        Lmao. Nice

    • Your mum here, I said no more than $200 total spend

      • But you said If I stay in the basement I could have $499…

    • +9

Um , does the DDR3 ram work with the 10105F?

      • -2

        Ummn.. probably not…
But hey I just read your retro specs sheet…

        • Retro spec sheet that actually works.
If you're going to offer an alternative please at least make sure it's a viable option.

          • @DeToxin: ddr3 was obviously meant to be ddr4..

Why is it nor a viable option?

            • @randomusername2017: No motherboard, all prices are just plucked out of thin air.

              • @DeToxin: I3 retails around $110.. quite often available in bundles for around $200
Rest of the "refurbished" pricing is readily available on gumtree, FB marketplace and eBay on occasion

    • +2

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure there's something that those parts are all meant to be plug into, some kind of board, like the mother of all boards in the computer…

    • -3

Your prices are BS. Find me 16Gb of DDR3 for $50, for example.

    • Yeh good luck

  • A nice budget option in this current climate. The 500 GB HDD for $20 is an easy add on choice here too imo

  • +1

gpu is a refurb so could have been used for mining

    • +1

Nah they weren't used for mining, can guarantee.

      • Really good price for this build then

    • +4

3GB hasn't been enough for Etherium for a good while.

  • DDR3??

    • +1

Well that's what the motherboard takes, so …yes?

I agree with some above that it's not that bad. Especially considering they have a warranty attached and is cheaper than most Facebook builds for same specs.

I'd personally never buy it, but it's good for a first PC in this shithole tech climate.

      • -1

they've done way better new basic PCs at that price

        • +4

Sure if you completely ignore the current market, which they can't do because they're y'know..a business.

  • +1

In the current situation, an i7-4790 on it's own can auction for $98 + postage on ebay. (source: my observation tonight and Friday night). Not to mention an i7-4790K for $234 or so a couple of days ago.
    8 GB DDR3 RAM for $45???!!!
Sh*t motherboard for $85 or more???!!!
    GPUs are eye-watering prices now.
This stuff is 6+ years old and these are actual auction results, I dropped out way before these prices. Can't be that much crypto mining going on in Australia, surely.
Guess it's part of the current asset bubble, including old PC parts. Makes this deal look good.

  • +1

GPU prices are so expensive. Glad I got in before the hike.
Managed to get my PC set up under $450. Got an i5 6600 SFF for $200 new. Bought a 1650 LP for $230 new and another new 8gb DDR4 ram for $16. Manages to beat this PC in value.

  • Wonder where the refurbished parts are sourced…

    • +4

no actually! , and unfortunately no-ones throwing away GPUs.

  • +1

Specs alright for PCVR gaming streamed to Oculus Quest 2?

    • +1

Might struggle for higher end VR games. Reason for that is because for VR you really need that rock solid steady fps. Any FPS variation makes people sick very quickly.

      • +1

        Also pretty demanding resolution of 1832 x 1920 x 2 eyes.

    • I wouldn't, I think. It WOULD actually be OK for most PC VR games, but…

It wouldn't be able to max settings in the more demanding ones, the framerate needs to be very high for the sense of presence (75 - 90 FPS minimum, especially if you are sensitive to the nausea), and these older CPUs are prone to microstutter. If you decide you need a new CPU and GPU to play the games you want, you've wasted almost the whole $500.

  • Not a IT pro, feel this is a good deal, all I need is connect to monitor then I can play WoW if I understand right.

    • Might….need a keyboard and mouse. Some audio gear would make the immersion better but not required. Oh, an a internet connection + an active WoW subscription but then! Then you're good to go. /s

Haha, yeah this PC would be plenty to run WoW. If you install a crapton of addons tho, it could potentially start chugging.

      • Aha, thanks for reminder all of these~

  • +2

We also have the Same variant Gaming PC but with a GTX strix 970 4gb , Intel Core i5-4460 CPU, 16GB DDR3 RAM, 120GB SSD $499 + Delivery @ FuzeTechAu

  • If covid restrictions are lifted this week could we pick up if your in Yarraville as I work in Altona North?

    • sure can! best order online as there is backorder but should be good to go!

  • +1

This is a great price. I recently built something similar - i5 4570, 16Gb DDR3, GTX 1060 3Gb, SSD, mystery Chinese 1150 mainboard from Aliexpress and it is surprisingly gutsy with everything we throw at it. X-Plane, FS, Assetto Corsa, Forza etc. all at great frame rates (50+) at 2K with settings wound up satisfyingly. Very impressed!

