    Headphone Amp
    Supported Headphone Impedance: 32–600Ω
    Low Gain: 32–149Ω (1.2V RMS @ 32Ω, 1.5V RMS @ 150Ω)
    High Gain: 150–600Ω (2.3V RMS @ 150Ω, 2.9V RMS @ 600Ω)

That's not terrible…. would be a good buy for anyone with Senn. HD600 or HD58X

    • I got a HD58X and this works really well, atleast for me it does.

  • How satisfying is the dial?

Apparently loose and a little plasticy.

gah, what a shame. thanks for the info.

    • It is made from plastic, but gives fairly fine adjustments (you feel a slight bump each time you turn). Definitely not horrendous, but could be more 'satisfying'.

I don't have the same loose issue as mentioned in a reply.

  • tempted. I've always wanted to try out their super x-fi products. I wonder how good the theatre headphones are.

On a side note, I think its time for an anniversary edition of the Creative Vision:M

      I was too; but I decided long ago to go with one of these;

      Very glad I did.

That's a standalone amp and would still require the purchase of a separate DAC (one with a 3.5mm aux output or RCA to 3.5mm cable from your DAC), otherwise you will just be amplifying the audio signal from an existing soundcard, which is likely to be of low quality.

I've never heard the X3, but on paper it seems like a good value proposition for a desktop if you only have $160 to spend. Even a good budget DAC/AMP stack from SMSL, Topping or Schiit wouldn't give you change from $200 these days.

        • Very true; more people are in need of a headphone amp than a DAC these days though.
Assuming we're talking compressed audio commonly found in games, and from (most) music people store on their PC's; the calming-down of the electronic wasps in the top end, that a little tube can bring to a set of headphones is game changing alone.

You're absolutely right though; it's an amp only.

      • These are great

Bought about a year and half ago for a very similar price (if not the exact same). Might be useful to add that it is my first desktop external amp.

Quite nifty since I switch between speakers and headphones quite frequently - and can also adjust my microphone from it aswell. Software is decent too, nothing too crazy.

Overall, does it's job well and there have been no serious complaints so far. Can't comment on the price, since I honestly don't have too much knowledge about similar products in the market.

  • G6 is also on sale which may be better for gaming

  • I bought this a year ago, there was definitely noticeable difference in audio quality of my headphones and microphones when testing. The dial aint that satisfying but for this price its OK for build quality. Tested with Sennheiser IE 80 and Sennheiser PC 350.
