    Depends on the projector being used, but generally yes. Walls that are white/glossy will reflect the light back, effectively giving you less illumination on the wall since you are losing some of the light reflecting off so image appears washed out a bit. Gray screens will absorb the light and gives a crisper picture quality.

      I think the image is edited. The gamma/contrast on the two halves is very different, suggesting the same screen but half the image touched up.
