    Hard to find stock

    • You can always use this to price match with JB or others.
If Samsung store matches price then use any email signup for news letter and you will get $50 voucher. which will bring the price further down.

      • Will they match if they cannot find stock? My local JB is not very friendly when it comes to price match….

        • +4

Can I interest you in a deal on a house in a different location?

        • +1

Oh ok in SA the store I go they are really friendly, even OW they don't look for the product code etc.
You can show product + Postage and then they will price match it right?

          • @APN Adelaide: What store is that out of curiosity?
I bought a Nokia 8 from Marion OW back in late 2018 for $250 with price match for another Officeworks store, but they quite reluctant.

      • But how to know not the older non SD model?

        • +1

Mint is the only colour with SD

Beware colors other than Mint change the processor to Exynos in description.

    • bought thanks

How is the camera, wife just dropped p30 pro, the camera cannot autofocus. Need a new phone.

      • -2

Seems like camera would be a huge downgrade from p30 pro. I may wait for something else.

        • You need insurance (accidental breakage), not so much as a new phone.

          • @Oofy Doofy: You know what, I think she just want a new phone. It's been 2 years, people need something new.

            • +2

@ce5himm: Need? How do I do a weird squint emoji…

              As you said, 'want'.

        • I would consider getting DJI Pocket 2 for about $500 if I only needed to upgrade camera and did not have any other issues with my current phone. But that's me, not sure if your wife likes the idea.

          • @mangoed: It would not be convenient to upload and share to social media. If you are using two device. Plus, one more device, her bag will be too small, and she will demand a new bag. It's an endless loop. Lol

            • @ce5himm: It should be pretty convenient as the camera plugs into phone's USB port (if you don't want to use it separately) and there's a quite powerful DJI app to create, edit and share media. But I agree that it's not everyone's cup of tea.

              • @mangoed: We have a dji action camera, I know it works the same way, even that my wife doesn't like it. Thanks for the idea.

                • +3

@ce5himm: changing the wife might work out cheaper. Just saying.

                  • +1

@kekw: Changing the wife never works out cheaper, trust me

    • worth giving a warranty claim a shot?

      • Out of warranty last month. ….

        • ACL would not agree with this, they'd extend it based on price and the length of time you've had it (not that long)

          • @Oofy Doofy: Yes, we had it since April 2019.

            • @ce5himm: I would try your luck with ACL, you have nothing to lose.

          • @Oofy Doofy: How tho? It's faulty through a drop not through a defect.

            • +1

@giventofly: As Karen once said: The customer is always right!

            • @giventofly: Of course I agree, but how much of a drop are we talking… Maybe it shouldn't break so easily (at least that part of it) from a simple elbow height fall. I really don't know the answer, nor do I know the details of the drop.

I suppose Huawei could decide at their inspection and discretion.

    • They both have pretty much the same score on DXOmark - 115 for the Samsung Vs 116 for the p30 pro. They will have different strengths.

Both very decent scores I might add.

  • Just had this price matched in store. Turns out only the mint one is the 2021 model. If you click on any of the other colours on that page it has specs for the Exynos version

  • Guess JB should price match

  • -2

    Exynos is trash.

      Qualcomm Snapdragon 865

      🙂

  • Be a few years before 5g is commonplace and included on normal prepaid plans

    • I will give it a couple years top. Vodafone already have 5G on most if not all of its prepaid. Optus is rolling out. Some of their reseller like Telsim is 5G. Boost has 5G enable but will not let you use it yet.

5G is only get more stable and honestly, I love my 300Mbs+

      • Boost has 5G enable but will not let you use it yet

        How does that work?

        • My phone detect it has 5G frequency but it cant switch to the frequency due to no response.

    • +1

I don't know for the rest of Australia but our 4g is pretty good in Vic. I can get higher speeds on 4g than people can get in the US on 5g (not those YouTuber tests). We seem to be doing well mobile data speed wise. https://www.speedtest.net/insights

      • I'm curious to know what 5G can do in real terms beyond 4G for tasks you'd be doing on mobile handset. Is the latency any better or is it just download? I can't say I'm left wanting from my current 4G service.

        • 4k mobile porn on the go? I'm sure you'd notice how much quicker it would load webpages and if you're streaming a live footy match, but I guess most people wouldn't feel like they need this. I certainly have no complaints with my 4G.

  • Good deal, bought the Exynos version for $501 recently but would prefer to pay an extra $96 for Snapdragon. Was unaware of the difference at the time.

    • Was going to get this as well from Samsung education store but I gave up waiting for the $50 sign up voucher. It never came, even after talking to support chat. It's pretty disappointing that such a leader in mobile technology cannot get this right.

      • True it took 3.5 days for me to get the code, and that was only after contacting them that they sent it to me.

        • It's been over a week since I subscribed. No code yet!

    Price showing $697 in cart

    • Yeah, price changed now. Looks like it is SD version and someone put the price wrong.

  • Does this version have touch screen issues as well?

