  • This or Edifier 350db? 5.1 vs 2.1. Replacing my old broken logitech 5.1 z906 system.

    • +2

This, you can upgrade speakers later , some bargains to be had on second hand market

      • Can you please tell what will be the good replacement speakers for them will be!! I have the unit and two speakers stopped working now looking for replacement. TIA.

    • just buy another Logitech system.
      I see 906 & 5500 on marketplace for $50 all the time.

It's old, I know, but speakers haven't really changed a heap in the past few decades.

      if I haven't convinced u.
go the edifiers if u don't wanna spend big.

      • Good advice.

      • Thanks Sapper50 for the advice. Something to look into.

The Logitech 5.1 aren't the best sounding (nor should they be), but they are probably the best value systems U can get (especially second hand)
          for budget home threate/PC.

The Edifiers at probably the best value speakers u can get for music and equally for PC. for quality power monitors are just gold.

if u have cash to burn, u can always do better and better but remember there are huge diminishing returns in audio equipment, especially when start spending big and/or getting addicted…..

@Sapper50: Sorry, but Logitech and edifiers? No. Only edifiers I would buy are s3000pro.

            • @mlburnian: good on ya mate.

but look at the post this guy was asking about…. I'm talking about value products.
it's literally one of the cheapest HTIB products U can get….. it wasn't for an SVS sub.

not saying that your ears don't demand better sound. I'm just helping someone out and u want to basically say ,the minimum you listen to is a $700 pair of bookshelves….. maybe this is outside people's budget.

I got the Yamaha system when my Logitech THX 5500 system died. The difference was night and day. The muddy Logitech bass was still better for music, and it does go louder before falling apart, however the clarity of the Yamaha speakers for movies is superb at this price point. You won’t be disappointed, unless excessive volume and loud bass are your priorities.

      • Thanks beyondtool, sounds good. After having the logitech speaker for some time i am over the muddy bass so sounds good that the yahama has a bit more clarity vs bass.

Enjoy the earth-shaking power of your home system with its 135 W total output.

    Seriously?

    • Think you are being harsh, this is an honest rating, nominal will be 30 W for each speaker at 6ohm which is plenty for most home setups and a significant upgrade for many people, especially those with a Soundbar or still using the TV speakers. TV speakers are often 5-10watts being generous and providing indirect sound (ie: a lot of waste).
The other factor to consider is efficiency, there is a big difference between manufactures what they can output with the same input. While not top end Yamaha are known for quality especially enhancing the clarity of voice\speech for older folk or hearing impaired.

  • Does that mean peak to peak?

  • Can I disable the 4K upscaling so I can use it with my old 1080p TV?