    • X-Plane is awesome, runs great on my 15" MacBook Pro and my PC with GTX 760 4Gb.

  • Any chance we can do afterpay?

  • +1

    How much better would this be at running Arma 3 than a i5 6600K, 16GB DDR4 and a RX580?

    • +10

It would be worse. Can't tell if serious question or trolling.

      • +1

Unfortunately was a serious question - did my own research and realised my old PC ain't as bad/slow as I thought, and indeed better than this one advertised!

        • Nice mate! Your PC isn't a beast but does the job!

          • +1

@Dvbargain: indeed - I've learnt to be thrifty by putting up with playing old games like Arma 3. Makes it easier when you start on an Amstrad CPC464 ;)

  • Any chance we can see fps rates on some common current games?

  • +2

Hey OP, did you load up on cases from this deal for these builds? Just curious.

    • +1

how is it relevant on where/how the OP purchased the case? I hope they did, as it was a good buy!

      • I was wondering if he sourced them from that deal, hence the "just curious". But yeah that would've been a good deal to stock up from for these builds. Anyway, seems that OP doesn't want to say.

  • IT gurus, what's the better option?

    The GTX strix 970 4gb or GTX 1060 3GB.

I've had a look around on Google and it seems the 1060 has the edge?

    • +7

970 only has 3.5gb of reliable vram, so not much difference there. A 3gb of vram is not ideal for gaming in 2021, but if the use case is primarily 1080p esports titles it should do the trick. I'd recommend the 1060 over the 970.

      • +1

        Thank you 👍🙂

  • +2

Sad to see the desperation here. Imagine this deal being posted 2 years ago.

  • +2

Out of interest what is the process of your refurb for each product? Or should it just say second hand?
If I bought a 1060 GTX machine and it was DOA do you have stock to replace it or would you be trying to give me a 970 instead?

I buy and sell PC parts all the time but I would just call the parts second hand, to me refurb implies vigorous testing by the manufacturer or approved partner
CPU visually check pads (I only ever really deal with intel), put into a known working mobo and make sure all RAM channels are working and usually stress test to make sure clocks are as expected
GPU I just clean, sometimes replace thermal paste and then stress test for 30 mins and make sure it doesn't crash
Motherboard very hard to verify if everything is working properly, too much to check, usually just boot to BIOS with known working CPU and update BIOS, make sure all RAM slots and PCI slots work.
RAM, pretty much indestructible, just make sure a PC boots with it installed correctly

  • Besides playing games, would this be able do any mining at a profit (doesn’t have to be ETH) ? Assuming electricity cost is normal rate at approx 25c kw/h ?

    • +1

No, any way you can't mine ETH on 3 GB, may be not even with 4 GB now

      • +1

There is other alt coins…who can say whether mining them will be profitable as we can't quite predict their ups and downs!

        • Cheers, would be new to it and find the concept interesting to offset some cost

  • like my pc, I game and work on a i5-2400, 16GB, GTX1060 3GB. I got the GPU delivered for $140 in late 2019. $100 for Silverstone SFX PSU and $105 for base ACER S6610 PC with Win10 activated. I can game well at 1080p. Recently got game pass for $1 for 3 months and will try some new games.

  • ahhhhhhhhh……. come here for the bargains… stay for the arguments :)

  • Will this hold a full sized 6700 XT?

    • Should do. In the specs for the case: "Supports high-end graphics cards with a length of up to 355mm/14inch"

  • This is a great deal, tempted to get one for a media room gaming PC.

  • I'm surprised PC stores still post on here, EVERYtime theres a deal posted ends up theres more pissing and moaning than people interested in them

FWIW, I think its a pretty decent deal.. Good on ya for upping it.

    • surprised PC stores still post on here

      Free advertising…

      • Would be good without 80 neg posts… For those that arent tech savvy they'd turn away

  • any refurb build for around $1000 mark?

  • An xbx series S may pack more punch for less.

  • +1

Is this easy to upgrade later to a high end GPU?

    • Easy to upgrade
But you might want to upgrade the psu, CPU, ram and board at the same time.Depends on your definition of "high end gpu".

    • Would make more sense to spend a bit extra now, instead of buying old parts to begin with..

  • @fusetechau is the $499 model still available? Says sold out.
