Bose Soundlink Mini II SE Silver/Black $149.95 (Was $229.95) + Free Shipping @ Bose

880

Bose EOFY sale (I cannot see an end date for this sale, so I assume 30 June 2021 or until sold out). This is a similar price to a David Jones deal posted in March 2021 by Wind (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/611431). However, I bought from Amazon when they priced matched, but they cancelled the order a couple of days ago with a sincere note of apology for wasting my time. The Bose shop had this advertised for the last few days at $229.95 (maybe longer). Shipping is free on orders over $30. This is the special edition version and is available in silver and black at the time of posting. The difference between the Soundlink Mini II and the Soundlink Mini II SE is a better battery for the SE, it uses USB-C for charging, and the SE version is 2019 as opposed to 2015 for the Soundlink Mini II (https://versopo.com/en/bose-soundlink-mini-ii-vs-bose-soundl…). Version two is a significant upgrade from version one, which I have. While I am no audiophile, this is a great speaker, powerful enough for my ears, a great bass sound, a compact design, and an aluminium unibody construction. When the new speaker arrives the current one will head to my mother's house to continue its long fruitful service to the family. Of course, there are newer speaker models from a plethora of companies, but if the Soundlink Mini II SE performs anywhere near my old unit I will feel this is a steal at $149.95. I believe Cashrewards offer 2% at the Bose store.

Do you remember when we got this for 100

    • +2

      Yes, Xmas 2019

    • +10

Yes I never shut up about that bargain

    • Its actually a really good speaker too! Really happy

    • +1

Was that when their website was broken and multiple discount codes were stacking? I only managed to get 1 to work and got it for $143… then bose charged me an extra $16 a few days later after they'd already sent me the item. Their customer support refused to refund me, told me to either send it back for a full refund or cop the surprise charge. Had to dispute through paypal to get the $16 back.

      • +7

I love that you played the game for $16!! :D

      • Jeez they took their frustration on you. That's bad

    • good times :)

    • Good times in 2019. I still use my device a few times a week. Absolutely the best speaker around when you judge sound, build quality and versatility.

    • Yeah , very good deal, been using it as my PC speaker..it's awesome

    • Yes, that was awesome, hacking the Bose site with the Honey browser extension, a true OzBargain moment. I use the speaker every day, move it around the house when I need to do chores, have it on in the bathroom while shaving, carry it in a bum bag while doing gardening (better than paying for a SoundWear).

    • That was one of the best bargains I've gotten from the site. Got myself and my brother one and we use it regularly, didn't think I needed one back then but felt FOMO when I purchased his

    • +1

Good old times. I still look at mine with a smile every time I walk past.

  • Be good to use as a speaker for tv you think? My tv speaker went kapput!

    • +1

Not sure if it’s that good for tv….definitely good for music on the go …or small to average room.

    • +1

Nah, better off getting a cheap soundbar for the same price

    • Should be fine. The sound is clear enough for vocals from a distance

    • +1

It works, but you are better off getting a proper set of speakers i.e. edifier r1280

  • Good price

  • +1

Iv'e had the Bose Soundlink Mini2 since it first came out ,and it's very good , but Soundcore sounds much better and can be stereo linked to a second one . has a smartphone app and is waterproof.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Soundcore-Bluetooth-Extended-Custo…

    • i wouldnt buy it because of the app. i want the speaker simple and not crippled by unreliable app.

good alternative if people are looking for this.

      • Each to his own , I personally prefer an app, as I like to change the sound with the EQ , and link a second speaker if i want to.

    • +1

Soundcore is much bigger in size. Bose is quality and nice compact size.

      • +1

Agreed for the size, and if you want a really simple speaker , you cant beat the Bose

        • Plus for the size of the soundcore I'd expect and want built in google assistance etc

          • +1

@Damonator84: I deliberately bought the Soundcore because it didn't have an in built microphone in my home listening all the time.

      • +1

The Bose only 8 Watt. Soundcore is 30 Watt.

        • Practical application of portability, the Bose is the winner.

          • +3

@Damonator84: Both are portable but only one supports lossless audio (AptX) and has 4 times the power (not to mention waterproof with customisable sound).

If I was after real portability with good sound, I'd get this for half the price. It also makes for a great shower speaker, unlike the Bose. Heck, you can even get two for the price of the Bose and set them up as a stereo pair, and still have more power than the SoundLink. Bose is for suckers.

How much is it. Amazon isn't showing the price.

      • Fine here. $135.99

  • +1

ugh. suspicious that amazon had their shipment cancelled then suddenly bose has the sale. one could suspect that bose decided to use it for sale fodder on their own store.

    • +3

Suspect whatever you like. Bose own the stock until it is sold and can do as they like with it. I can't fault them for not wanting to make the Jeff Bezos monster any richer. Doing it themselves, Bose get direct kudos for the sale instead of people attributing the price reduction to Amazon. Better for Bose but not necessarily for Bose buyers🙁

From experience, Bose customer support is excellent. I won't give the details because Bose may not look after others the same way but I was very happy with what they did for me when I had a problem with a device not working as it should. For product support like that I am prepared to pay a little more.

