Of course. It’s an tracking device used by the government to control sheep, isn’t it ?

      • +1

Doesn't work, ever tried to herd sheep?

        • How do you know THAT is not the way the government wants to control sheep … stealth and unsuspecting … they will still be shore! Or worse!!!!

    • +2

      It's a vaccine against COVID-19.

  • +2

Mmmmm … please report again in 365 days …

  • Joke aside: why did you go for the vaccine at all?

Fear? Freedom? Forced to (work)? Exposed to potential carriers?

    • +5

Cause I can, that’s it. It was offered so I took it.

      • Mmm, OK.

So will it also be that is today Covid, tomorrow Flu and then Malaria?
No particular reason other than availability?

        • Is there a malaria vaccine now?

        • Flu is available but was told to wait 3 weeks after the second shot.

      • +1

You must be a drug dealers dream!!

      • -1

It was offered so I took it.

        Model Chinese citizen right here.

    • For me - exposure to carriers (but I live in HK now, where population density is much higher than in AU); ability to travel and mitigate quarantine (to a degree); protecting others who can't get vaccinated.

    • I haven't had the jab yet but am going to in 3 weeks time. For me, it's because it's free.

  • +2

I had covid over Christmas/ NY (I live in London - don't know why I still come to Oz-B regularly). After the first shot (A/Z) I had aches, and am having my second shot soon. Pretty much everyone who's had there second shot says it worse. In saying that everyone including myself agree that the vaccine is nothing compared to the aches of actual covid. So get a shot up ya!

    • +2

For AZ the first shot typically has worse side effects.

For Pfizer the second shot typically has worse side effects

  • +1

I had the first dose of Pfizer a couple of weeks ago. No issues other than a sore arm at the injection site the following day (almost like someone had given me a 'dead arm').

    Follow up dose next week!

    • +1

do let me know how that goes next week !

    • That’s exactly what I had! Sore arm for 2 days at the injection site.

I have the second does booked in 3 weeks

  • +2

Why is Australia's vaccination process one of the worst in the world?

    • +1

why is the federal govenemtn roll out the worst in the world

      NSW government,
wife went ot he homebush one
in , registered, was 15 minutes early, got jabbed 2 minutes later, waited 15 minutes done and out

rows of nurses jabbing people, doctors police, ambo waiting everywhere
wipe and cleaned every spot after the jab
      that roll out is perfect!

  • +1

Do you have to hang around after the jab?

  • Does it improve your autism? I’m thinking of getting it as a booster shot to increase mine. Feels like it’s fading.

    • +1

      Diamond hands

    • +2

They don't say vaccines cause autism anymore. It's infertility.

      • Even better. No need for contraception!

  • +1

Have you signed a consent form that no one will take any responsibility if you don't survive?

If you did sign the form, will your life insurance company deny the claim?

    • +1

Actually its indemnity for the manufacturers and medical staff, with the Commonwealth taking on the responsibility instead.

  • I had the second Pfizer dose earlier this week.
    No side effects at all.

The first shot I had a soreness at the injection site for a few days, but the second one I only had soreness for a few hours.

Of the people I know that have had the second Pfizer dose, 75% have had no issues.

  • My daughter had her second dose of Pfizer three weeks ago and is still very sick (coughing, sore throat etc).

  • +2

Thank you for participating in the 'clinical trials'

I'll get mine once Moderna and Novavax get TGA approval and long term issues are understood for all four that Australia are planning to use.

BTW: I'm part of 1b, but I want to delay it as much as possible in case any nasty surprises pop up.

  • Got first Pfizer vaccine 2pm yesterday
    1-2hrs after Warm ears
    2-4hours after cold hands
after work ell asleep on the couch and slept right through till alarm which is unusual for me
at 14hrs Brief nausea when driving to work this morning.

Not dead yet, arms pretty tender.

