290

Usually 129.95 down to $35 and a current promotion for Australia day is free shipping on orders over $19.

Haven't flown this one personally but other swann branded RC choppers work well and are usually pretty good quality.

edit: Youtube link from figarow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBf2Vspx6kw of the chopper in action.

      This isn't YouTube, pendejo.

    • N-n-n-nostalgia fail :)

$129 rrp really, do they think we are stupid?

  • +1

"The remote control transmits using a powerful 27MHz radio frequency allowing the chopper to fly higher and further than most indoor helicopters, up to 100ft (30m)."

I have high ceilings, but not that high!

    • rofl this is just completely misleading marketing crap.

27mhz is probably the most congested frequency in the world as most of the RC toys are using it.

      • stop hanging out with all ur RC toy owning friends and u will be fine. :p

but seriously, do most new rc toys come as ir?

      • +3

Yep, it's probably congested, but RF is miles ahead of all the other helicopters in this price range which are IR.

        • +1

Yeah RF is FAR superior than IR

  • Anybody know what a twin-rotor helicopter is like to fly? Looks complicated.

Website is not working well, gives "The store is temporarily closed for maintenance." and resets intermittently.

Their recon security cameras looked cheap until I saw it was all outdated analogue TV technology. Even the "HD" cameras are PAL/NTSC output.

    • twin-rotor helicopter's rotors rotated in counter-rotating direction to cancel out each other's torque in order to prevent the helicopter turns to one direction all the time.

  • Well this one is $25.39 delivered, not sure about the differences…. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Syma-S026G-3-5CH-Mini-Chinook…

Edit: ok just looked up the this link and it seems the swann is much bigger: http://www.techbuy.com.au/p/180159/GADGETS_REMOTE_CONTROL_HE…

    • wow - just watched the youtube video, didn't realise how large it is!

the same swann airforce chopper RC is on ebay for $125 delivered.
I think its a genuine bargain i'm trying to order one or two.

  • Hmm, other swann choppers i have bought are basically rubbish. Purchased three from a previous ozbargain deal, 2 died on the first flight after one minor crash. Swann sent out two replacements, one died on first flight withouht a crash, so i will be getting my money back from them

    • Big question would be how easy are the parts to come by. I have owned and flown many rc helicopters and it only takes 1 crash for the fun to end, if the parts are available and cheap then this would be a good buy.

      • +2

For the price, just buy two.
Hedging your bets that you will now have a complete chopper for spares.

    • A friend bought some of these from the last swann sale and a couple failed as well. If its simply that one of the rotors has stopped working - you can repair them fairly easily.

Just unscrew the landing gear/section then all of the screws holding the plastic case itself. Pull off one side and you will most likely find a cog has fallen off the end of the motor spindle. Push it back on and voilà, all fixed.

    • Heh, I had three of those Swann Missile Strike helis from the last deal. Got two of them too close to the ceiling and they both carked it. Same problem too - the lower rotor became detached from the shaft and so would no longer spin properly.

      Is that what you had?

      • That's exactly the problem, happened to 2 of the 3 he bought (after crash landings and not shutting the engines down quickly enough when they landed).

If you pull them apart, there is hardly anything in them - just use a really small jewelers screwdriver and remove the base landing gear (black plastic section) then all of the side screws. Hopefully the Cog will still be inside, rattling about - you can compare with the working rotor to work out how it should be setup.

      • Didn't see this till now, thanks, will try when I get home tonight!

  • website not working for me wont let me order.
Has anyone managed to place and order on one?

    • I put an order through just fine - a few mins before I posted the deal.

1600 clicks through from ozbargain must be to much for them!

  • so you get 8 minutes fly time and then you have to recharge for 1.5 hours. lol!

  • website sux so slow

  • I think this 2 X Pen-cam deal delivered for $19 is a much better deal personally.

    http://www.swannstore.com.au/cart.php?target=product&product…

    • yeh save $161 ….. whats the difference between these and the $10 ones on ebay

  • I already have a helicopter coming in the mail but this is a bargain! So I bought this one too. Time to start my helicopter collection/hobby .

    • same :D returning my crap one from parkela market on sat.

  • +2

This looks similar to the swann ones they sell at costco for under $30
I remember it coz it's got the twin blades and looks like an army helicopter and I was eyeing it to buy for hubby

    • Can any1 confirm Costco have these for less than $30?

And if they have seen stock lately?

    • +1

The one @ costco is smaller. I have one and it flies very well. Extremely stable and super easy to fly, charges via USB as well. it's about 20cm long..

Charge time is under 25mins and flight time is about 7 mins. Ours has copped a hiding and not broken, comes with spare blades as well (they do get hammered as they hit each other on a rough landing or crash)…

Great Mini RC heli for the cash… Much better than the others I've owned.

  • Lol u gave a neg on the deal because they don't send to po box. That rediculus mate.

  • So how easy the chopper to crash and break?
I have never played a chopper toy.

    • All you need is space and indoors - like your garage. Outside is too tough for first time. Practice with a pedestal fan in your garage.
Garage is safest place at home.

  • Wasted nearly 2 hours trying to get through the order process. Keeps losing my session ID and cart contents and returning blank pages. Now it's completely broken and just churning out php errors. Frustrating to say the least.

  • I think they're running off a Swann modem

  • yeah i gave up trying to order something..

  • LOL. with special effect on the VIDEO from the time 1:50 sec. LOL

  • These helicopters are hard to fly and for 'advanced RC helicopter pilots'… I think I'm going to have great difficulty :(

  • heh i ordered one and its my 1st RC Helicopter~ hope its doesn't crash too fast. xD
are they that hard to control?

  • Just want to add that my heli came today, I crashed, and now one of the motors is borked :(. Opened it up, and all 4 motors read S022. We're in luck! This heli is the Syma S022, and spare parts can be found!

  • Costco had this exact model for $25 last christmas, bought one for my dad and one for me :)

Edit: They dont have them stocked any more, looks it they just had them in for christmas.

  • Mine came in today, couple days delivery..

How do you stop it from spinning slightly counter-clockwise is it meant to do that? I can control the spin using the control but if I just want to hover using the throttle itself you can't?

At most I'd pay is $40 for this helicopter… looks like it can break easily. Battery ran out after 10-20 mins of flying.

  • Got mine yesterday too - a nice upgrade from the mini I had before.

You'll notice some small push buttons by the right side of the controller.

They will adjust your spin ….small inputs, but it will trim nicely.
