          • @fookos: yeah I'm still not 100% decided on whether to get this one or a Lelit Elizabeth V3 which has similar feature.
The Lelit though cost almost 3 times the price! Even if the Breville lasts only 5 years I can still buy 2 more for the difference!

That's a shame Italian machine costs that much here in Australia, the lelit is only around $1000 euro in Europe.

            • @ValouSydney: If you're reasonably new to home espresso and you're considering those two machinges you probably can't go past the Breville as a solid learning machine, rather than straight to the investment of a Lelit Elizabeth. Leave yourself some fun for later!

I have had one of these for 6 years or so now and it has been used every day.

    What I like about it:
it does what you expect, each time. Stable temperatures on steam and brew, good steam for milk texture.
It has a timer feature so it switches itself on 10 minutes before my usual waking time, so it is ready to go when I get to the kitchen.
You can adjust many aspects to experiment with- pre-infusion duration, brew temperature, steam temperature, shot duration by time or volume (and even the brew pressure on the fly by tweaking the water control during slightly the shot)
Good sized water tank, you can fill from the front and see the level easily.
Good sized drip tray does not fill as quickly as the thermoblock machines.

I fill it with filtered water, change the filters regularly, get it checked every few years.

Note it needs maintenance as others recommend, the extended warranty makes sense.

I have put it in for service/checkup just before the 2y warranty expired, then every 18 months or so.
The regular service gets descaled, seals replaced (I cant remember the cost of this around $100-150 I think).
Repairs I had to pay for were the steam valve replacement, steam boiler temperature sensor both @4 years, then repairs I have done myself Ulka brew pump ($35), steam boiler safety valve ($20-30).
Bought o-rings from Aliexpress but havent used them yet - need to find food grade lubricant to go with them.

I am tempted to get one of these but the current one is still going amazing, so maybe will look at a new grinder first.
