It is actually $11 cheaper at Camera Warehouse but I couldn't be bothered posting it.

This is probably the best price this lens has been, and if wildlife or sports photography is your thing, this lens is great. Sony kiosks will price match the before cashback price.

Curious as to how this would stand up with video work. I have previously researched long-range zoom lenses for video (sports, wildlife, etc) and it would appear this is as good as you can get at the price range. Has anyone used this for video?

also slightly cheaper at George's: www.georges.com.au/sony-fe-200-600mm-f-5-6-6-3-g-oss-lens.ht…

    • Yes , I have used it many times for wildlife videos, and it is fantastic. Very well balanced, the focus doesn’t hunt much and the colours are lovely.

  • This is probably the best price this lens has been

Not quite. I paid just over $2100 for mine, before cashback.

It is only good on Sunny days which are rare now in Melbourne. I would like to sell mine and get the 100400GM

    • I hate to be the one to break it to you, but you are only getting 2/3 of a stop at 100mm and 1/3 at the long end and losing 200mm of length in the deal.

Melbourne's weather isn't your problem mate.

AF is way faster and even at 400mm it is sharper than the 600mm. Watch comparisons on YouTube. Higher quality glass and better motors.
        GM is GM.

That may be the case, but you complained about light.
As for the sharpness comparisons. I have seen them all. There is nothing in it

          • @Flyerone: On a sunny day I am not usually complaining
