[WA] Dr Pepper 24x 355ml $29.99 @ Costco Perth (Membership Required)

170

While not the cheapest, it's a far cry better than $2 a can @ Coles.

Not sure if this is a nation wide thing I couldn't find it online.

Also, anyone know where to get a syrup or Dr Pete locally? Or internationally for a bargain price?

  • Been looking for A&W root beer but it seems Costco is out of stock. Looks like Dr Pepper it is.

    • They haven't had A&W for months and when they do have it it's gone in a day. Maybe they're having trouble importing right now

    • Maybe try spudshed.

  • anyone know where to get a syrup or Dr Pete locally? Or internationally for a bargain price?

Nope. And SodaStream don’t want me emailing them anymore asking either :(

    • Hahaha I've been doing the same

    • Do you drink it hot?

  • OP: cane sugar or HFCS? Deal breaker for some…

    • This is HFCS based on packaging and bring sold by Costco. Coles sells the UK version with sugar.

      • I thought Coles sold the inferior USA one. The certainly did at all my locals.
We have a USA food store near us and I bought the 4 pack, glass bottle, old timey look Dr Pepper made with real sugar. Just beautiful.

Actually, i'm wrong. It's Woolworths which stocks it. Coles lists both versions on their site though I don't remember seeing it in store.

Here's the Woolworth's product link where you can check which stores stock it.

Maybe I'm crazy but I think the us one tastes way better …

        • It's that classic 'one man's trash is another's treasure' situation.

I think the HFCS US one is miles better than the cane sugar UK one too (to the point where my brain thinks they're a completely different drink).

That being said, the UK one is partially artificially flavoured with aspartame these days due to the UK's sugar tax. Maybe that's why, but for some reason; I don't think it is as my opinion dates back pre-sugar tax.

  • Dr Pete locally

    I miss that guy. :(

  • Spud Shed has 12 ctns for $12. Will come down to $7.99 soon, as stock has been sitting for a while

  • Does anyone know if this is the UK dr pepper or the US dr pepper? The UK has less sugar I usually stay away from the US version.

    • They both have ridiculously high amounts of sugar but this is the US version with HFCS.

I prefer Diet but by the time the stock comes here it's very close to best before and the taste disappears entirely.

      • The non HFCS, diet Dr Pepper is amazing and almost impossible to buy.

        • My IGA have it. (Have heaps of Dr Pepper varieties)

          • @gimli: Mmm, got an IGA about 1.3 minutes from me. My local IGA seems to go through phases of having American stuff and then nothing so I stopped checking.

        • I once had a supplier who had Diet Dr Pepper, Cherry Diet Dr Pepper, Vanilla Float Diet Dr Pepper..! I would stock up on cases (10+ at a time) but by the time you get to the last few the sweeter has disappeared and you're basically drinking soda water. You can validate the date codes online and check how old they are, but anything more than 90 days is pushing it and that's often what we're getting.

I’ve always preferred the USA version. UK is good enough since it seems easier to find.

high fructose corn syrup in USA version makes it tase so much better!
