I have got Order confirmation, but no shipping info yet

  • Anyway to get a Trade in ID without having a compatible Trade in phone?

    • ipad
      buy an old phone

    • The code is delivered via an app that checks the device's key hardware components. Without an eligible device, I'm afraid you can't get a trade-in code.

    • Buy an used S7

  • +3

For anyone who's looking for a $200 loyalty code, here's an excerpt from my chat the other day.
"Good morning. I hope your day is going great. [wait for them to respond]
I am looking to upgrade from my Note9 [any old Samsung device would suffice] to one of the newer devices. I was hoping I could get a discount towards the purchase of a new phone."

The trick is to tell them right off the bat that you have a Samsung device that is old and in dire need of an upgrade.

Lastly, it wouldn't hurt to be courteous.

  • +1

I went via Samsung sales to get the loyalty voucher, I asked for the $200 voucher to upgrade my damaged S9 to the new S21 and they got one from the service team. All up about it took about a minute. But I am still waiting for the newsletter voucher.

  • +3

was just on the samsung live chat this is what he told me, is this true?

Whilst we're waiting, I just want to let you know that Voucher Codes are valid for purchasing products from the Samsung Australia website ONLY and is not stackable with other promotions such as the $50 newsletter and Trade Up. It will expire 7 days from the date of issuance.

    • As mentioned before, the $50 and $200 codes are indeed stackable.

    • LOL, 2 of my roommates just bought S21 and S21 Ultra and it stacked fine for them. Samsung can easily employ ozbargainers over there so called chat experts.

  • +4

Samsung finally changed the chat window title from "Live Chat with Samsung Experts" to "Live Chat with Samsung People"… Ain't no experts there lol

  • +2

worked for me, purchase price of samsung galaxy s21 ultra 5G $128 after trade in of S20 5g $694 , no newsletter disount applied. got $305 plus $400 plus $200 discount
    https://www.screencast.com/t/dQNM9ZjyA
    :)

anyone know what happens if i dont send my other phone back?

meaning they said they would charge me the $305, but will they charge me the extra $400 as well?
as i could sell my phone for more than $305,

    Tony

    • Can you get 705 for your old phone? That's probably the real question.
      But of a big gamble

      • i suspect so according to facebook marketplace. only paid $700 for it in the first place.

      • He won't lose the $400 credit. He will only have to pay back the $305 handset trade in price.

  • Traded In S10 = $155 + $400 Offer
Voucher from Samsung chat = $200
    Total Discount = $755

    S21+ Cost = $1299
    Less $755 discount = $544

    Happy Days.

Now, only if I dont have to send my S10 back as it is in a mint condition and for $155, I will keep it as a second phone. What if I do not send back?

    • +2

They will charge your card those 155. And you forgot to use marketing voucher worth $50.

      • so Samsung just charge $155 right??

my old s9+ $90 IF not send to them they will charge me $90 ?

        • +1

If they offer you 155 for trade in then only 155 if they offer you 90 or whatever amount then that amount.

In my case I was offered 35 for trade in and at the end it reminded me if I don’t send the unit they charge my card for 35 dollars.

      • yeah I never received the email for the $50 newsletter voucher. I tried it twice over last two weeks and gave it. I was still a pretty good deal so just went ahead.

    • my working Note9 mint condition wud probably go for $50 at this rate
Samsung products are cheap as chips only after a few months :/

      • Note 9 should be $135

  • +2

Well, I didn't expect to be buying a new phone today, didn't get to use the $50 newsletter code though, never came through. Cheers OP and everyone else for info.

  • Anyone else getting this error?

"Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment"

    • I have been trying for last couple of hours and getting this error

    • +3

Credit car info needs to be validated on the app first then the error goes away

      • Thanks. Worked for me. Placed the order

      • Perfect. Thanks!

  • +2

Man what a campaign from Samsung.

    I just got the S20 FE with the stacking of vouchers($150 + $50) total = $599.00 yesterday.
Saw this deal the next day and the missus wanted the S21+

    S8 trade in = $35
    Trade in bonus = $400
    Loyalty voucher = $200
    Newsletter voucher = $50

    S21+ total cost = $614.00 (saving $935.00)

Spent $1,213.00 for two phone upgrades, gonna stay away from OzBargain for awhile.

    Thanks O.P.

