Heres the Blurb I find most relevant.

  • Looks to be available for 250 delivered from a dj store on - without the headphones i guess - though perhaps that's a single one not a pair??

Can anybody comment about what these are like?

    ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/164504409871?chn=ps&norover=1&mk…

    • I would assume it's only one on that ebay page.

    • Yep, just one.
Some producers prefer to work on mono, so they buy just the one.

Be aware that KRK has a very distinct voice, much less "flat" and more "finished" than most studio monitors.

I've seen these speakers on lot of youtube channels. Does they sound that good? Why do youtubers that are not in musical fields use them?

As the comment right above you mentioned

"Be aware that KRK has a very distinct voice, much less "flat" and more "finished" than most studio monitors"

Youtubers have no clue what they are doing generally but have plenty of mums cash and they are yellow (=cool)

    • there is an amp in each speaker rather than one amp in one speaker powering 2 speakers ….so the KRK runs cooler than many others that are a single amp shared between 2 speakers. Also decent heat sinking.

  • Is this overkill for a PC setup?

They're for music production, so if you're looking to play games or watch movies, they might not be the best, since they are normally void of 'character' like bass warmth, etc.

In music production the warmth and personality of the music comes from the mixing and equalizing and other stuff, so Studio Monitors typically are flatter so it allows you to hear the signal and sound 'as designed'.

Other sound systems like Logitech ones for your PC have bass and warmth/personality in the sound built into the system to make it sound better.

These aren't really for music production. More for DJs etc monitoring mixes or finished tracks you wouldn't want to produce on these as they aren't that flat. Probably why you don't really see any actual producers with these unless they are listening to finished tracks. I'd definetely still recommend some logitechs on sale for your average user though

  • I just bought the KRK ROKIT RP8G4 8" Studio Monitors for $699 delivered. Great deal
Moreso for the wider frequency range of 36Hz - 40Khz, dont need a subwoofer unless you plan on scoring films, which i dont.

  • I need recommendations for 3.5mm to XLR or TRS that can be seperated at least 2m apart please. Thanks

    • Same here, and pretty much for the same distance. Not sure how to connect a pair of studio monitors to my PC's sound card.

Did you ever get any recommendations?
