Spark seems to be NZ's version of Telstra, the best coverage and such…

  • Are Spark any good?

    • I have no personal experience but from what I've read Spark seem to be the best in NZ, and Vodafone isn't far behind them…

    • +1

Yep, the are the NZ version of Telstra.

  • I just tried to order 2 travel sims online for click and collect at the airport but there doesn't seem to be a way to add 2 sims to your cart to take up this offer…

I tried their online chat help but they were no help, they just said to call the store…

It "seems" this deal can only be obtained in store…

    • I grabbed this deal today at Christchurch airport, 2x $59 sims for a little under $90, no issues…

They have a shop in the terminal between where you exit Customs/Quarantine and exit the international terminal, but they also had a booth just where you get off the plane before reaching Customs, I grabbed them there, all very easy, chucked one in my phone and it worked instantly, I threw one in my very old Tel$tra wifi modem and it wouldn't connect, but I also had a Optus modem with me and that worked fine…

They dont need activating (like how we have to activate in Australia with a drivers licence or Medicare card), they just activate when you throw them in your phone/device…

      • Thanks for the tips!

Did you end up ordering these online first or did you just wait until you got there and had the promo applied in-store?

        • I couldn't work out how to buy them online, I couldn't add two to my cart, so I just rocked up at the Spark counter and got them there with this deal, I didn't have to ask for the deal, the girl told me about it as soon as I said I wanted two sims… I arrived on a public holiday and the booth where you get off the plane and shop in the airport were open…

I had issues with my Optus wifi modem once I got out of Christchurch, I think Spark may use a different band for 3g, so I tried my Telstra wifi modem again, once I set the APN to "internet" it all worked ok…

Coverage seems good if you're anywhere near a populated place, much the same as Telstra in Australa…

I've also noticed there's Spark free wifi spots in a lot of towns, pink phone boxes, you can use 1 gig per day, I haven't tried to use them yet…
