  • From now on, apparently - it's been released as freeware: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_&_Conquer:_Red_Alert. This is now an 11 year old game, though, so it's probably mainly of interest if you've never played it. It was groundbreaking for its time, but 1996 is a long time ago!

    • How old a game is doesnt really matter…Ill mention 2 words…Starcraft, South Korea.

      • Those are three words…

        • lol that was what I was going to say =P

  • Wow, I have vague memories of playing this about that 11 years ago O_O

  • From the linked page:

This software contains support for Windows XP/98/Me/95 with installation instructions. This software is not supported by Windows Vista, however there are community driven strategies and tips available for making the software function on Vista which you can find on our various fan-sites.

Here are the instructions when I googled "Red Alert Vista".

  • I have strong recollections of playing this back in the day, ran like a charm on my Pentium 1 133Mhz, with 8MB Ram (or was it 16mb?), had a Sound blaster sound card as well ;)

  • If only it supports TCP/IP and I would still be playing it today! IPX only and although its possible to get working across the internet via tunnelling, it's just a bit painful.

  • oh boy, the memories! between this and GTA and a few other old games that are now free, it makes you wonder why people are still paying for pacman!

  • Anyone actual got this running on vista? I can't get it to run.