Not really a frontline worker but close enough for them (mining company next to the airport). A workmate went to go get his jab for over 50's but was refused as they only had Pfizer and would be rolling out the Astrazeneca vaccine tomorrow for the +50s.

Took my chance and they let me get it. Make sure you have your medicare card and Licence if you are looking to get it done. You cant of had the flu jab within 2 weeks prior also

    • I was thinking of going to the Homebush site but I’m 51 and don’t qualify for Pfizer. Though I have a family history of death from blood clots. But still I’m meant to be getting AZ.

Question - if you just book an appointment and turn up do you need to provide documentation saying you are in group 1B? There’s so many spare appointments it looks like they can’t give them away so was wondering if I just try anyway.

      • I'd say so mate, you get questioned at the door then you sit with someone on a computer confirming everything.

  • +2

got my 2nd shot on Tuesday, no improvement on wifi signal, and cant confirm tracking on wifi or BLE.
arm is still sore, first shot was only sore the day after

    • +3

Can we sue the government for false advertising then if that's the case???

      • +1

whats the government got to do with it?
I did my own research and found this to be the most common explanations for why we are getting the shots. Im just disappointed it turned out to be fake news

  • Hopefully you don't experience any bad symptoms, praying for you

  • +1

I see alot of concern about the immediate side effects but what about the pathogenic priming concern?

  • +1

Family members - 41F, 63F, 64M have had first shot of AZ with no noticeable side effects.

  • I've had both shots of Pfizer (31F;Aussie expat in HK) - second shot was a lot worse; really tired straight after, and had to take the next day off work because of fever / chills. Was back to normal by T+2.

    • sigh. No good. I have my 2nd shot scheduled for 2/6. Party planned on 3/6.

      • It's incredibly variable - my manager was 100% fine (and weirdly chipper in fact) so wouldn't panic, but I'd prepare to be flexible with your plans :) best of luck!

  • +1

I've heard many have reported a strange phenomenon where magnets can stick to the injection site.
Sounds weird but can anyone who has had the Pfizer or AZ injection confirm?

    • +3

I can confirm the fridge magnet is now sticking to my left arm.

      • No way! Send video or it didn't happen… lol

      • +1

This is how you prove you are now vaccinated?

  • Eric Clapton shares his AstraZeneca injection experience.

    "The message reads:

I am an old timer, I have survived, with great help, addiction and alcoholism, and stand now in the greatest dilemma of my life…

I have inwardly stood against our ‘elected leaders’ since brexit, intuitively doubting their integrity and character…

With the arrival of C-19 I hoped that C Henegan, S Gupta and Jay B would lead the way, but when imperial college stepped up with their jailers key, I knew we were in deep trouble…

I am a man of faith, albeit abstract, and what I felt and saw unfold in March ‘20 began to lead me away from govt rhetoric and the devotion of the general public to the PM and his cronies…

I looked for heroes in the house, and found C Walker, Desmond Swayne, and in unfortunate retirement, Lord Sumption…

On YouTube I found Hugotalks and Talk Radio… that was all….

Then I was directed to Van M, that’s when I found my voice, and even though I was singing his words, they echoed in my heart…

I recorded “stand and deliver” in 2020, and was immediately regaled with contempt and scorn…

In February this year, before I learned about the nature of the vaccines, (and being 76 with emphysema) I was in the avant garde. I took the first jab of AZ and straight away had severe reactions which lasted ten days, I recovered eventually and was told it would be twelve weeks before the second one…

About six weeks later I was offered and took the second AZ shot, but with a little more knowledge of the dangers. Needless to say the reactions were disastrous, my hands and feet were either frozen, numb or burning, and pretty much useless for two weeks, I feared I would never play again, (I suffer with peripheral neuropathy and should never have gone near the needle.) But the propaganda said the vaccine was safe for everyone….

