Just saw these at Bunnings Newstead, QLD in one of the electrical isles. Available in black and white with at least a dozen of each colour left. May be at other stores too so please comment below if you see them at your local.

I know nothing about these lamps and didn't buy one but they seem OK. They're not USB powered, they're powered by a plugpack but they have a USB port on the base with only 1A output so only really good for a trickle-charge. Nice to have adjustable light colour & brightness though so yeah they might be perfect for your needs.