    • where did you apply the loyalty voucher ? was it in the cart > Promo code ?
i tried to apply the code but getting 'Invalid code' message

      cheers

      • +1

Same place as the Newsletter voucher.
I applied the Newsletter voucher first and then the Loyalty one.

  • Strongly recommend S21 Ultra if you need to take nice photos. The optical zoom for 3x lens takes such great photos.

  • Trade in price for S20 FE 5G 128gb reduced from $350 to $215.

I keep almost buying an S21U but just can't quite justify it. Almost checked out today if I hadn't noticed the reduction.

At $350 trade and with the other bonuses (I've already used the $50), I think I'd do it…. but the Mi11 Ultra is just heaps better if I'm paying $~1500.

    • The Mi11 Ultra might be a very compelling device but are you really going to drop that much money for a device with little to no warranty?

      • My experience with previous Xiaomi has been really good - Mi5 and Note 3 with zero issues. Mi5 was absolutely amazing, doubly so when price came into it. Both were global versions, bought from Banggood from memory.
And you're right though: For this money, I'm hoping the Australian reseller will sell them for a more reasonable price once stock appears then stabilises. It's still really early days.
Looks like I can get the S21 Ultra down to around ~$800, plus giving them my 9 month old ~$800 S20FE5G. I'm so torn.
By all appearances and reviews, the Mi is the better phone, and that's against the SD, not our lesser Exynos.
Case availability and immediate local availability is the only clear win for the Samsung.
I'm a little bit dirty they've suddenly devalued the FE though, when the base S20 is worth $100 more as trade.

        • For the longest time, I was a huge advocate for going the way of Xiaomi when it came to mobile devices because of their insane bang to buck ratio. While my experience with grey imports via AliExpress has been mostly good, I have been burnt a few times. They were low ticket items but I've chosen to pick peace of mind over cost-saving.

I have a love-hate relationship with MIUI. But lately, I've begun to hate it more than I love it. I wanted the Mi11 so bad but after spending some time with MIUI 12.5, I have come to the realisation that Samsung's OneUI is superior in a lot of ways. The only advantage I enjoyed with Xiaomi was being able to use Magisk without repercussions. I now value stability and reliability a lot more than the ability to tinker.

Trade-in value for devices are intended to be a slap in one's face… with spiked gloves, which is no different when doing the same with cars. The trade-in value is not going to stay put as time goes on. I imagine the next deal that comes up will see this amount dip by at least $100.

On the subject of local availability, I can't overlook the ease of getting a battery replacement from Samsung later on.

          Never settle.

          • @albert0pia: Never settle indeed - went from the OnePlus 7T to the FE5G. Both great phones but the Samsung camera just outdid the OnePlus, and the UI had improved so much since my last Samsung - S6. I wasn't getting the battery life from the OnePlus I expected either, although it wasn't bad really.
I know the trade in changes but to drop it below the S20 seems a bit lame - FE wins almost everywhere in that comparison. My theory is they got a few trade FE and don't want to focus on them this round… I have no other evidence for it though 🤣

          • +1

@albert0pia: Still have fond memories of my very first AliExpress experience, purchasing a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro with 'Dual AI' cameras (1 AI to take photos, the other AI to take photos of you ^__~)

Great little device, upcycled it to Lineage OS and lives on as my Android testbed :)

  • Anyone thinks Samsung will bring back the previous $500 trade in bonus offer as opposed to the current $400? Is it worth the wait? I bought S21 ultra from the previous deal and wondering if I could buy one for my partner, although it's not an urgent thing. What are anyone's thought on this?
Tried to ask "Experts" via chat but your guess is as good as mine, there was no outcome there.

    • +1

Unlikely as they have just extended the $400 trade in & dropped the s21 prices, this deal is only $100 more id just buy it now imo

      • +1

yes, I guess that's probably a good idea. Thanks OP!

  • Kinda salty I didn't get this, but the s20 Fe from the other day was still a good deal. Someone convince me the extra 150 bucks for a s20 Fe over 21 is acceptable?

    Micro SD
    500mah extra battery (I think)?
Extra. 3 inches of diag screen.
    Nothing else basically, sadface.

    • Haha.. I'd get the 256gb s21 given there's no microsd support. So real difference is only $50? That's how I'm justifying it to myself haha.

      • Yes, that is a good way to think of it.

