  • Thanks. Bought one from my local bunnings.

I bought one today at the Capalaba store. Two guys at the tool counter said that they had a few returned with faulty water hose connections (hose blowing off) but after they spoke to a Makita rep they were told that it is just really hard to push on correctly, need to hear two clicks. They took it out of the box and showed me and it was bloody hard to get on, bad design. Otherwise it seems a good little unit for $57.

    • Thanks for letting us know about the second click. Really hard to get on, but the hold is solid after the 2nd click. Was really worried that I have to return the unit. Cause apart from that issue, it had alot of feature I like.

      • Where abouts is this connection? Have since purchased one and am currently setting it up.

Am thinking of buying one first thing tomorrow morning. Due to the close proximity of my neighbours I am a little concerned about the noise levels. My work has a few petrol powered water blasters that are as loud as a exhaustless motorbike broadcasting into a megaphone. These are too loud to use at my house so I was hoping that the Makita might be a bit more neighbour friendly.

Can anyone please confirm that they sound like a loud vacuum cleaner similar to this video: http://youtu.be/YEBzd01VWeE?

Mine is about as loud as an average lawn mower.

Mine sounds exactly like the one in the video clip. Is it loud - I think so and louder than a vacuum cleaner, but some others here don't share the opinion. It does work pretty well!

    • Thanks for the info guys, bought one this morning. It is quiet enough to use in the side of my yard (the neighbours house is 2 metres from mine). Aside from the fiddley connector, great deal for the price!

  • Bought the last 2 at Lidcombe thinking it will give me twice the pressure but …

  • I took a trip across town and got the Scorpion @ Masters.
The price on the shelf noted it was an everyday price, $58.
Its very light, 4.4kg and quiet imo (quieter than my Karcher).
    Only a 3m hose, not 5m.
Automatic Total Stop System (TSS) which switches the motor on and off when the lance trigger is operated.
Twist the end nozzle to vary the spray from a narrow pencil like beam to a wide spray.
Detergent attachment connects to the lance when you pull off the spray arm.
Not as powerful as the Karcher I have but about a quarter of the price.
I wouldnt suggest it for cleaning a large dirty driveway, it would do it but would take a while.
Better off hiring something for that.
With the narrow beam I had no problems "writing" on the concrete.
Cleaned the underside of the patio roof and gutters no problems.

I would never use one of these to clean the car on its own and expect a decent job.
Its ideal to wet the car and then maybe use the detergent attachment to suds it up and maybe loosen the dirt.
Then I'd wash with a sponge and use the pressure washer to rinse it all off.
    Chamois dry!

    Overall, well worth the $58
And I didnt want to waste my time filling a bucket to see it draws from that :P

    • Ha yes but can it draw from a bucket?

    Adelaide buyers are in luck!
Bunnings Mile End just sold me one for $57 on production of the copy of the page I posted above.
But I forgot to make sure that they did the 10% discount - the salesman said they would, but the checkout guy forgot :(

    • i rang Parafield Bunnings and they have put one on hold for me for the same price..

  • I just bought one from Bunnings in Box Hil Vic - they have a stack as soon as you walk in the main door. I returned the Karcher I bought on Friday for $133 and bought the Makita today for $57.

  • fyi. non in artarmon nsw

  • Just used this on our driveway which was caked in moss. Works very well but I wish it had the straight spray instead of the round spray if you get what I mean.

Edit, I didn't have any water problems. I tightened everything up and it worked perfectly.

    • Can't you just use the adjustable connector? The one with the metal head if you turn it, it brings the metal pieces together and makes a straight spray

  • I was at artarmon bunnings this morning. There were 17 in the tool shop section a couple of isles down from where the high pressure are. Stumbled across them as when I was trying to find someone to ask their whereabouts.

    • thanks. assume sold out as found non at the entrance nor any at the pressure-washer special section and isle.

      • I work around the corner so pulled in. 15 sitting in the tool shop section (where the drills etc are). Not with the other high pressure cleaners.

    Here's a tip for everyone:
With the Automatic Total Stop System (TSS) (and this applies to any brand/model that stops the motor when the trigger is released) try to keep it on continuous runs, and don't stop and start it every 10 seconds. Common cause of motor/pump issues.

  • Mill park had a pallet full, still tagged at 99 scanned at 57, they are hidden away on the side..
No problems with leaking hoses or two click connections for me, it just worked

  • Look at ebay, lots of them being sold already and what a markup.

  • quite dear on ebay…I am going to Bunnings to get this one..
