China - Dongguan factory
Established in 1996 as a joint venture with Melitta, the Dongguan plant has been fully owned by the Miele Group since 2009. Currently Miele produces the Swing H1, Compact C1, Compact C2 and Complete C2 vacuum cleaners here. This includes, for example, the production of plastic components through in-house injection moulding as well as assembly. As with vacuum cleaners from the Bielefeld factory, all motors come from Miele in Euskirchen. Approx. 330 employees manufacture about 500,000 vacuum cleaners per year at the Dongguan factory.

I’ll picked up one of these last year to replace an older C3 that had finally died. The thing I hate the most about it is that there are only two lengths it can be extended to by taking out a piece of the wand. The C3 can be adjusted to various lengths. The full extension of the compact C1 is a little too short for my most comfortable vacuuming position. The attachments have this crap clip on wand holder for them instead of an integrated compartment like the C3. So they will probably get lost at some point.
However we bought it primarily for vacuuming the cars as our new place doesn’t have any carpet (awesomeness) and its small, compact, loads of suction and includes enough attachments for this purpose. The bag does fill quickly and they aren’t that cheap to replace. Would not recommend for a large home with pets or lots of carpet, but does the job for us perfectly.
