Got too many phone deals recently..lol

  • +5

Seems like a good price for this phone. You can stack with gift cards and CR(Shopback) to bring the price down a a bit.
But beware this phone still has screen issue can't be fixed. Plus S21 FE is around the corner as well.

    • what's the issue?

      • +2

You can google S20 FE Ghost touch issue.
        Firmware updates didn't solve it

        • +1

Weird I have an S20 FE (4G), seems fine, never noticed any ghost touching

          • +1

@BlinkyBill: Not everyone has this issue. I mean still the possibility of it

      • +1

As below screen touch sometimes glitches but doesn't affect all phones. It's been patched several times with a new one yesterday. Overall the s20 FE 5G is a solid phone. I'm happy with my purchase.

    • +2

There is some issue with software. I thought it was just my phone. But it is got everyone.

    • +2

Latest firmware has completely fixed it for me

    • no issues for me

  • Maybe be time to upgrade my s9+ but would move on a lower price.

  • Which is the best imported model to buy? there are a few different variants with different bands.

  • I will have as many phones as Eneloops soon.

  • Why wouldn't you get the overseas model? Warranty?

    • qualcomm chip instead of samsung own.

      • +3

I'm quite sure both 5G versions come with Snapdragon 865?

        • The overseas model is listed as having the Exynos 990 chip.

          • @wombat81: The 7th picture in on the listing has the specs and Snapdragon 865 listed.

            Pic

I don't even think there is a 5G version with Exynos? Only the 4G version.

            Wiki

The S20 Fan Edition has two systems-on-chip, the Exynos 990 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. The Exynos 990 was used only for the 4G model, and the Snapdragon 865 is used for both 4G and 5G models.

            5g

            Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865 5G

            4g

            Exynos 990 (7 nm+) - Version 1

          • @wombat81: Ah you are looking at the item specifics, that is prefilled by eBay. The seller has entered the 4g version not the 5g version, by mistake I assume.

            SM-G780F

            Octa-core (2x2.73 GHz Mongoose M5 & 2x2.50 GHz Cortex-A76 & 4x2.0

That info is prefilled from 4G version. The model number is 4G version (as per GSM).

Edit: If you look at their actual 4G listing you can Exynos 990 is properly listed there on the specs image.

            • +1

@hamza23: Yeah they've listed the 4G model number. It seems like you'd need to clarify with the seller exactly which model you're getting. That in itself would be enough for me to avoid this deal.

      • +2

All the S20FE 5G models have SD processors.

        • All the Australian models, at least. Looks like this overseas model is listed as having the Exynos 990 chip.

    • +3

Basically no warranty, and the seller is less reputable than Allphones/Mobileciti.

But you do get dual sim and save $40 or so, if you want to risk it/really needed dual sim.

    • +2

Warranty, hassle of dealing with a smaller retailer, some functions (banking) or frequency bands may be not be available. Unless dual sim is critical for ~$40 difference I would rather take a local phone.

      • +1

Would never buy a non dual SIM - sucks Aus doesn't get it!

        • What use case do you have for a dual sim? A miniscule amount of people in Australia would even care for a 2nd sim.

          • +2

@shiny1: So you can use both your work SIM and your personal SIM. I don't want to carry 2 phones.

            • @Ballmead: I'd rather keep my personal data and work data on separate phones

          • @shiny1: Using one SIM for phone (eg boost) and another SIM for data (throwaway kogan etc)
Also normally overseas a lot and need to be contacted on Aussie number and receive OTP for work
It's a big hassle to have to carry around a tiny SIM and regularly open the phone up and switch them.

The travel thing is the main reason, the kogan sim was a recent discovery of one of the perks!

        • FWIW all the Australian S21 models are dual sim. 1 physical and 1 e-sim.

    • For a device with widespread and well documented problems (touch screen) you'd be crazy to buy a grey import. There's a high chance you'd need to make a warranty claim, and that is a massive headache without local support.

  • *734.58 for ebay plus not 737.35

    • +3

Seller just dropped the price, will update thanks.

  • Worth the upgrade from a Samsung Galaxy S10?

    • +2

      No.

    • Yes. I upgraded from S10 5G.

  • I heard that this model has some weird multitouch problems, is that true? As in no more than two to three finger inputs at once

    • +2

It does suffer from some pretty significant touch screen issues, yes. But the issues vary from phone to phone. Do some googling to find out more.

  • +1

Heard the S21 FE is around the corner

  • +2

Been using the phone since launch. Touch screen issues happen once in a blue moon and reset solves it. Battery life is still astounding and easily have 30-40% left by end of day. Plus you get micro SD card slot here which later models omit. Another plus is it uses older optical fingerprint reader so still works with tempered glass protector. Excellent phone.

    • Can also attest to the touch screen issue.

    • The problem with the touch screen issue is that it seems to vary a lot from phone to phone. Some users have never had an issue. Others are still having significant issues after multiple fixes. It seems like a gamble.

    But Exynos is trash.

    • +2

Good thing this 5G model comes with a Snapdragon chip, aye?

    • The 5G version has Snapdragon

    • lol…nice S20FE 5G research

    • Your comment is trash.. usual cut and paste comment from someone who doesn't even own one

  • Waiting on the "iS iT sD oR eXyNoS" comments to erupt into a processor war on every Samsung phone deal

  • so glad I didn't go for these models, they way they're constantly discounting these lately makes me think they're just not that great

    • It's just unfortunate that they used poor quality digitizers resulting in the widespread touch screen issues. Other than that they offer great features and would be great value.

  • -1

Be aware the overseas model does not have snapdragon, it's exynos

    • -1

      Another yawn comment

      • -1

        Another lazy comment

        • -1

All I see is comments like yours that are regurgitating someone else's comment despite having no idea what you're on about

  • Hypothetically, is it possible to return the device to retailer if I experience touchscreen issues?

    • It's probably best to contact the seller and ask. The link to their returns policy is broken.

      • But "If the item you received doesn't match the description in the original listing, or if it arrived faulty or damaged, you're covered under eBay Money Back Guarantee. You can return it even if the seller's returns policy says they don't accept returns."

        • So you've answered your own question…

          • @wombat81: But Sammy doesn't recognize it as faulty soooooooooooooo

            • @solomon2089: I guess you just need to make sure you've got evidence of the fault.