Then we start to think about the benchmarks of the 875 against Exynos 2100 (20% better bench).

Then we talk about the thermal throttling in the 21.
And touch issues in the 20fe.

Bah. I have a 256 microSD to put in this right away.

In 2 years I'll want 1TB microSD if affordable.

    • +3

I'm keeping the S20FE as i absolutely need sd-card support.

If you're having second thoughts remember there is a 15 day change of mind refund policy.

So you can still get this deal if you want, provided you have a device that qualifies for the $400 trade-in.bonus.

      • Very helpful info. Thanks.

Spent so much time tinkering with the phone already, bought a case.

I'm just suffering from making a purchase then getting real interested in phone deals once I've already pulled the trigger.

  • just confirming: the loyalty code needs to be entered in the 'Promo Code' area in the cart ?
i tried, but getting 'invalid code' message. anyone experiencing this ?

——All good now, chatted with a samsung agent and got a new code. Apparently the code was bad !
    cheers!

    • same. looks like no longer stackable

      • Can anyone else confirm that the codes are no longer stackable?
        Thanks

        • +2

I just did the deal 20 mins ago and the $50 and $200 stacked correctly. FWIW, I did the $50 one first.

      • code is case sensitive

  • Exact same deal as 2 weeks ago only the phone is $250 cheaper now, I feel like I got baited. I did the trade in and such exactly 2 weeks ago because the deal was ending then they start this 'new deal' for $250 less.

Bloody scummy, I get new deals start and a few months later sure okay I'd accept it but exactly 2 weeks? I've only had the phone for 8 days ffs.

    • +3

      It happens….

    • +1

How does it make you feel?

      • +1

Like shit, I put all my funds into getting it, $250 is huge for someone on a pension, I fell for their 'deal ending soon' shit I guess.

  • Question, I'm up to the Credit Card details but i don't have a credit card. I have debit cards only.

Should I proceed with "I'll go to the Samsung Store"?

The reason is I currently use Galaxy S8 (and there is a small crack on the screen but everything on the screen works fine), if I go to store they would refuse the trade=-up due to the crack. That's why i wanted to do it Online and keep the phone, I'm happy to pay extra $35.

    • my s8 is worth 35 too without a crack or anything. i would probably give the store a call before you trek to the city to find out. I was going to do the same instead of mailing it but its very out of the way to get to the store.

    • +1

No don’t go in-store, You won’t be able to use the $200 voucher so will cost you $200 more

      • Damn, I don't have a credit card. What's the easiest to get one?

        • You can use debit card as well.

          • @viki8702: I dont think so, in the Tradeup using online option, they keep asking for Credit card details. Either the app is buggedd or they dont accept debit cards, I've entered 3 of my debit cards details in. All were refused

            • @letion: I was having trouble, too. Restarted the phone and it worked, using a debit card.

              • +1

@moksha: Third uninstall got it to work. Thank you

  • I'm in the situation of $415 is a lot more than I'd get for my old Pixel yet I'm not wanting the S21 as I already bought the OP9 and very happy with it.

  • Its an awesome deal if you can get 200$ voucher and 50$ voucher on top of it along with 400 additional cashback on phone return. But the 200$ and 50$ are hard to get hold of. Samsung chat is non existent from morning

    • +1

Got $200 first attempt just make friends with chat staff and don't get to the point right away

  • thanks for this. Got a S21 Ultra 512GB phantom titanium. Live chat gave me the $200 discount code no problem, just had to say I had a phone with a broken screen (no proof needed), used about 10 email address's to try to get the $50 newsletter discount, Finally arrived through a proto mail account. $55 trade in on a old S8+ giving the bonus $400 trade-in discount. All up $1194

  • +2

    Pulled the trigger for S21 - $414 + $35 for TradeIn = $449 :)

  • -3

dont get this phone. using it atm. laggy as (profanity). camera app is a (profanity) joke.

when its plugged into my car and when android auto is running, its super clunky and laggy in operation too.

    • What are you on about? This is probably the fastest phone on the market rn. Maybe your phone has a defect?

    • Cash for comment?

  • So if I just use Samsung Trade-Up ID and don't send the phone will I only get a $35ish fine? Also seems to not be registering anymore "there seems to be an issue with samsung-trade in atm" have we Ozbargained samsung!

    • +4

You will need to register your credit card via the trade in app or you will be shown that error message.

