    Health Admin?
    People actually do these courses?

    • +2

Yes of course they do. As a trainer and assessor I can assure you there are quals needed to do these roles, although experience is also counted. These are the admin staff who admit you into hospital and work in Drs surgeries on reception and similar jobs. Without them the medical system wouldn’t function.

      • How much does a health admin get paid out of interest?

        • Not sure, I am sure there would be an award rate 🙂

        • They get paid between $55-$60k per year. The catch is most of the facilities related to Health work during the night, weekends, and holidays which pay well. Most of the students get attracted because of the job security the Health industry offers.

          • @Rini: Sorry, but this is where I question the need for courses like this.
An unskilled admin at my government department will start on $65k a year, without prior experience.

            • @Drakesy: Which department?

            • @Drakesy: Exactly, that's where courses like ours come into place, where the students finish the course, get practical training and real industry exposure, and then only apply for the jobs.

              • @Rini: I think you may've missed my point

  • Hi just wanted to know if this is free of charge if you are already working in health administration or is it only available for those that are school leavers/unemployed? Thanks

    • I am not associated with this company, but I am a trainer and assessor. Having looked at the course, it is designed for anyone, no prior experience required. However I cannot confirm the funding requirements - they would need to tell you that. 🙂

    • Hi
Its free of cost if your highest qualification is less than the level you are applying for. If you hold a concession card or unemployed, its free too.

I actually signed to one of the free certificate courses and been getting texts and email to sign documents and reminders everyday, feel like not doing it now as it feels like a scam

    • Have you signed them? Most education has some forms you need fill out.

      • +1

no, not yet was planning to but the reminders every day to sign them is not normal, I also got 4 missed calls from them aswell….so weird

        • +1

Ok that is odd, which institution?

          • @Jenny Death: IHNA, certificate in pathology free course which I filled in the online form, a week ago

    • Bingo
      They sign you up
      You drop out
End up with a hecs debt
      Educator still gets paid
Its been going on for a while

      • not unless it's free, in this case the course is free, so no hecs debt

        • +2

          True
          Government still pays

          • @Drakesy: The government pays the Institute as the student finishes and improves in the course. They will not pay blindly. The institute thus will support the student to the maximum so that they finish the course, plus there are timely audits to ensure the quality as well. We are happy to give you a call and talk about the health course options with you :)

      • Hi.. HECS is for higher education only. The Certificate courses are free for all eligible Victorians. You may heard 'Free TAFE' campaigns. Its a similar arrangement.

    • Hi.. Of course, you have to sign the documents to avail the study option. It is a legal requirement and will submit to the Skills Victoria Training System(SVTS) https://www.education.vic.gov.au/svts > The Victorian government will pay the fees to the institute on behalf of the eligible students.

      • This is obvious, what shouldn't happen is the organisation hassling the person to sign documents send texts, emails and calling every day.

        • +1

Part of their job mate. Students who wish to study, usually sign up fast and the staff can go to the next one. Ive been in this industry for a while. :)

Since this is delivered online I'm wondering if theres some way this cert can be done out of state while still getting the government funding?

    • +1

The course is provided through Face to Face or blended mode of delivery. It will be delivered over 770 hours including theory, self-paced structured e-learning, simulation training (120 hours) and 160 hours of work based training/ professional experience placement (PEP).

      FACE TO FACE ON-CAMPUS:
Students are required to attend 20 contact hours per week physically at the campus and professional experience placements.

      BLENDED
20 contact hours will be delivered through synchronised online learning which includes on- campus simulation based training and Professional experience placement.

^— either way … you need to do professional placement to be successful in this course. The only way you could get away with being interstate is if you lived in a border community and you could travel across the border to Vic to do your placement.

    • Funding depends on Lots of factors. For ex, funding norms are different in different states.

please note the link is incorrect.

the correct link is : https://ihna.edu.au/courses/certificate-iv-health-administra…

  • This looks like advertising. The "L" plater posting just to get business.

    • +1

usual course cost is $3500 … so technically this is a bargain :p

      • There must be other institutes providing the same course for free.