  • $697.00 for mint

    • Yes same to me

  • +1

Is this a worthy upgrade from a Samsung Galaxy S10?

  • +8

Looks like Snapdragon Mint is now $697

  • Waiting to see if they'll cancel/refund or send the exynos mint colour. Does the old exynos version have mint colour ?

    • +2

I ordered and selected pickup - says it's ready. I'll let you know tonight when I go. It was the one with the 'NEW' sticker on the picture.

    • Yep looks like the old Exynos version was also available in Mint colour.

      • +3

        Just picked it up.
Looks to be the SD version.

        Model on box is SM-G780G

        • What's the model number of the old one?

          • +1

            @nekov: SM-G780F

            • +1

@albot: Awesome thanks! Hope it gets delivered tomorrow

        • Does it come with pre-installed screen protector?

    • +1

Just received mine this morning delivered. SM-G780G which is the Snapdragon model. You should be fine. It was BRS20FEMNT on their picking slip too.

      • Got mine… SM-G780G as well.. Happy days !

        Thanks OP !

  • So the only reason I was getting the 5g version was to get the snapdragon, can I now get the 4g version with the snapdragon and the exact same internals as the 5g model?, just with no 5g? This phone now has 3 very similar versions, Samsung really don't like to make it easy to they? Haha.

    • +2

      S20 FE 5G: All SD865
      S20 FE 4G (2021): SD865
      S20 FE 4G: Exynos

      • Yeah cheers. I know that now but the average punter will have no clue about what's going on and will likely buy the exynos version when for the same price they get the far better snapdragon. Maybe the average punter wouldn't notice the difference though haha.

        • +1

How can the average punter tell? Is it possible to know before opening the box if it's SD or Exynos?

          • +3

            @Tgb: Yes, model is SM-G780G

            • +2

@albot: Thanks, arrived this morning and its SM-G780G.

              • @Tgb: Great!
Seems like a great phone but it has really made me appreciate just HOW good the build quality and screen on the Galaxy Note8!

  • Excuse my ignorance but I thought all the FE variants were Snapdragon? Or is only the 5G?

    • +1

The previous version of the FE 4G was using the Exynos chip, and the 5G version uses the Snapdragon chip. The new FE 4G model uses the Snapdragon chip too.

  • +3

Price now showing as $597 again following the link in post!

    • +1

Yep, just ordered it coz my Huawei Mate 9 finally died. Thanks OP!

      • Same! Just scored one from my local Officeworks, picking up tomorrow :D

  • Was thinking of getting galaxy a52. Is this a better buy?

    • -1

Depends on what you need from a phone, your budget and the price difference

      • They are same price at $600 and from reviews seem fairly on par.
A52 does keep the headphone jack tho which I like.

Interested in knowing if there's a clear cut winner or if either is kinda just as good.

        • 5g? Camera quality? Wireless charging? Weight? Processor? Design? Headphone jack? Software updates?

          • -2

@ihfree: That is why they are asking the question I presume, to get our opinions. You can pretty much give your answer to any product comparison, so give your views if you have them.

            • @FabMan: Buying a phone is a personal experience. I've given a list of prompts for them to evaluate the phone on. I'd have responded of they'd replied.

In my opinion, the winner is the S20FE if they're both at the same price point. However camera quality, wireless charging and having a headphone jack likely don't have the same weighting to that user hence the questions.

I'm more than happy to answer questions about products as long as I feel there's some effort by the user to help themselves.

Honestly, please don't insert yourself into conversations and go off topic. Please stop being so judgemental.

              • @ihfree: "Depends on what you need from a phone, your budget and the price difference"

They told you the price and difference in a reply post so then you threw out random phone components still without giving an opinion.

"Buying a phone is a personal experience."

So is buying many things, this doesn't change that an opinion can be given.

"In my opinion, the winner is the S20FE if they're both at the same price point."

Exactly like this, why not tell them that from the start, or at least when you were told the price.

I can go off topic thanks, people do here all the time, I thought your posts were unhelpful.

  • +1

Picked one up at adelaide, thanks

  • Hell yes back to $597 after shooting back up to $697 for the afternoon. No idea what happened but I'm stoked, that's a bargain at that price for the snapdragon. Thanks OzB.

  • Bought after cracking my A71. Going to cost me $300 dollars+ to get fixed or I can just get this for a couple of hundred more and flog the A71 on market place. Looking forward to the camera upgrade.

  • Back to $697, booo

  • I was on my mob driving when I saw this. Got home to buy one now and the mint is now $697……………..bummer

    • Same, back to 697 for me.

    • Keep an eye on it because this happened yesterday. $597 in the morning which I missed, $697 all afternoon and then back down to $597 at 6pm for some reason. Got lucky and checked this post again and someone was saying it's back down and I scooped one up.

    • You check Ozbargain while you drive?

  • alright who crashed the officework website??

  • Is it still a good deal at $697?

    • $697 is the normal price, so not a bargain but it's up to you if that's good value.
