    From the last thread:

I'm sorry but I think you could get a pair of another brand at 1/4 - 1/3 of the price of these that sound at twice as good

I'd be keen to hear recommendations that meet this criteria. To keep things fair, they must be wireless and ANC.

Of course they can't provide any, it's just to collect upvotes from the haters. The best they can do is probably the Sony mk4s but I'll eat my hat if they can find new ones for $150. The Sonys aren't twice as good at SQ either, probably the best they can do is get somewhat close.

To be fair to them, these are not good value for money, but the truth is that neither are the competition at this price point (B&Os for example.)

Sennheiser Momentum 3 demolishes these in SQ (ANC / transparency mode aren't as good though). I paid $300 for these at JB Hi-Fi a couple of months ago.

B&O H8i are comparable in SQ (same drivers as the H9i), the ANC is very decent as well and I love the compact form factor. I paid $220 for these at JB a couple of weeks ago.

Both of the above are luxury headphones made of premium materials that will last for years. I think you'd need to be a real Apple fan to buy the Airpods Max at this price (let alone the full RRP).

Momentum 3 are v-shaped headphones. Have a look how far they stray from the harman curve in bass and treble:

Certainly not bad headphones (quite excellent if you're into hip-hop / electronic - which is what the whole momentum range was aimed at by the way), but certainly not as versatile as the APM.
The APM has excellent bass and mids, with slightly recessed treble - ideal tuning for long listening sessions.

I'm a huge Sennheiser fanboy with 5 different headphones from them and a number of their in-ear products, but I would personally prefer the APM over the M3s.

Mac Mini would only be an extra $300.

  • I tried this at Apple Store yesterday and the headphone is very good. I can’t afford it though. For someone that’s not an expert like me, the sony xm4 is a good option.

Yep, or don't want spatial audio/Apple fast switch to devices etc. QC35 is a great alternative if you don't care about most things from a premium set of cans:

my xm3's swap between my ipad and iphone rather quickly. definitely not a sore point at all.

So do my old Bose QC35, the thing is that it can auto pair to multiple devices at the same time, and through your apple iphone or apple tv you can choose the headphones as an output device. For sure you can survive but just more of a convenience factor. Once your headphones are paired to an Apple account, it can connect to all apple devices.

          • @onlinepred: Oh yeah. I totally get it, as I also have airpods. But the difference is super minimal to me.

      • All headphones can use spatial audio.
The only advantage Apple devices have if you can set them to "auto", so if a track is available as spatial then it will automatically play it as such.

The way the prices keep dropping on these, I fully expect them to be the next homepod.

This is an overpriced product worth ~450… Well 500 if we include apple tax.

  • I bought this for a family member. The stock I have received today from Mobileciti/Wireless1 is actually a grey import meant for the Malaysian market.

After pairing the device to an iPhone, I checked the serial number on: https://checkcoverage.apple.com/au/en/, and I notice that it still states:
    Purchase Date not Validated

This is kind of normal when buying Apple products from a reseller.
However, what caught my eye is the sticker on the box, which starts in English as "For Malaysia:".

    But hold on: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/90sAAOSwPlFgUfIj/s-l1600.jpg
The key image on their eBay listing clearly states: "AU Stock & Warranty".
