  • the ax56u has merlin support..

    https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/

but is slightly older than the other the Asus range.. and doesn't have WPA3-personal support..

personally, I've gone with the ax55, Tuf ax3000, and Ax88u

    • +1

Note however the AX55 doesn't have Merlin support (and half the ram/storage of the ax56u)
My 55 seems stable now, but it has been a pretty bad device for me, till I flashed a beta Firmware that isn't even supposed to address any issues other than exploits. The 2.4G band is still basically unusable, but at least the gremlin issues of connection but no or intermittent internet have gone

      • Do you agree with the following review that rates the ax56u above ax55?
        https://www.mbreviews.com/asus-rt-ax55-review/2/

        • +1

There's no reason the AX56U would be slower; it is a more powerful router, sits higher in their hierarchy, has double the RAM, double the flash and more features.

          • @thedriver: would you recommend the 56u over the 55? seems like others had bad experience with the 55

    • I had the ax55 for 3 months and returned it. Ran it in aimesh with an ac68u and blue cave. It would pick up then drop devices. Very unstable but could be due to UK variant.

      • I really should, not happy at all with it

      • I had the same problem but after 6 months, rest the device and relink with the main router ax88u, it is working again

    • AX56u reviewed much better than ax55
      https://www.mbreviews.com/asus-rt-ax55-review/2/

  • I have one of these since last year, not a bad unit for the number of Devices I use,

  • Hi OP did this just go up to $198? :(
