  • I assume this would be a big upgrade to my Belong 4353 modem router?
Currently struggling with range to my main PC

    • It is better to buy this.

      • +1

you reckon? The Tenda's seem so cheap compared to other brands. Do they actually work well? Are the TP Link M5's notably better?

        • TP Link doesn't update their product's firmware long enough. Check about it online.

          • @Geekomatic: TP-Link Deco M5 still gets updated even though it was released in 2017.

            • +2

@Twix: I'd hope lots longer, actually. Firmware updates should be 5 years min imho, on pricey hardware.

        • I have been using them for a year and I am satisfied with the results.

        • Deco M5 comes with a beefier CPU & more RAM to handle more connected devices at one time, Gigabit ports & has more powerful wifi radios. Who is your ISP?

          Deco M5
          1000 Mbps WAN & LAN.
          Quad-core processor @ 638MHz.
          256MB of RAM.
Dual band AC1300 with 4 antennas on each node.
          VLAN 802.1Q support.

          Nova MW3
          100 Mbps WAN & LAN.
          Single-core processor @ 600MHz.
          64MB of RAM.
Dual band AC1200 with 2 antennas on each node.
          No VLAN 802.1Q support.

        • Take a look at some of the threads on Ozbargain about Tenda products before buying anything from them.

      • Hi mate can I use ad modem router…at my home I have fixed to nod …telephone cable ?
        Thanks

  • Can I use this for my NBN connection? Will this ASUS be better compare to my Archer VR1600v?

    • +1

Yes you can use it for NBN VDSL connections. I don't think you'll notice much difference with your current unit.

      • Ok. Thanks.
I have question, I tried to block my oppo mac address phone but somehow the phone still can access internet as normal. Any idea?
It works when I am blocking other device like samsung phone or laptop.

        • No clue, sorry.

  • I have a support-dropped TP-Link which never got a firmware update released for. Is this model also out of support, as well?

    • It had a firmware update ready to install when logging in at http://router.asus.com

All functions seem to work normally.

  • So this is good for people on NBN FTTN?

    • If your NBN is run over VDSL out of your wall and you live in a small apartment then yes.

If you live in a large house and want stronger WiFi coverage then at least triple the budget.
