Is it a better deal than the s20 fe 5g $599?

    • +2

      That deal ended today

    • +9

Well it depends, for me even $500 s21 ultra will not entise me, 128 gb with no external storage is a joke this days expecialy how big the picture and video file are this days, if you have small kids this eat up really quickly.

      • +6

also google photos are ending free storage soon

      • +8

not if you own a proper camera. 128gb is fine , 64gb iphones are a joke..

      • +5

Switch to HEIF instead of JPG in the camera settings…. Your 128GB storage just became 256GB worth of JPGs and your 512GB just became 1TB worth of JPGs.

It's time we moved away from JPG anyway, HEIF is supported by basically everything that matters now anyway and will only gain more support going forward.

        • +1

          who is the heif

        • And also HEVC for videos too!

That said, I'm not sure if Google photos deals with HEIF/HEVC.

          • +1

@RocketFish: Yeah it seems to, I've had my S21U on HEIF/HEVC since launch and they are all on Google photos and viewable.

It makes even more sense to make the switch now with Google charging for storage space.

          • @RocketFish: On my Android phone, Google Photos does, but other apps I use like Tinybeans (for creating daily photo album of kids/sharing with family) does not support HEIC well (rotations get messed up and sometimes freezes during uploads) and HEVC is a no go altogether. Oddly enough they work fine with the high efficiency codecs on my iPhone though.

        • Thanks for the heads up brad1601. How do you make this change?

          • +6

@staz: Open the camera App, click the gear top left, then advanced options for photos and advanced options for video and you'll find the options to change them over.

      • +19

If your kids are eating your files, you're doing something wrong.

        • +1

How has no one else upvoted this

      • Take your point but if you care alot about your kids photos (or any photos/videos really), you should either be investing in cloud storage or a NAS with redundancy. I say this as someone who is worried about losing kids photos/videos too and would like to ensure that when mine turns 18 and needs to have some photos from her childhood, we have plenty to choose from.

    • -2

Stupid question. Is 15% itune card better deal than 15٪ off google play card?

      • +21

Yes you are right. It's a stupid question.
Short answer, it depends upon person to person. For me as android user, iTunes has 0 value.

    • +4

A phone without an sdcard slot is a joke! Ssmsung are giving it away because sales are so low.

Next time make a better phone. dont tease apple then copy them.

      • -2

        most people never use it

        • simple fact lol

  • +3

Really wish you would elaborate on "Stackable $200 & $50 Discount"

    • +4
        • +5

Because some of CSRs have given them to many OZBers.

This is not the first time this type of deals has been posted. $50 is the new user sign up voucher. $200 discount voucher… that's kinda a loophole. Some customer reps are happy to provide one, whereas some don't.

        • +2

          What do you want?

          • +5

@ChadHominem: For someone to do all the work for them apparently

        • +1

          that was a quick disable

    • +21

'Regarding the loyalty voucher worth $200, the loyalty voucher worth $200 is for those who have customer induced damage cases on their product or out of warranty unit that needs repair and is liable to pay for the repair at their own cost.'

Thankyou, finally some type of information about this.

Not sure why the negs but whatever.

        • -5

People generally don't like it when you just have a whinge. That's why the negs.

          • +7

@wombat81: In what way is asking for information on how to get the deal having a whinge?
You can't just post about a discount without any further information about how to actually get the discount.

shap08's comment gave me more information than this and the linked deal.

            • +3

@Axelstrife: They reaction from the community is more than likely how the question was asked.

Looking from the other side, the tone has an “eye roll” or hint of sarcasm in the first few words. Could the question be asked better by simply ‘can you please provide more detail on how to get these credits’ and if you want to add ‘I really don’t understand how it works’

If it hasn’t already been asked By no means it’s not a silly question.

            • +4

@Axelstrife: How about: "Thanks for the deal OP. Would you mind elaborating a bit on how to obtain the $200 voucher? Cheers!"

Asking nicely vs whinge is a skill worth knowing.

                • +2

@Axelstrife: what? get some help, bro. there's no excuse for rudeness.

                  • +2

@wombat81: Yes he's whinging, however "no excuse?" wouldn't speaking in absolutes in this instance reinforce his idea that people are overly sensitive? People can be rude and obnoxious occasionally without being horrible people on the whole (of course the context matters too.) Mind you I'm not saying you can't call people out for poor behavior.

                    • @TsundereGuy: Huh? When did I say he/she was a "horrible person on the whole"? He/she asked why they got negged. I told them.

                      • +3

@wombat81: No you're right, you said no such thing. I likely just misinterpreted you, if so my apologies. Bad habit of reading into things that aren't there sometimes.

                        • +3

@TsundereGuy: No worries, bro. We all do it at times. Have a good day.

                • +3

@Axelstrife: Wow you really gonna whinge on your whinge?

      • +1

Tried it. I was told the same. 😁

        • +2

close your chat, open a new one and tell em you broke your screen and want to upgrade to the s21 and heard you can get a $200 voucher to upgrade. IF they ask for your imei, say you don't have it on you

  • +7

    $400 Trade-in …..

    Shouldn't this be:

    UPTO $400 Trade-in

    • +12

nope, "Get up to $305 off your new Galaxy S21 series 5G.2 Plus get extra $400 off when you trade in now"

    • +5

It's an additional $400 on top of whatever trade in value is.

      • Thanks for the clarification…

        • +4

my phone is only worth $35 but for the extra 400 its def worth it :)

          • +1

@Cee33: It's worth it. My phone cost only $20 :-)

Bought S21 256GB and it went down to $729 (without $50 sign-up promo code)

            • @elfst0ne: What phone did you trade in that only costs $20??
All the old phones we have lying around are all coming up as $0 value trade in, even if it's in mint condition.

