  • New model releasing.

  • What is good about these? Style? Efficiency? (honest question)
*My friends bought one a few years back, returned it within a week or two, and bought an element heater from Bunnings for $80 which put out more heat than this could. (where they were living at the time had almost no insulation, so they needed the heat output)

depends on whether you use the features, the filter works for dusty rooms, and is less of a hazard when you have curious kids who like to stick their fingers in everything.

the temperature monitoring and integration with siri is what i got them for. i could turn them on/off remotely and via voice commands so i don't need to be physically there.

also the temp monitoring allows me to increase/decrease heater or just put it in auto mode in the room when the kids are sleeping.

efficiency wise, all heaters are the same-ish. but this one doubles up as a normal bladeless fan with the same footprint. so i don't need to look for space for the heater in the warmer months. Or when there's a cold blast during warm months, I don't need to go dig it out of the storeroom.

      • Thanks for the helpful reply :)
Yeah, definitely fair points about the safety, and about the temp monitoring and control. I could see some people would use it to help with sleep if they are sensitive to temperature changes.

        • no worries. :)

the only negative is the price point to acquire it and also to maintain the filter tbh. however, if you are thinking of getting a separate hepa filter thingy, this is already part of the 'cost' to consider. so from a value perspective, its like a nice 3-in-1 imo.

      • I heard lots of bad things about faulty fan noise, exclamation error etc. Is this still the case?

        • not too sure tbh. the fans are not entirely silent, but it's a big difference between the blade and these.
i used to have one of those 'bladeless' bunnings ones as well.. i think that quickly went to the council collection that very year.

i can't vouch for other's experience as i think it's valid. for me, the low whine noise appeared after 6th year for just one of my fan (I have a few of them, a mix of heater and cool only), and i can't attribute to wear/tear (or just need grease) or it was an OEM filter i was trying out. I need to take it apart to know for sure.

when they started, the app was rubbish. i submitted numerous complaints about their usability. the latest iteration appears to be rather responsive now.

can't comment on exclamation error, i've never heard about that one.

        • Mine got that fan noise, and very noticeable when using in night mode. Called customer service, the staff knew straight away. So I reckon it's a popular issue for this model. They offered a replacement (brand new) unit as it's still under warranty; they even organised home pick up & delivery. Overall, I'm very happy with this product and Dyson's customer service.

anyone knows where to get cheaper filter replacements? They are $100 each and lasts half a year plus.

    • Mine last more than 4 years now with 3-4 hours usage during winter nights mostly.

i use it everyday and runs often . so different demands. :)

it used to say 4000 hours on the app, now it uses percentages.

if you work out 4000 hours into days, it's just 166days.

it adds up when you have a few of these fans. it would almost like buying a brand new fan if i replace all the filters at once.

        • I've been wanting to replace my filters too but it's hard to swallow at $99 each.
Let me know if you find anything reasonably priced.

I'm starting to consider a DIY solution lol

  • I have old model, broke down after 3 year and need to be fixed. who know where to fix this?

    • +1

afaik they have a service centre you can call and ask. i had an issue (something broke when the kids knocked it off the table) and quoted quite a sum for 'looking at it' but ignored it as it wasn't a big deal.

i'll pull mine apart once it stops working at all, it's about 5 years old now.

  • I have this
    Great heater and Air purifier.
Bloody terrible as a fan, it also seems to make a whiney noise at low speeds which Dyson were not helpful supporting.
Friends with the same model have the same issue and there are other instances on YouTube demonstrating the issue.

Even at $699, you can do better.

    • What's wrong with the fan? Output not strong enough?

    • Maybe try their support. I got the same issue, it was like high pitch noise in night mode. They offered me a brand new replacement.

They sold out of them while i was buying the giftcards, now i am stuck with giftcards.

    Fml.

And myer, despite talking to 5 people in store, refuse to refund.

    • I can still add to bag online with free shipping so try again

      • sadly its not until checkout that it says 'no stock'
already spoke on the phone to support and there are none in vic :(

        • Call head office see if they can refund you
