On clearance, normally $25-30. Handy for camping, doomsday prepping, etc.

I find these Willow cans seal better than the Bunnings water cans.

The cheaper cans has plastic flashing/burrs on the mouth (from the moulding process) making the lid seal unevenly.

It has a bung but tap not included. Comes with pourer funnel. A bung or tap can be stored in the lid.

  • Can I use this to hoard GAS?

Or get 2 X 10 litre water bottles for $8. Comes with free water, plus Woolies donates $0.40 on your behalf

Big difference in durability between the two.

        They'll both outlast religion.

Those ALDI, Woolies and Coles 10L water "boxes" do not claim that they are BPA free, so if you care about "dangerous BPA chemicals altering your DNA", then get this one made to be reused and probably sustain some direct sunlight instead of exploding/leaking.

How about this one instead and has multiple different uses. Will save on gas too ;). I was being a little cheeky with my first comment.

        • +1

Yeah, this one looks like an improvised "beer distributor" at a party :)

      • Didnt see it claim BPA free on ads, are you sure

      • +1

hasn't there been recent discussion regarding that and BPA might not be so harmful as we once thought? I vaguely recall reading something about the original discovery that was behind the "bpa bad" idea and i think they were scrubbing down the plastic with really harsh chemicals. i've also read about how the plastics that they've started using instead of BPA, like tritan, are supposedly just as bad and have their own issues.

        • It might have, science does tend to correct itself very often. Just like we used to believe that asbestos is 100% safe, and cigarettes are a doctor approved and recommended stress relievers.

I have read that since removing BPA, the plastic has lost it’s longevity and durability compared to plastics with BPA. In the end, I use glass because it is the safest for sure.

It was probably a marketing spin, to make customers replace the BPA “infected” containers with new, safer BPA-free containers.

    • They aren't designed to be reused, so not really an alternative.

      • Yes I know. I was just speaking in jest.

Does it have a bung to attach a tap at the bottom?

  • Great for hoarding fuel in the US.

  • Just pay double and get a non-clear one. You will be alge build-up with these even if there is residue water on the inside.

I watched a WWII documentary recently which said the British in the North African desert.envied the German "jerrycan" (Einheitskanister). They were highly prized items when captured. Water and fuel for the Brits was carried in a leaky rectangular 2-gallon or 4-gallon metal box called a flimsy, made of panels fastened together. These plastic Willow containers look almost exactly like a WWII metal jerrycan. This trivia brought to you by my Binge trial subscription.

That was indeed interesting and led me to this post with plenty pictures which you may be interested in: http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=29470

      • Loved seeing that. Thanks. A picture in that thread of British flimsy cans next to a jerrycan says it all. You too can pretend you stole your Willow cans from the Germans. https://i.imgur.com/VNAqI09.jpg

lmao, i looked up gerry can history exactly a week ago…
the forum of gerry can discussion really put them in perspective…

    • +3

Wow, can't believe that these are called jerry cans because of "jerry" and I didn't know until now. It's funny how people didn't want a dog named after them but the named a can after then
