Update: Coupon BGAU8423 reduces price to US$999 (~A$1296.54).

This looks to be the cheapest price it's ever been on OzBargain and beats Xiaomi Australia who were previously selling it for $2999.

It is an older model with only 1080p resolution, but it is compatible with 4K resolution. Reviews online at the time of release were really good for this model and it would still do a good job today.

That is way too expensive for this unit unless short throw is a requirement

Expensive? Sony and LG UST projectors are $5k - $10k. This is a bargain if you're after an UST.

      • -6

Which bit of short throw did you not understand? You do realise UST stands for ultra short throw ..and factor in the cost of a ambient light rejecting screen ..I'd say you are better off buying an 85 inch 4k than this projector …Oh btw thats ALR FYI

          @shaidas So salty!!

Different model. Even different in the videos.

No it is actually quite good for what it is, even the contrast is surprisingly good, I have seen it in person, but no warranty and 1080 .. if short throw and laser light source is a requirement this is a good deal more so if you are chasing 1080, though I don't know why anyone would… otherwise way better options out there.

I've had my eye on this for a few days and checked most Q&As that were posted on the product page - which all point to it being an older Chinese model. Can't seem to find an actual model number for it.

I did noticed they also have the global version (which is a tad better from the looks of it) for $1663 AUD from HK on sale, however assuming its going to attract + GST for the import bring over $1k.

I kinda got confused which to go, so I gave up… strange that Banggood is stocking this older model in the AU warehouse when there is a global version they could have stocked locally instead.

    • Always shop via AU.BANGGOOD.COM

GST is included on this site :)

      • Even though the item is say declared at $1k on the parcel from HK > AUS?
Surely they dont pre-pay the customs fees on arrival into Aus.

I purchased this a few years back and its a pleasure to use as the remote is bluetooth, the software is snappy.

The downside is that the contrast seems unusually low, the blacks are grey and the colours approaching white are overblown. ie, skin tones aren't too accurate, just not natural.

Of course for games and cartoons the projector is fine, but for movies or TV, the quality just wasn't there, but for the price-point it still wins.

Oh, surprisingly the sound from the in-built speakers is not loud, but accurate and pleasant.

    • Nice to hear its an Okish unit.
Do you know if it has APTX-LL? Have you connected a soundbar to it by any chance, is there a lag?
I couldn't seem to find if it has APTX-LL.

      • I don't have a soundbar as I would use headphones or the in-built speakers so can't guide you there :(

        • All good.

    1080p no thanks

Resolution isn't everything with projectors. I have mine projecting a 120 inch image and it's very nice. Definitely won't get a 4k ust at this price.

      • But I think the price doesn't help. You can get a 4k for a little more.

  • +3

I bought this model for just over 2k when it first came out. It's still going strong touch wood. For this price I highly recommend it. It works fine on a smooth wall or normal projector screen but works best with a light rejecting screen.

UST projectors are the future as they resolves a lot of the annoyances with regular projectors. Bulbs, place to mount, cabling etc. Yeah they're expensive now but the I think the pros outweigh the cons.

It should be said there's basically no warranty should there be an issue months down the track and probably no local shops will be able to repair it. It's a risk but the alternative is buying a Sony UST for 5k - 10k.

The price is now US$999 (~A$1296.54) with the coupon BGAU8423

    • Getting more tempting!

Anyone know if it has APTX-LL? Still can't seem to find anything with a model number so I can confirm if a bluetooth soundbar will/won't have lag.

      • +1

        Doesn't support aptX.

        • Ehhhh… wonder if those who use this just put up with the speakers that are built in.

  • I did also spot this one from Amazon UK for around/close to the same price.
