ours from Ebay for 23.00 shipped at Peters at Kensington. Current price too.
$22.50 from another seller, but I've had great experience with Peters Of Kensington.

    Works well. Easy to clean.

  • Might be sold out

came here wondering wtf a ricer is, just bought one from petersofkensington ebay for $23 + CR (I love mashed potato)

  • Bought this model when it was on sale a few weeks back. Actually quite nice. Ricers make the best mashed potato.

  • What about this cheaper option? https://www.amazon.com.au/Potatoes-Stainless-Ergonomic-Veget…

I've actually been looking at these for a while - I love how less mashing means less "gluey" mash. Grab a spatula and fold a bunch of butter through = bliss

  • Interesting. Something you need if you see it.