  • Could someone upload a screenshot of a checkout price post discounts for a Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G 128gb in black?
I'd like to try and use my price protection insurance to claim the difference!

    • How can you do that? I bought 2 three days ago.

      • +1

Credit card insurance with 28 degrees card. It's no longer available to pick up however.

        • +2

how does it work with 28 degrees
          if you used discount vouchers?

also do we need the screenshot of original samsung price on the site?
anyone got that screenshot or some proof?

          • @pinkybrain: Should work no problems with discount vouchers, I've done it before for various other purchases across many stores.

Don't need original samsung price on the site. At most they might request your receipt/tax invoice + proof of price drop (which is what I'm requesting at the moment)

            • @pepsicles: but can you take photo of the samsung price now or direct them to the site now or just do pretend checkout to show the price?

the invoice that someone provides only would show the final price..after their discounts + their phone value discount..

how would they then compare it to ours which would have different phone value discount?

              • +1

@pinkybrain: screenshot of pretend checkout is what I've done/used in the past and that's worked.

Don't need anyone's invoice. Also to clarify when I say they might request your reciept/tax invoice, I meant from your original purchase where the final price was higher. Hopefully that makes sense haha

                • @pepsicles: so are you asking someone take screenshot of their checkout page now since you don't have the bonus $200+$400+$50+phone value discount applied?

And even if the page shows a different phone value discount or they don't have the $50 newsletter discount, it would still be good enough proof for the protection?

Do you applied for the protection by phone or some form to fill out?
can you give link to which form you used?

          • @pinkybrain: Yeah that's the trick. A lot of discounts nowadays are promo codes + cashback. There are a lot of exclusions for price protections.

It will still work if you paid rrp, as jb,etc normally would have a set discount. But you'll still get it much cheaper if you're patient and has promo codes/cashback (and in this case bonus trade in)

    • +1

would also be appreciated for same price protection insurance reason…..

if someone can please upload screenshot checkout price post discounts for a Galaxy S21 128GB in phantom purple?

      • Me too, S21 128GB in phantom white please.

      • just a correction but it is phantom violet, not phantom purple.

you don't need to pay for the item, just post a screenshot of the checkout screen of final price after all the discounts applied (200+400+50+your phone trade in price etc)

        This would be much appreciated..

        thanks..

    • You won't be for to claim the trade in $400 voucher as it involves a trade, so the $250 off.

  • What's the cheapest phone to trade in?

Scroll down to device search and you can try things out. Probably an s7 or a7.

      • +2

Lol using that search the s7 gives $5 trade in

        • yeah even cheaper than a subway..

          damn…

        • +4

Yeah but don't look at it that way. They're essentially giving you $405 for it, with the bonus. There's no way you'd get $405 for it on the open market, so it's actually a good offer.

          • @wombat81: And if previous deals are anything to go by, you can keep the s7 and still pocket the $400 discount.

        • Plus $400, so a discount of $405. Not bad.

  • +1

I really don’t need a new phone and I am an iPhone user… but sub $500 for a flagship Android phone???

The temptation is too damn high!

    • +5

      Escape your walled garden!

      • +4

The force is very strong inside apple's garden..

Every product they release is to make the wall even higher and harder to get out..
        e.g. air tags

Everything apple does is to leverage off their iPhone success and to keep you inside their wall garden

watched this video which is interesting.
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNAo0UdYF6g

If you own both platforms then there is more flexibility to use either..

    • +3

      See this
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNAo0UdYF6g

I am both iphone/ipad and android user..
last phone was iphone and now switch back to android.

mainly cos you can't buy specs like this s21 compare to base model of the iphone 12..
you are paying double for iphone 12 to get less better specs..ie only 64gb for base model, still 60hz screen, only 2 cameras etc..

It helps to not be loyal to either platform…
makes it easier to compare which one is better value for money.

      • Good thing about android is you can change the phone brands without being (profanity) out of your purchases (unless it's some super niche thing like the Samsung GearVR).

        • (unless it's some super niche thing like the Samsung GearVR).

Can't believe that was one of the things which sucked me into switching to an S7. I think I used it 3 or 4 times in total. At least the Gamesir controller I bought to go with it didn't go to waste.

      • -1

id rather have ios than those features.

  • To trade-in , does my phone has to be recent one or any working phone is fine? I have got one that's at least 4-5 years old.

    • there is a search bar where you can search up how much your phone is if it doesnt pop up your phone it isnt valid for trade in

    • The oldest model for the S series is the S7/S7 Edge. That's early 2016 iirc.
Their oldest accepted model from Apple is the iPhone 6 128GB, and variants of the 6+, 6S, 6S+.

  • +1

Trade-in service seems unavailable at the moment?

    • Did you put your cc details in?

      • Yup

  • Wasnt this $100 cheaper with $500 Trade in Bonus , $200 Loyalty Voucher and $50 Marketing Promo Code, S21 Ultra was $849 - any credit for your phone !!

    • +17

It was, but there hasn’t been many deals on time machines posted here recently.

      • +1

Let me know when you see one…

        • Where's the Delorean McFly?

          • @georgedn: Doesn't hurt to have a spare!
            Gotta watch out for trains…

  • +5

If only they have external storage. I would happily pay more for it

  • Has anyone ever been able to get in contact with Samsung Store support (regarding verification email to gov/ edu)?? Literally been waiting months to hear back..

    • Go through unidays for edu

    • I did the verification ~2 weeks ago for gov and it worked fine for me.

    • I got a fairly generic email back that they are aware of issues with their verification emails and should just keep trying.

  • 512 GB oos :(. They dont have sd card also :(

  • FYI current pricing error (the bad kind) on a SILVER 256gb S21+. Currently $250 more than any other colour.
