LG C1 55" 4K OLED TV $2399 + Delivery ($0 to Selected Areas) @ Appliance Central

First post so hope it's a good one.

Good price on the LG C1 (potentially the lowest at the moment). Great for those with the next gen consoles and PC's who want an OLED that has VRR and supports 120hz natively.

I'm liking the prices on these 2021 55's.

Hopefully this means a 65 for me in December.

    • They also have the 65 for $3510 at the moment.

      • That model is sold out.

        • +1

I see now, it was available at the time of posting

  • Tempting price… is OLED a no-go for using as a monitor?

    • +2

I don't own an OLED screen myself but from what I have read, as long as you don't run full brightness all the time and leave static images on the screen for hours upon hours on end you should be fine. I'm sure there are others who own older oleds who can chip in with their experience.

      • Would also be curious to hear a response to this.

        • I bought a OLED55C7T a few years ago. I got bad burn in from some PS4 games. I don't see it when watching movies, but if I see a bright red screen, you can see ghosted burnt in images in a few spots.

I own the LG BX. Given that the LG C1 is a fair bit brighter than the BX, the C1 would be comparable to a computer monitor at half brightness. I haven't had any burn-in and I periodically use it as a third monitor.

But I would personally only use a 55" 'monitor' with a deep desk. Doing a quick test with my 55", I feel a viewing distance of at least 800mm is required, with longer distances around 1200mm being ideal. There is a 48" variant of this monitor which could alleviate this.

Thanks for the info in regards to viewing distances. I was considering splitting the panel into two ultrawide screens for pc use (game at the bottom and other stuff above), but haven't found a lot of information about it.

@MrChadley: While I love my LG bx, I think it might be a bit of a pain to use it the way you suggest.
Full screen games get exclusive control of your display adaptor, so your other windows will be hidden. Borderless windowed is a work around but comes with its own swathe of problems - namely significant performance hits. If the C1 has picture in picture, you could partition the displays that way and get full screen performance.

@ummobr: I wouldn't be playing everything like that but I do understand the issues that can arise from it. It'll have to be my little project to figure out if I get one. Thanks for the feedback.

        • +1

Thanks, after some quick measurements I think you're right. I'll probably hold out for a deal on a 43-48 LCD…

Although it seems all the nice models for gaming (120hz, VRR) start at 55"… bit of a pain.

    • LG CX55 user here. Currently sitting at 2150 hours of screen-on time without any visible signs of Burn in; however this may be due to my extensive use of dark mode / dark reader. Fantastic option as a gaming tv / monitor provided you have the hardware to support it. 4k 120hz will NOT WORK on anything below HDMI 2.1. Using BFI + a custom res of 3840x1080 is the easiest way to convert this into a perfect ultra wide monitor for fps games. Don't use this for HDR grading content on anything except a mac; HDR implementation on windows is ass and not representative in most applications except for chrome/games/mpc-hc

  • Any leftovfer CX stock please?

    • +1

Yes they have CX 55 and 65 in stock still.

  • +2

If it's this price after a few weeks then it's promising for a price closer towards $2000 by the end of the year.

does anyone know when the new evo panels are coming to the pleb B/C range?

    • +1

Unlikely, LG need something to differentiate their premium offering from the bottom of the barrel.

  • +2

I looked at this today in JB. It (and the other OLED models there) all looked clearly better than all the rest. Samsung's QLED options seemed the closest in image quality, but they're barely cheaper :(

    • +1

how did the SONY X9500H compare to these? (if you noticed) Was thinking of getting one of these when there are good sales on for them. (I know they are only LED)

      • Yeah the Sony 9500 models seemed close too, I think I liked Samsung's slightly more but I noticed both were good.

All just my subjective opinions and it's a little hard to compare when they all run different demo loops, but there were overall noticeable differences.

        • i have the same opinion as you. QLEDs are close, and brighter, but are almost the same price anyway

  • I got the B7 a while back for only $1600 was wondering what's the advantage of the C1,
I imagine theres a bit more brightness and improved picture quality.

  • If I had known how good a deal the B7 was I would have bought 2.
feels like OLED prices have been going up instead of down.

    • yeah funny isn't it. I can't remember how low they ended up getting, but I think mine was around 1800? must have been in a spot where they were churning out a bunch but they were still relatively new and demand wasn't high yet?

looking at all these new ones, struggle to justify getting a new one for 2k. the only thing worth the money would be the new evo panels, but those start at 3k.

  • Anyone have any experience with Appliances Central when it comes to warranty, returns, refunds, or general product issue and support?

    • ^^^ what he/she said!

looking at the price of the Samsung Q80A via this website is significantly cheaper than anywhere else… can anyone from the Ozbargain brainstrust verfiy?

I walked into JB Hifi Castle Hill (NSW) just this morning, and got them to price match, throw in free delivery and give me extended warranty (yeah I know about ACL etc etc, however JB-Hifi also give another year warranty after the manufacturers warranty before the 3 years extended warranty kicks in, so a total of 5 years) for $2587.30. Otherwise he was willing to also price match on $2399 with free delivery as well. I trust JB a bit more than these guys who I've NEVER dealt with.

    • FYI I was able to price match this deal at Good Guys and pick up same day.

  • +2

For all the players out there, I just called good guys and said "match the 15% off from last night on the 55" and ill buy it now". They processed it and I have the order to pay and pickup for $2205 :)

Gonna get a couple of gift cards now to get another little bit off the top. Are shopback goodguys gift cards physical and must be posted out?

    • Very nice!

      • +1

Paid for with macquarie gift cards. Comes to $2138 out of pocket

  • Currently $2205.75 for the 55 C1 at JB/GG using the First Responders discount. Anyone have opinions on whether the extended warranty is worth it? Better off just utilising ACL if something happens?

    • Can I still get that discount if I am not a first responder?

  • +2

Just got JB Hi-Fi to beat this price over the phone - down to $2295

    • Any chance you could please send me your receipt so I can try to price adjust with JB? Purchased few days ago at $2500 including 5yr warranty but this is a better deal even if they refuse to give me warranty for $100 still (will just rely on ACCC in that case). Cheers!

    • How did you do it?

  • Price gone up, now $2480 >:(

    • Updated, cheers
