This is a good price for a decent sized mortar and pestle, which does not need to be branded as long as it is granite. Mortar and pestles very useful to crush and grind up aromatics and spices and the effect is a bit different from using a food processor which tends to chop rather than grind.
They last a life time, but are quite heavy - around 3kgs. Not recommended for those who have wrist injuries!

This size is around this price (post included) all the time at Kmart butthey don't have the nifty little handles that this one has. Buying two sees the post cost stay the same though, so a good buy.

The baton is the pestle (to pestle, is to crush/grind), and the mortar is the bowl.
Don't put in dishwasher, or use detergent to clean, as the stone will retain some detergent and this will flavour your food.

I swear I have seen it for $9 in reject shop. Got it for a Kris Kringle gift last year. Boy was the receiver happy before opening it (as it was darn heavy).
