  • Which ver. is this / what digimons are there?

    • +51

How the hell would I know

        • +88

Its not my job to answer questions. Thats not in the t&cs for posting a deal

          • +20

@PAOK11: Ofcourse it's not but you don't have to snap at someone wanting to know more about it. It's not wrong to assume you might know considering you had an interest in posting it.

            • +12

@Gehirn: Was it really a snap, the tone of a comment on the internet is open to interpretation.

"Don't post something if you can't handle questions about it" maybe if you're associated, but otherwise…

              • +6

@eggaz: Yeah I guess the tone of "how the hell would I know" leaves a lot of open interpretation.

You didn't have to reply anything at all if you didn't know.

                • +2

@Gehirn: Disagree, compare this to the Australia ad campaign "where the bloody hell are you", which was a friendly come to Australia message. What was replied above could be in a friendly joking sarcastic way, or as an attack, you assumed the latter was the intended one.

                  • +31

@eggaz: Friends, friends, friends, can't we just talk it out over a $0.20 hamburger in 23 days like real men?

            • +5

@Gehirn: Say it in Homer Simpson's voice. I thought it was a funny rebuff.

        • Never seen an informative post down voted so hard :)

      • looks like v1… i think the exterior of v2 and others are different..
        just my guess

      • Why the hell did you reply then

    • +2

      How would OP know? Haha

    • Does anyone actually know what version this is?

    • seeing screenshot on back cover of box, it should be gen 1 (Teddymon, Agumon, Greymon, etc).

      • +2

These 20th anniversary ones also has up to gen 5 and some extras. https://humulos.com/digimon/dm20/

        • Wait, so it has all 5 gens in 1 single machine itself?

          • +1

            @jianh: Yup.

          • +1

@jianh: And better yet - you look after two monsters at a time in a split-screen kind of fashion. Digivolve them correctly and you can Jogress them together :)

    • +1

It Wave 1 of the re-release of the Digivice

      More info here

  • +5

Randomly press the buttons while in battle because "it helps".

Hah! Everyone knows that you have to HOLD A and C to win.

Would be even cooler if it also had the tab at the bottom so you can cheat and get whatever digimon you wanted.

    • Yeh the cheating kinda ruined it but was cool at the same time

      • +8

It's the only thing that kept me going after my digimon died for the 10th time and/or turned into a piece of shit.

      • +1

All my cheated digimons evolved into poop monsters

        • a Numemon?

They're what you digivolve to if the other criteria weren't met. It's like the 'failsafe' one.
Usually means too many or too few battles.

      • +2

Not really; the calculation for battle outcomes was multi-faceted.
I had a legitimately digivolved Metal Greymon, who was Age 45, and kept on a strict "2 treats + 4 battles a day" regime. (hey, I was in grade 2; what else did I have to obsess over? :P)

This meant mine was very lean, very trained, and also a high tier monster.
Plenty of friends 'cheated' their way to a Mamemon, or a Teddymon; but I never even once lost a battle to them; because as 'cheated' monsters, they had no stats; or the stats were 'garbage' (as in junk data).

'Tabbing' was cool to see what you might get, but it wasn't truly cheating in the way you might think :D

        • +4

          In grade 2?

You must be building fricking rockets by now.

          • +1

@justtoreply: My parents were confused when my chosen reading material in grade 3 was 'Windows for dummies'.
I guess I've just always liked working out technical shiz

        • Do you have a guide that goes into the details of stats and how treat works?

          Looking at this guide: https://humulos.com/digimon/dm20/

But it doesn't go into enough detail

    • Press A A B B A B C to send poison to your opponents

  • thanks OP, but you need to buy more than 2 to get free shipping….

    • +1

      Free shipping with prime membership

      • It shows that I need to pay postage?

      • +3

Apologize my bad it's free with prime membership

    • Title says "Prime" so must be free for prime members.

  • +2

If only they would rerelease this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Pikachu
I assume cant as it has a slot machine mini game, which gamefreak removed from games after 2000.

    • Omg. Childhood memories. I hope I can find it at my parent's

  • Ew gray

  • +5

    Why did I just buy a Digimon…

    • +1

You just made me buy one. Maybe we can battle at ozb meet ups ahah

  • +1

You guys know that you can open the cover and apply a layer of lead from you pencil on the chip, and it can boost the growth speed!?

