    • Xmas 2022, lots of happy friends.

  • Noob question: can this do display and power from my monitor? If not, any suggestions on how I can find one that does? The cable that came with my monitor is starting to show some wear..

    • +4

It says 480 Mbps which means it's only USB 2.0 so it will not work for display.
There is a table on the listing page which show "No support" for display.

      • Thanks for the reply. I bought a 100w 5a PD one off Amazon which didn’t work either. Not really sure how to google the type of cable I’d need.

This is likely what you are after ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32835189093.html ) however, I don't own this myself so I cannot say with 100% certainty. I can however vouch for Minix on their quality and extremely fast shipping time.

      • Great thanks. Anything in particular I should search for? If the cable supports display that mean automatically supports power too?

        • Thunderbolt 3 cables would be fine. You may pay more though.

Try searching for terms like 4K, 10 Gbps and USB 3.1. And exclude those with USB 2.0 and 480 Mbps.

Power and display capabilities don't necessarily come together. But display compatible cables will also do at least PD 60W most of the time.

Just make sure to read the specs and check if it has the power (60W or 100W) and the resolution/refresh rate (4K @ 60Hz) that you need.

Thanks OP, got one. Maybe change the photo from the metal to plastic as this is a little missleading.

No worries, all good. I was just knit-picking anyway lol.

  • Paid A$1.58, a loss of A$0.07 :)

    • Here I thought i overpaid much (paid AUD 1.53) but felt so much better after seeing your post.

These are bad cables. Used for an Android phone as charging and data transfer and it worked for around a month. After that, started randomly disconnecting the Android storage drive. A couple weeks later it no longer recognises the phone at all. Windows says there's a problem with the USB drive. The cable was connected to the PC all the time and never bent. Should be called CableTrash. Have gone back to my old Baseus cable.

    • This exact cable?

      • Yes. Will never buy this brand again. 60W…hah. Can't even establish a data connection.

        • Interesting. Obviously not the USB-C port on your computer then.

    • Well, saved me $1 and a few months wait and lots of plastic wrapping.

  • Maybe a dumb question, but how do you find these coupon codes? Is it directly from the seller or do you Google them somehow?

      Magic.

A more serious answer is that I regularly ask stores for deals.
