I’m on this plan. Data share with a $15 sim and I’m happier than a pig in poop

  • Is it 500GB per month?

    • +1

Yup… and you can share it with the devices on the same account

      • Thanks. That's such a great deal for $65 per month!!! No international calls included though.

        • +2

International calls are included. Check the plan through OP's link.

        • includes 10gb of roaming ! (Zone 1 destinations)

Can this be used as home broadband? Need a 5G modern though, they are not that cheap too.

    • +1

For $75 you can get unlimited 5G and a Nokia modem. 24 month commitment however.

    • You can use any Optus 4g WiFi modem … I used on the Huawei b315 and the E5577 before… no issue

    • +1

You may have issues using it in a modem as in the past I have received a message saying this is part of the terms and conditions not to.

    • Optus 4G modem here for $20

Edit: Or stick simcard in a spare 4G mobile and wifi Hotspot it πŸ‘πŸ˜

What speeds are people getting too

    • +1

This is shared with other devices, so I would imagine the speed is depending on the 4g/5G devices or hotspot speed wouldn’t it !? Also probably depending if you got 4g or 5G connection.

      • Yes depends were your home is located from an Optus tower, my area is crappy I can get about 25Mbps which actually is fine as easily gone through my 105gb plan easily

Edit: install and app in your mobile phone called "Aus Phone Towers" shows all your surrounding 4G/5G towers for the 3 telcos, Telstra, Optus and Vodafone

  • Can you cancel anytime without any cost? I was thinking to use it during eurocup.

    • Yes… but I think might charge you for 1st month!

  • So you can cancel anytime and after the 12 months?

I am on the telstra 400gb for $75 with no lock in but this seems better ?

    • You can cancel anytime but if you stay after the 12 months special, then the cost is reversed back to the $119 price per month

  • is there any speed cap on this plan?
the home broadband $75 offering is capped at 100mbps.

    • No, it's not a broadband plan.

  • I could never go Optus again.

The day after I signed up with them, my phone went nuts with people trying to sell me a website, or solar crap.

Coincidence that they copped a record fine for spamming their customers ??

    • Interestingly I had the exact same experience going from Optus to Telstra πŸ˜‚

      • Probably people who got your number whilst you were with Optus πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

        • πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    • I found the same thing going from Boost to this Optus plan. Loads of automated calls with foreign based US accents - spam marketing rubbish. I suspect either Optus sell details on to third parties overseas, or just don't have as good filtering as Telstra. Truecaller filtering app weeds some out.

      • πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

  • Anyone know if you can also get a further discount if adding this as a second service?

    • yes, currently 25% off.

      • Don’t think you can get 25% off on this particular plan, however YMMV!

        • No you can't I have tried, Optus reason being it is already heavily discounted plan,.. but saying that no harm trying as you might find an Optus agent who has know idea what there doing has happened too me few times with Telstra online agents got extras for near nothing πŸ‘πŸ˜

According to coverage map, the 5g is mainly outdoors?

I am guessing they say that cause the still want to buy their nbn and not go wholly 5G, I mean really how they going to know you outdoors on a 5G signal?

    • 5G is still in its early days best speeds youll get of course if your close too the 4G/5G towers, the maps are just a guide only way truly your gonna test 5G speeds is commit to one month plan and test out how good the 5G signal is at your place by trying it on a cheaper plan first for one month, saying that I dont have 5g at my place 4g speeds isn't the best at 25Mbps but plenty enough speed, drove 10 minutes down the road from my place next too a 5G Optus tower and achieved the highest speed I've ever done at over 800Mbps on a mobile phone

Also Optus has the fastest average 5G speeds in Melbourne over Vodafone and Telstra though Telstra has more coverage then Optus at this stage, i don't think there too far apart either

Note: 4g can be just as fast achieving over 200Mbps, again all depends on your location too the towers and some towers also have more bandwidth then others, install an app in your mobile called "Aus Phone Towers" tells you everything about the nearest 4g/5g towers in your area

Signed up for this about 1 month ago, amazing deal. Im getting real good 5G signal.

  • Can anyone recommend a standalone 5G wifi device I can buy outright?
    Do they even exist yet?

  • for the same price, this deal includes unlimited calls and 5G data as well

    $48.75 for 200 GB
    $65 for 500 GB

    • So does this Optus $65 mobile plan with 500gb data posted here includes unlimited calls/smses and Unlimited standard International Talk & Text From Australia to 35 selected destinations, PLUS,… OPTUS SPORT + OS FITNESS if your into that πŸ‘πŸ˜

      • this is their top plan… so yes.
also included Roaming data for use while overseas in Zone 1 destinations (subject to change) 10GB …if you ever get out.

  • Could you get it as an eSim?

    • +1

      Got it. As eSim
