      Whisky stones are supposed to cool your drink. They don't. The temp drop is minimal, and the effect quickly subsides.

      Whisky stones are supposed to prevent dilution of your whisky. Except dilution of your whisky is fine, and if you're a serious taster, you're already adding water.

      If you want a good whisky glass for tasting, get a Glencairn.

      If you want cold whisky with minimal dilution, get a rocks / Old Fashioned glass, make large ice blocks, and drop one in your drink.

          @he11bent: Yes but there's a difference between a couple of drops of water, and an ice cube melting which likely makes up 50% of the whisky's volume.

          I personally don't like rocks or ice, as it dulls the flavour of the whisky.

  As mentioned above, serious whiskey drinkers don't need stones, dilute with water at room temperature and off you go. Glasses not wiskey specific glasses as not "tulip" shaped to concentrate the aromas.

  2x Glencarine glasses at Dan Murphys previous have been $15, the stones are useless/worthless. Buy them as a gift to a serious whiskey drinker and they'll laugh at you.

  Not a bargain.
