Thanks OP I have had this in my wishlist for ages , even $147 was a good buy considering how much it costs here.

    • Same here. Debating whether to get the Ozito orbital sander + detail sander for around the same price.

      • +1

I got the ozito orbital sander about a month ago, used it once to try out , it works great but then I can't miss this deal, so bought this too. It'll look great in my garage

        • I got the Dewalt and took my Ozito back today.

Guy at Bunnings said it was the 2nd one returned today, said they must have got a bad batch of them.

      • Did you end up buying it ?

    • Any idea if our DeWalt 18V battery will work with this unit, please?

      Thanks

      • According to previous comments in other deals it works perfectly and I'm counting on that too. Or else Amazon would happily return it

      • yes

In Oz, we have the 18v and 54v flexvolt, in the US it’s exactly the same but they stamp them 20v and 60v.

      • 100% it works. I have the 20V sticker version of this sander.

      • Yes, it works. I got one.

      • Yes

      • The 20v claim is just marketing, it's an 18v tool.

      • Yep. I bought this from a previous deal and use it with an 18v battery bought in Australia. Never had any issues.

        • also works with the 54v batteries but its definitely better balanced with an 18v

      • I have one of the Dewalt 20v torches bought from Amazon US. I can confirm the 18v batteries work. (as do the flexvolt 18v/54v batteries)

  • Nice find

    https://www.amazon.com.au/DEWALT-DCS367B-Brushless-Compact-R…

DEWALT DCS367B 20V Max XR Brushless Compact Reciprocating Saw, (Tool Only),
    $219.22 - after discount $183.22

    • I have the 54V recip….. Unstoppable! You've gotta use the power wisely though!

Seems I've stumbledld across the DeWalt fan club!

      • Fan club President signing in…. I won’t show my garage for fear of inducing jealousy :)

  • That's a bloody good price too

  • Wish the Festool sanders would go on special.

    • +2

Wish the Festool anything would go on special…

      • They have stuff on sale every quarter. Their EOFY promotion is on now. It's never much of a discount though. You can also get 5% discount if you spend $5k IIRC.

  • +1

Already got a basically brand new orbital… yet I'm still wanting to buy another just cuz of price. Also got a 54v recipro but that $180ish one is still calling my name. Be nice if it goes OOS soon

  • Saying 'tool only', does that mean it doesn't come with a battery?

    • That's right, no battery.

    • Correct.

    • Yes, Tool or Skin only means no battery.

  • +2

epic deal - got one, thanks op

  • where to get a battery ?

    • The 18v "Australian" batteries work with these.

  • This DeWalt sander was on my wish list for a while now. Ridiculous price. Thanks

  • I love dewalt gear!
How would this go for car paint sanding. Like up to 600grit. Or is it better suited for wood?

    • Sanding off the paint, sure; Polishing car paint, I am very sceptical due to the high RPM.

    • Why are you sanding paint?
If you're not trying to strip the paint, get a polisher. DeWalt make one too and it's pretty good.

      • Was thinking more for sanding bog / filler.

  • Thanks OP, good find, Could not resist one more time given this great price.

  • darn, just bought one 2 weeks ago

    In for one, thanks.

Uh, they're not having any sales on the track saws, are they?

  • +1

Ok that’s my impulse purchase for the day done..

Good stuff OP! Had absolutely no idea I desperately needed one of these until about five minutes ago. Fantastic price to boot!

    • Me too

  • Orbital sander vs sanding multitool attachment

How much better is an orbital

    • +1

Not sure if much difference in model number, but $249 with battery & charger , can sell off the battery n charger for $120

      • +1

Yeah good call- great deal with the 5AH battery!

      • Dang I would have bought one for that price if it was in stock :/

  • I thinking of buying ryobi system.

But so tempting to buy this one, is Dewalt better investment? Need a circular saw down the road as well

    • +2

      Not even comparable.

Buy DeWalt out of those two choices

      • +1

Depends entirely on use case. For the home owner where usage is occasional, the Ryobi is the better choice IMO. Cheaper, wider range of tools on the system and better warranty.

    • Ryobi isn't bad. I've got this sander and the Ryobi 18v sander - the difference so far is pretty small.
My Ryobi stuff is tools I use more rarely (e.g. recip saw) - but have dewalt for more frequently used tools like circ saw.

Sometimes its nice to have two brands, so you can pick up a bargain. I find Ryobi tools are rarely on sale, and Dewalt tools on a good deal can get close to Ryobi prices.

      • I felt the same about Ryobi pricing, so I went Ozito.

    • I am in the Dewalt ecosystem, and when I’m working alongside people with ozito and Ryobi equipment, I do question whether my investment was worth it. They do similar jobs, and sometimes less power actually gives you more control. I can drive screws into hardwood in the blink of an eye … but if you aren’t paying attention, you can make some ugly mistakes (drive in too far, splitting wood, stripping screw heads etc).

If I had my time over, I’d get a cheaper unit, and spend more money on quality driver bits. Other people with Dewalt have told me similar.

Don’t get me wrong, they are great tools … but more power doesn’t mean more control.

      • The Dewalt impact driver has excellent speed control in the trigger, you can crawl that thing along with loads of torque.

Have to use all that power wisely…

    • Dewalt tools are better, but more expensive. Ryobi isn't bad for the price.

  • I was looking at buying a Milwaukee to Makita battery adaptor and saw the dewalt 20v and the Milwaukee 18v battery are the same. Can anyone confirm?

  • Thanks OP, bought one

  • $17.79 for shipping?

    • Join prime around $7 for month and you get free shipping.remember cancel prime membership after.

  • Would this be suitable for sanding a deck or floorboards in my kitchen? Or would a belt sander be better?

    • depending on the surface area..i'd suggest only using these for small jobs.like size of a door. floorboards you're better off with a bigger machines. or else its going to waste a lot of sandpaper and you will be there forever sanding, changing batteries. maybe like 2-3 batteries on a fast charger.

  • Ugh - i didn't need this but got it anyway - ill be able to sand down the wood feature at the front of the house and re-laquer i guess hahaha. I have dewalt batteries / impact drill etc.

  • Review states warranty will be a problem as it's a US model. Can someone please confirm?

    • Shouldn't be unless you want the tool repaired. Amazon won't organise repair of anything or replacement, they just refund the purchase.

  • +1

Just looked at battery prices here in Australia….cheapest I can find is 89 bucks for a 2ah which is nearly as much as the sander! Anyone know a cheaper alternative?

    • Gumtree… or buy a drill from bunnings

    • Check ebay when there are sales/special codes. Or people breaking up a set in gumtree/facebook.
Plenty of fakes around so best to buy from proper Aust business.
Cheapest I paid was $56.00 for 3Ah from Toolsexpress pre covid during on of those ebay sale.

    • buy this combo sell the grinder for $130-$170 n keep the charger n 5ah battery, or go on fb market place plenty selling their negotiate someone down

  • Under the discount amount now… $145.51

  • Mine came today. Nice little thing. I'll be finishing up a project next week and will run it through it's paces. Looks like it will connect to my DeWalt vac, which is a bonus!
