  • Hi Noslee,

Sorry I don't understand why Officework will slash 5%. Is it a price mathcing policy or something else? how can I get that? thank you:)

    • Yes it is, and you only have to ask (they promote the price match policy in their advertising), though I think it'd be cheeky to get them to price match -5% against their own subsidiary - Harris Tech'…

      Cheers,

      • Well, they all operate under different policies, Coles Myer Group, and I have matched Officeworks items against Kmart, and vice versa, as long as they make the claim, we as customers should feel no shame to use them, since Coles rips you off everyday anyway…

      • haha, it looks funny….mother against son…. anyway i'll go to have a look. Thanks mate:-)

  • I think the policy is only suit for the products they labelled. Not all the product they sell can slash 5%.
Anyway I will go to have a try.
    Cheers mate

  • Does anyone know what the feature difference is between the old and new model?

  • I bought a generic GPS from ebay (a friend of mine already got one). Came to $99 including shipping to Melb (from asia) and comes with AU+NZ+EUR maps installed. It has Windows CE on it so you can put TomTom/whatever on it.. and a 1gb sd card included along with all the accessories. THe GPS chip is the SirfStar III.

Just thought I let you know ;)

    • But was it any good? Where you successful in getting TomTom installed?

    • I also bought a gps (7 inch) from ebay 1 year back for 200$, but after seeing a tomtom (and later compared with friend's navman), tomtom is a class device. Even my ebay one is Sirf-III but branded one like tomtom is very reliable, after sale support with patches, and plenty of things you would expect from brands. Bargain is like this where the same brand is cheaper then market price, not with ebay comparison (with illegal maps, ofcourse).

      • Yes.. this is a good deal for someone specifically seeking a TomTom.

        • So - it's a good deal… But a negative vote.

          I just don't get it…

    • I tried out a cheap $100ish GPS from K-Kmart and the TomTom One XL is worlds better.

The cheaper device crashed constantly and took easily 2-3x longer to calculate a route and the cheap device ran out of memory when working out longer routes.

As a test I had the cheap device make a route about 6 hours long, and the TomTom go from Melbourne to Qld (20ish hours). The result was the cheap device taking 15 minutes+ calculating before running out of memory, and the TomTom finishing up much faster with no complaints at all.

I'm sure it's possible to get a cheap GPS that works well, but for $208 there really isn't much reason to.