Then I met a member of this group, who counselled me to be careful and to have a look at what goes on with you guys…

I felt like a veil had been lifted, that I was no longer alone, that it was okay, in fact essential, to hold on to my intuition and follow my heart…

I continue to tread the path of passive rebellion and try to tow the line in order to be able to actively love my family, but it’s hard to bite my tongue with what I now know…

    I’ve recorded and will post here another song by Van called “The Rebels” it’s not aggressive or provocative, it just asks;

“Where have all the rebels gone?

    Hiding behind their computer screens

Where’s the spirit, where is the soul

Where have all the rebels gone”

I’ve been a rebel all my life, against tyranny and arrogant authority, which is what we have now, but I also crave fellowship, compassion and love, and that I find here…

I believe with these things we can prevail

There is no point calling people stupid, on either side.

    • There is certainly some stupidity going on… and the smart thing to do is to call it out.

  • If AstraZeneca was offered to you instead of Pfizer, would you have taken?

    • Hmm I don't know the difference between the two. I didn't even know what it was until I got into the room so I'd say yes. I'll take it either way.

      • AZ has been linked to the rare clots (~1/100000 in Australia), Pfizer hasn't. That's the reason Pfizer is preferred under the age of 50. The main difference is that Pfizer is mRNA and AZ is viral vector:

The whole AZ blood clot thing has been overblown so much I'm so ashamed of the media and gov reaction.
I'm in the 20-30 bracket and I've had my first shot of AZ waiting 2 months for my second dose as recommended.

          • -1

@KBZ: How was it overblown? Many people died and half of Europe and other countries halted the vaccine because of it.

            • +3

@pufffdragon: Because the risk of blood clot, while there, was still lower than a lot of medications that already exist in the market - which people have readily accepted the risk on. Blood clots have also been observed in COVID patients, so avoiding that specific vaccine doesn't actually mean much.

You should definitely speak to a doctor if you are in a risk group, but the concerns were definitely overblown and fed into a lot of vaccine reluctancy which is going to have a real world impact on achieving herd immunity or just returning to "normal lives".

I cant wait to get Bill's microchip. That is how my free Surface Pro 9 will get delivered to me.

  • I register on 10th May, how did you manage to get your shot so quick? Who did you have to jerk off?

    • In NSW if you are eligible to receive a vac (1a, 1b), you just book online at homebush.

  • Did you develop side effects such as becoming autistic or becoming artistic?

  • I had my first AstraZeneca shot last Monday 13th. Nothing severe to report.

Had flu like symptoms exactly 12 hours after the jab. Started with chills and shakes but took 2 codral nighttime Pills and slept 10 hours. Woke up with aches, sore joints, a headache, extremely listless and had few pains for next 12 hours. Nothing paracetamol wasn’t able to soothe and mostly alleviate.

All in all some flu like symptoms for 12 -24 hours after the jab. But nothing too major.

Can’t say it was great. But also not horrendous

Getting shot 2 of AZ early August.

Sum the whole thing up in 2 words-

    “No biggie”

  • I'm pre-registered for the two vaccinations at Olympic park as well and I don't even have anything to do with the health care system or work in any front line capacity at all and I'm not over 40.

I randomly got a text message today from NSW health asking me to do it, no idea on what basis though

    • You got a family member who is healthcare or frontline worker?

  • Feeling stiff anywhere on your body?

  • +2

I getting the impression that majority of the users here are against vaccination. I got my shot too and I am still alive, if I get to pick how I die that won't be from Covid.

    • +2

I getting the impression that majority of the users here are against vaccination. I got my shot too and I am still alive, if I get to pick how I die that won't be from Covid.

If majority listened to antivaxxers (luckily lot of people have more common sense)we would still be ravaged by smallpox, polio, Tetanus, Rubella, Measles and lot of other fun diseases.

      • Yes , but those vaccines were thoroughly tested for years before release. The covid ones have not. if you are happy putting a "trial" vaccine into your body, go right ahead.

        • +1

1,370,024,391 - According to the New York Times that is how many doses have been given of various Covid 19 vaccines around the world.