    • +1

I remember, I used to cut a bit of plastic and put it in there and did some random button pushing and it would straight with something crazy. Man I'm going to buy one for my 4 year old and then I'll just use it.

      • Omg I've been wondering if my (about to turn) 4 year old would get a kick of not out of this.

        • He/she would probably be like this is terrible, what are you going on about these are amazing….dad just give me the console. Haha I bought 2, one of my employees said he'll battle me!

  • anyone wants to du-du-du-duel

  • Good price, I have the full set of 20th anniversary digis

    • This guy would know =]

  • childhood memory

  • If you buy 2 of the same grey one, do you get same digimon or it is like randomly selected and you are stuck with the same digimon?

    • +1

Random based on how you raise it, like feeding, battles, sleep, etc.

      • Oh right. I will get 2 then.

    • +1

regardless of colour, you grow them from an egg. Egg then hatches into Botamon. What the monster grows into depends on how you grow it.

I'm assuming this is Gen 1.

      Evolution chart: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/44/30/41/443041b70532b947dd2a…

      • Yep, but you have to "battle" to grow more right? So if i don't have 2 (or have someone else to "battle" with), I have to get 2 by myself, right?

        • +1

Some digimon can only be got through a certain amount of battles, but you can still grow plenty without.

        • Yes. Need at least 2 unless you're fine with growing it to Stage 3 (Greymon/Darkmon/Meramon/Mumemon etc etc)

All I remember is at Koromon stage, if you starve it (only feed it 1 <3 of food and 1 <3 of vitamin typically), it grows into Betamon. Reversely, it grows into Agumon.

And at Betamon, if you continue to starve it, it grows into Mumemon (pretty useless), however Mumemon is the only path to go into Teddymon (the strongest of all Digimons).

iirc, to go into Metal Greymon/Mamemon/Teddymon, you have to have percentage victory of over 50%, and a minimum set number of battles fought (dunno how many).

          • +1

@jianh: Yeah, I had a brief look at the chart and realised I need to battle . Thanks for the info! :)

            • +1

@lyoo01: no worries just refreshing childhood memory.

  • Can you just play by yourself and not duel with others?

    • Its always better with a "friend"

      • Do i need to buy 2 to even play by myself? Or can you like battle with computer…?

        • You guys sure like to play with yourselves.

        • buy 2 and you can play left hand vs right hand

still counts as "play by myself" ?

          • @jianh: Use your left hand, it's like someone else is doing it

    • The device is meant to encourage making friends, not a sales strategy.

  • Translucent blue $17

    • Yeah I got that and grey one haha - the cheapest two.

  • Anyone know if the packaging is different to Australian ones?

    • Ours also are multilingual packaging so should be the same.

  • +1

Anyone remember having the digivice you'd have to shake (or walk around) to get steps to clear the area and go fight the next boss?

All those poor teachers who had to watch me and the rest of the class shake away under our desks.

    Sorry Mr Wyatt.

    • +2

I had the swipe card one and scanning one.

Unfortunately one of them was stolen at school…

    • +1

Those are actually really expensive right now on ebay.

    • yes. built great muscle.

  • Randomly press the buttons while in battle because "it helps".

    I love this part.

  • Right in the nostalgia.

  • what battery does it require? Is it still 2 x LR44 per machine?

    • +1

      Single CR2032

      • Also should include it, if it's like the ones we got here.

  • I just bought one, take me back to grade 4 already!!! why am i like this

    • Nostalgia's a helluva drug

  • Holy flashback Batman. Pretty sure I've still got my original ones from the 90s somewhere. I wonder if these ones are compatible with the original ones?

    • I used to have one that looked exactly like this 20ish years ago!

    • Yeah, the new ones can battle with the original ones.

Also the original ones can be worth quite a bit of money.

  • Me and the Mrs were just telling kids about Digimon the other week, didn't think I'd be buying 2x.. hopefully the kids find time to use it, when the adults aren't..

  • +1

Don't know why but I bought one cuz it's cheap and free shipping with Prime.

  • Thanks OP.

It's just a shame that the grey ones always make me look fat…

  • OOS? Showing $20.87