      • -1

Bose may be going out of business. They've already closed down all of their stores and still losing money. There may not be any product support going forward.

        • -1

Cool story. Needs more unicorns and dragons though.

          • -1

@KangaDrew: Bose to shut down its 19 Australian stores. But don't let your fanboism stand in the way of the facts.

            • -1

@elektron: Oh, I didn't realise owning only two Bose products made someone a fanboi. Good to know.

              Let's talk facts then…

              You:

"Bose may be going out of business"
"There may not be any product support going forward"

Also you: posts link to article from nearly 18 months ago which clearly states in the first sentence

Electronics retailer Bose will shut down its 19 Australian retail stores over the next few months, with the intent to focus on its e-commerce offer in the region.

So, how about you talk opinions while I talk facts.

              Good chat.

      • +3

Yeah but they did screw the customers who already had orders and had waited for several months. So its not all rosy for Bose in this situation. I would attribute this to Bose screwing existing customers with orders to make more selling it directly themselves.

    • Wouldn't they have got more money on Amazon cause it's priced much higher

      • +1

        It was $150
I had a an order with them since march (went out of stock right when i ordered it)
Then two days ago the order was suddenly cancelled and then suddenly this deal for the same price came up on Bose directly.

Seems clear that they held the stock back so they could sell it themselves.
Bose essentially cancelled their shipments to customers (through one of their resellers) who had been waiting for 3 months so they could sell it themselves to other customers.

Nice one OP, been wanting one of these for a while. Great price!

  • +3

I bought one of these for my wife to use for teaching Physical Culture. She uses it in a school hall and it works well. Have had it since Jan 2020 and never a problem. For those who may be interested, I picked up this little case - because ours is being carried around all the time - and it is a ripper. I paid about $20. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/154341641260.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Got One. Have one that has intermittent issues with charging - it's pretty old. Bose quoted us $80 for the repair. This will be great as a back up.

  • I was given the SoundLink number one many years ago and it hasn't died, I do like the dock feature which doesn't seem to be on the newer models

  • +1

My Soundlink Mini II has taken a beating and is still going strong, great speak for the price.

One weird issue, it adds a bit of latency when you use the aux cable in the back so you can't use it as a portable guitar amp or DJ speaker.

  • I have the original Mini and its fantastic. Bought this one to add to my speakers.

  • I love the soundlink mini - I've had the V1 for years (though I'll be damned if I can locate it at the moment) and it punches so far above its weight. I'll never forget a moment partying with friends when I'd been playing music for hours and then it finally died and we swapped over to someone elses UE boom - the difference in sound and general mood to the music was so stark. For $150 this is a no brainer as I don't even think these are still made.

    • Similar thing here but to the opposite. Someone else had a similar size speaker which I was convinced while a pile of rubbish. The battery ran out so I connected my Bose and it blew people away the sound quality difference. 5 minutes later people were up and dancing as the sound was no longer background but in the room per se.

  • +1

I love the sound/size and build of this speaker.
Unfortunately I've had to send it back twice now for battery issues.
I do hand it to Bose, each time they are great, get it back to me quick and extend my warranty a year each time!

Under warranty, I love this speaker, and I have a lot of BT speakers. The sound is balanced in a way I really appreciate, similar sound to how the Airpod pros have a very nice balanced sound. Recommended and well worth $150.

    • We had one of these in each room of the hotel I worked at. After 2 years almost every single one of them had died with the known battery problem.

  • black is sold out

    • silver too!

    • Back to stock now I think, but the price showing is $199.95

  • Had a chance to buy but sat on it.. goddamn.

  • I got the first gen for years, still going strong and loving the sound of it.

And just bought this one as well, not sure why but why not, lol, bloody Ozbargain!!

    Thank you OP

  • Triple Black is in stock.

  • +1

Looks like it's magically back in stock with a higher price tag ($199.95)

    • +3

Dirty dogs. Feels like a bose move.

  • I must have bought the last one :)

  • +7

had a think, and now have saved $149.95

    • Same here - and $199.95 in this refreshed state

  • It's pretty good, I used it as regular computer speaker to save desk space, and no wires.

  • +2

In stock but price increased to $199

    • It is different model

  • -5

    Bought at $106

  • Has anyone recieved theirs yet? The website seems to promote next delivery but no dispatch email?

    • Has anyone still not received their speaker or dispatch email yet?

      • Got it the next day, awesome speaker

  • thanks.

  • On board for delivery today to Melb

  • Same here for Adelaide. It should be arriving in a few minutes.

  • Arrived this morning in Melb :-)

  • It arrived with the lastest firmware (2020) - I bought the triple black model. It is stylish, and the sound is terrific. I have tried using the cradle from the Soundlink Mini I. While the speaker sits nicely in the cradle, it does not seem to charge, even though the pins look strikingly similar. Only thing left to do is pack up the Soundlink Mini I and travel the 35 kms to it's new home at my mother's house. It will be attached through an aux cable, I notice some new speakers do not have this option, but this should save me a few phone calls at 0600 hrs telling the speaker is not working 😁.

I hope all those who bought this deal have a many years of great sound.

  • Good product new one is even better than the 1.
