10% OFF Apple Computers @ The Good Guys (Further Discount Possible)

100

10% off Mac at the Good Guys. Best deal around thus far, better than Apple's B2S offer of $100 app store credit.

If I'm correct, if you pay cash at the Good Guys, you'll pay less so there is definitely potential for further discounts.

There's always a 10% off apple products somewhere. They never go lower than that for some stupid reason…

    • Because they can and people will still buy Apple products :)

    • its due to the limited margin in the apple products

    • That "stupid reason" is otherwise known as cost price you looney, since a 10% margin exists on Apple products for Apple resellers.

      Geez,

I didn't even comment on any particular apple product and someone still gave me a negative vote.

If their prices were more within my reach, I might actually try one. Consider that before you start burning me at the stake.

I know right…. stupid Ferrari and their limited discount..
if their prices were more within my reach, I might actually try one..

your ability to afford or not afford their product is kind of irrelevant

Im a Mac user and fan, but couldn't agree more. Have you read about the billions in profits announced last week by Apple. Their product is good and innovative, but not THAT good. Still, I believe that once you go Mac you'll never go back!

I went Mac and I went back. That being said, I have 4 PCs and 2 Macs (desktops and laptops).

      re:last statement…

depends on your usage. General usage -> Macs (smooth UI etc.) Gaming -> PC (open system allowing you to have power but within price).

Happily use both PC and Mac here — self-built PC at home, a MacBook Pro, and a 27" iMac at the office. And I use both iOS and Android too. :)

      • I should say I use parallels to run WinXP and or Vista on my macmni at home (not on my MacBookPro), mainly to transfer my Windows only Sony Mini-DVD handycam footage. ozAzn agree with you too. aboyfromhell, you didn't really 'go back' then, you are now 'bi-OS'.

        • used to own a imac in 2009, but my PC is usually a server, irc and a web browser…
therefore prefered windows 7, cos MAC server is overpriced.

  • 'Further discount possible' should be removed from the title unless you know this or have verified this for a fact.

As others have said yes 10% is essentially the margin… or essentially the margin stores have agreed not to go under or undercut each other with. MOST apple computers have a 10%ish margin but same have a greater margin (not by much but a good chunk more when purchasing higher end models)… but as a customer you will never know which model or custom build has the highest profit margin.

There is also a type of apple computer that actually should if my calculations are correct go a tad bellow cost with the 10% off.

Little of topic but just a little info from someone that deals with a crap load of apple on a daily basis.

Nothing special when Dick smith and JB have these every second week.

We bought a fridge from the Good Guys Prospect, with 15% off for their Australia Day sale, they would not give any further discount for cash in addition to the 15% off. I know not exactly relevant to apple but possibly the same rule applies

The few times I've gotten quotes from Good Guys, the "pay less for cash" discount has been laughable (0.1-0.5%) and not worth bothering about because of the rewards and insurance and extended warranty benefits I get from my credit card. Even if they do offer a discount for cash here, I doubt it'll be much at all.

  • They usually offer $1 less for cash on stuff where they don't want to go lower

  • come on guys wake up and smell the marketing campaign, it is no longer cheaper to take cash but rather the opposite.

So much work goes into physically receiving cash, counting it, storing it and then getting it off to a bank let alone the risk of employees stealing and not to mention the man hours wasted dealing with it all.

Yes there is the fee the store must bare for allowing the use of cards but this is nearly nothing in the grand scheme of things. I know I hate like many other sales people to receive a big bundle of cash that I then cant leave in the register (because of limit) and have to get cleared.

  • Tempting, but aren't the next batch of MBP and MBA around the corner?

  • if only $1 cheaper, then should use credit card and earn reward points.
And price match at somewhere with rebate, like myer. or somewhere with lucky draw, like WOW.
    any other thoughts?