380 million of those doses are the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Think it’s probably past the ‘trial’ phase.

          • +1

            @justgooddeals:

Think it’s probably past the ‘trial’ phase.

Not if it only causes long term issues. We don't know what any of them do long term at this point.

            • +1

@brendanm: We may not know what they do specifically long term. But as my GP explained it to me. The method of delivery of Sars-cov-2 by the AstraZeneca jab does not contain any live genetic code of that covid virus. Just spike protein of that virus wrapped in harmless adenovirus(common cold carrier virus). And this method of delivery has been used for a long time and the risks and side effects are well known

But no one is being forced to take the vaccine. So each individual has to make his best guess estimate as to his level of risk.

What is known is covid has mortatily rate of 1 to 2 %. In Sydney (5million people)if everyone caught covid that would mean death rate of roughly 50,000 to 100,000 people . 5 million x 1-2% =50,000 to 100,000 people dead

Astra Zeneca causes roughly 6 deaths per 1 million from blood clots . So 25 -30 deaths in Sydney if everyone in Sydney has/d the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Each individual has to assess his own personal circumstances age, health etc. speak with his GP then decide which is riskier
I weighed those odds up when getting AZ and thought the risks were probably worse if I got covid over the AZ jab.
So after rolling the dice seemed better odds with taking the AstraZeneca vaccine.

              • @justgooddeals: People under 50 can't even get the az vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine is not something we have used before, and has completely unknown long term effects.

                5 million x 1-2% =50,000 to 100,000 people dead

That's assuming that literally every single person caught it. It also ignored the age/health fatality distribution, that 1% or so is not at all evenly distributed, it isn't just going to be a random 1% that may die. For the vast majority of people, even if they get it, it isn't an issue.

But no one is being forced to take the vaccine.

Not in a traditional sense, yet. I'm sure they intend to make it as difficult as possible to live your life without getting it.

                • +2

@brendanm: Vaccines and antibiotics are literally a miracle of the 20th and 21st century. That have saved many hundreds of millions of lives or improved people’s lives globally.

I understand vaccine hesitation. It’s perfectly logical to question whether one vaccine should be given over another. Just don’t understand antivaxxer crowd. People who completely reject vaccines totally

But if anybody wants to reject them and live in the 17th and 18th century medically that is their right.

Again no one is forcing these vaccines on anybody. But it’s sad. All the scaremongering causes or may influence less people to get vaccinated and probably means that more people will die. But it’s free country. And so glad we live in country where everybody has right to choose whether to jab or not.

                  • @justgooddeals:

People who completely reject vaccines totally

Where did I say I reject vaccines totally?

And so glad we live in country where everybody has right to choose whether to jab or not.

Won't be the case for long.

Where did I say I reject vaccines totally?

Wasn’t trying to imply you said that. Just statement in general to some other comments by others in this longing-ish thread.

@justgooddeals: Yep, just keep repeating 'safe and effective' and hope like hell your calculations are based or legitimate numbers.

The frightening thing is that only 1%-10% of adverse reactions to the Covid vaccines are actually reported to the EudraVigilance database.

Anyway, as you said, for now they are not 'forcing' anyone so that's one thing I guess.

You don't know the history of smallpox vaccination do you…

        • +2

"…by smallpox, polio, Tetanus, Rubella, Measles and lot of other fun diseases"

"Yes , but those vaccines were thoroughly tested for years before release."

You may find it interesting, if not educational, to see how 'thoroughly tested' some of those vaccines were. Quite a few involved using family members as test subjects.

I think a larger percentage of people are wary of the new vaccine but aren't opposed to vaccines in general.

Got my AstraZeneca 5 days ago. Was expecting to be miserable the next day, but apart from feeling a slight pain where the needle went in, no side effects at all - so far!

EDIT - in fact I feel like I have sympathy pain in my other arm - not the one where the needle went in!