If you don't send in your phone the penalty will be whatever the tradein amount for your phone + $400.00 offer.

      • +2

Don't think the $400 is impacted. The last screen of the apps shows:

Possible fees & Charges - Device not returned $30 (This was for an old Mate 10 Pro)

  • Would they care if you trade-in an apple phone that has a faulty home button?

  • Any Ultra owners that can comment on the widely reported overheating issues?
Have they been addressed or are they still a problem?

    • What overheating? The only time my phone heats up is when I'm on mobile data and the phone is charging and I'm using the phone for gaming/video calls.

  • +1

FYI For those asking for invoice screenshots and claiming 28deg or Coles price protection, you wouldn't be able to have the trade up bonus in there,

Price Protection does not cover a lower price:

offered as part of a special deal involving other items or benefits,

    • so price protection won't work?

you mean can't put in $400 off?
      but can put the $200 + $50?

      • Yeah $200 and $50 should be fine , but I wouldn't put in the $400 as it involves a trade

        • Many here did the $400 trade up bonus, so without adding it in
when comparing our invoice to the new checkout price, wouldn't the price be higher than our own invoice price?

Would that mean the price protection wouldn't apply in this case (since new price needs to be lower than what we paid for it)?

Have you tried this in the past (with the trade in bonus) and got rejected?

          • @pinkybrain: I don't know what you paid originally but if it's less than this without the $400 bonus then yes, no point doing a claim.

No I haven't tried it in the past, I just know both Coles and 28d pds pretty well from doing over a hundred claims lol.

            • @MeesusEff: yeah it won't matter much how much i paid cos just some math shows $400 is quite a big discount.

              e.g.
              1249 - 650 (discounts = 400+200+50) = $599 - phone trade value

              new price
              1099 - 250 = (discounts = 200+50) = $849 (no phone traded)

              849 - 599 = $250

there is already $250 price difference in the new price (which is higher) not to mention I didn't subtract the value of my phone from 599
which would make it even more than $250 difference.

  • Annoying I cannot get the $50 voucher - have everything else loaded in the cart - tried the email [email protected] but it bounced.

AWESOME deal though - best OzB bargain i have hit i reckon

  • If only I haven't purchased the S20 FE from the previous deal… I would've pull the trigger on the S21 Plus

    • So do I. But it seems this deal requires an old eligible device which I don't have…

    • +1

Samsung has 15 days change of mind refund.

So return the s20fe and buy the s21 if you have a device to trade in.

      • +1

I remember seeing that when buying, but I thought it said the box had to be unopened.. which doesn't make any sense, why would you buy a phone an not open it for 2 weeks, so happy to be corrected on this, but if phone must not have ever been used, many people won't be able to get a refund,

But can someone confirm you can return an opened phone and what costs are incurred for the return?

        • +1

Looks like if you've opened the box you are unable to claim change of mind refund.

          https://www.samsung.com/au/estore/static/link_mindpolicy_p/

"b. ensure that the Mobile Product for which they are seeking an exchange or refund is unused and in a re-sellable condition in Samsung’s reasonable opinion (including the packaging being un-opened, the seal intact and all in-box items, including warranty cards and user manuals, being in the box)."

  • Yeah I can't get the $50 voucher either. So annoying as I'm ready to checkout on this awesome deal!

  • +2

pulled the trigger… using iphone 6s. valued at $5….

Not even going to bother sending it in… its still working fine.

Used a disposable coles prepaid mastercard of which i will leave $5 for them to take out.

    • May I ask which one you brought?

      • s21 128gb. I intend to sell it for $750-850. Pocket the difference and still keep my iphone 6s.

    • Where to buy such a master card from? Online? Or in store? I am in a same boat as you and trading in my iphone 6 128GB for $5 and is in good condition too.

      • I got mine from one of those buy $100 Coles mastercard get 1000 flybuy points deal.

Without the deal the activation cost would be 4 or 5$ I think

        • +1

Thanks buddy, but I was under impression that these cards can only be used for the participating stores such Coles themselves if it's a Coles prepaid mastercard. I am happy to buy it for an extra cost of $4 or $5 but just need to know if it will work just fine for Asurion.

  • Really aggressive campaign from Samsung, I wonder it’s because of poor S21 sales…

    • -1

s21 in oz market is not the same specification as the other country. It seems like they are offering a worse chip for us.
