  • Whats with the X570 non stop going on sale for the past 3 months? Overstock?

    • Loads of mobos, not enough CPUs?
      No GPUs?

Retailers are being forced by suppliers to buy up pallets of other stock (storage, cases, PSU's, coolers, peripherals and motherboards) just so they have access to a few units of graphics cards. The bundle deals essentially pass the burden to the retailer since if they don't manage to sell the product they received, they make a loss.

To avoid making a loss, you'd have no choice but to:

      • continually put non-gpu stock on sale since you don't want tonnes of stock sitting around in your warehouse
      • Keep the prices of the GPU high and above MSRP. No point selling them at below MSRP because people are willing to buy them at any price anyway, even if it's something ridiculous like $1000 for RTX 3060
    • Lots of speculation has been had in previous deals about:
-Retailers only being able to purchase high end graphics cards in bundles, especially RTX 30-series cards
-Retailers then selling GPUs immediately to cover the cost of the bundles and sell before any potential price drop occurs
      - Global silicon shortage affecting GPUs + CPUs more than Mobos, leading to excess supply
-Consumers only being able to purchase graphics cards through luck or pre-built/custom-built systems, reducing demand for individual components

What can you do i guess, it was a good price at the time (I think i had some discounted giftcards as well if i recall). Saying that, has pretty much happened any time i bought a computer part to put aside til my GC arrived. Happy to have got it all up and running now though!

What is the point? Seriously, if we can't get decent video cards, why even bother trying to build a new system.
