Wow, $10 worth of points in return for spending $1000… Pretty pathetic deal for such an expensive product with traditionally high margins.
We got burned by these guys during Covid. They did everything they could to keep our money. Their current booking conditions state:
If a trip is cancelled due to a Force Majeure Event, we can offer you a choice of:
(a) a 110% credit of monies paid for your trip; or
(b) a refund minus unrecoverable costs.…but they'll never itemise these 'unrecoverable costs'. Instead, they'll throw a blanket percentage at you anywhere between 10% and 30%, even if THEY cancel the trip MONTHS before it's due to depart!
They changed these booking conditions during covid to include 'Force Majeure Events' and then tried to retroactively apply them (which the ACCC should have taken them to town for!)
This company caused us plenty of undue stress, when we should have been off enjoying the holiday of a lifetime. In the end, we agreed to forfeit our deposit in lieu of them failing to provide a list of itemised costs…but I think that's exactly what they were counting on.
Thanks for bringing this to attention. Will avoid this company from now on.
I will avoid them as well, and share this with friends currently considering them for a trip. Itemising these costs seems like a very reasonable request to me.
