Hey a deal's a deal! If the price is getting better for the consumer to buy in then why not? And for those who have already taken up on it, they will be informed when their at a good or better price for them to pick up another.

No one's losing out on seeing this posted.

The previous one expired…… Now there is a new one. Please post a link to where you can buy it cheaper.

I don't mind seeing posts like this regularly : )

I agree, it is still a good deal for what it is.
Still a grey area and can see where both sides are coming from :)

Thanks for speaking on my behalf /sarcasm

Comes to AUD$162.07 using amazon currency converter (for delivery to Melbourne).

  • What is the go with warranty returns?

    • +5

      Return to amazon in USA

      • Thanks. Damn cheap so ordered anyway.

        • Can you deal with Crucial directly instead of Amazon if there is an issue?

        • if it is outside of the amazon 30 day warranty then you will probably need to deal with crucial directly.

  • Been keeping an eye on it and finally caved earlier this morning when the price came back down. Worked out to $159.91 in my bankmecu account (no Amazon currency conversion).

Make sure you guys keep posting when I make my new build. Unfortunately it wont be for a while - have to save up.

  • Makes me think a wiki for Amazon would be cool, you just keep updating the prices with products that Amazon sell that are very cheap for Australia.

  • Posted higher up.

    Ordered :)
Missed out the other day so happy to see this come up. $318.34 for two delivered (one for me, one for the girlfriend) using amazon converter to pay in AUD. Just under $160each good deal compared to at least $220 in Oz

too late for valentine gift if it's what you mean :O

    • Define 'crap' please… It might help us.

if you are talking in opposite terms.. yeah.

    • ??

  • A question for anyone who has ordered recently (Feb) and received the drive - which firmware did it ship with?

Amazon is Unbelievable! She is my favorite seller now…

They gave me a post-sales-refund of almost $9 just now because i bought my ssd for 169.95 5 days ago…

    • +1

^^ THAT is how you OzBargain.

    • I'm in live chat with amazon right now. They want me to wait another week for it to arrive, only to send it right back, wait another week for it to get to amazon, then another two weeks before (probably) the same hdd would arrive at my door.
      For a $10 refund… F*cking ridiculous.
I've always heard good things about amazon, but this really makes me sad.

For anyone else thinking it's a guaranteed refund, it's not. I was perfectly civil, and mentioned that I know people who did the exact same thing, and he still refused to help.

Edit: Wish I'd taken a screenshot.

        My reply was
        Hello,

I'm sure it's disappointing to see the lower price on the Crucial Solid State Drive you recently purchased. Our prices regularly change, and the price you paid when your order shipped was the lowest price we were able to offer at the time.

You can visit our pricing policies in our Help pages to read more:

        http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=4…

Although prices fluctuate, our service does not. I hope you'll give us another opportunity to serve you in the future.

Thank you for your inquiry. Did I solve your problem?

I was also being completely civil and even used large complex words to see If I would get a better response, but I guess social engineering your way to a refund in difference doesn't work.

        • Got the same email. I just can't believe the only solution was to return it and wait a month. Like anyone would do that…

Does Amazon ship the CRUCIAL brand directly to Australia?

They have the OCZ 90GB for $99 today as the GOLD BOX deal, but it doesn't ship directly to Australia.
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/

    • Yes they ship Crucial direct to Australia. Not sure why the OCZ drive isn't, maybe Gold Box deals aren't available to Australia?

  • Thanks, OP - ordered :D

    • Me too. If the price goes down again perhaps I'll get another one.

  • +4

Once you go SSD you won't want to go back. The speed increase is phenomenal!

  • Took the plunge and got one instead of holding out longer. Thanks OP

  • Spent so much lately… But missed out on the 157 one. Ugh, should I? :D

    • +5

Get one, you should. jedi mind trick

  • Great deal, I will definitely buy one soon if they keep dropping at this rate :)

  • -1

Good price gonna wait till price drops further, I'd rather not be an early adopter.

  • +1

When is 256GB going to drop?

  • Cant believe how much these have been dropping over the past few weeks.

I purchase 2 about 6 months ago for $185 and thought that was a great price now about 1 months ago i purchase another 2 for $180 each.

Running 4 in raid0 not one issue.

    • Wow! what sorta speeds do you get?

  • Can it be plugged in a Lenovo X61 (SATA)? Also, running Windows XP Pro is OK? As it does not have TRIM like Win 7

  • +2

Will give '+' votes till the price drops to $100 and then buy one myself.

  • Good stuff, just ordered one from Amazon. Shopped for another PSU, some RAMs and a flash drive (lost mine in the Uni library today after left it on the public computer and somebody just took it…), much cheaper than the local dealers such as PCCG or MSY.

    Postage is minimum.

The only thing is that they wouldn't ship motherboard nor CPU cooler to Australia :(, it's more than 40 dollars saving on an ASUS Z68 Pro Gen 3 board… looks like I have to get it from MSY

    • Would it be a good idea to get a PSU from the US? I thought because their outlets are different voltage that might cause an issue….

      • Most support woldwide voltages (some have a tiny selector switch for this and others are automatic). It's possibly not a good idea to get from overseas for a different reason - PSUs are much larger and heavier than SSDs, and unless the warranty is international it'd cost a fortune to return.

      • Yes, since as it's input voltage is from 90-264, auto range.

I just hope it won't fault, though it's a quality one.

  • Crucial.com is saying this SSD (CT128M4SSD2) is not compatable with the Lenovo T420. Anyone running one of these on their T420 from this deal? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/52289?page=1

    • Kidding?… Link please..

    • Crucial says it's compatible with CT1725871
      http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=807BF1A…

But I can't see ay difference between that and CT128M4SSD2?

      • Thanks nickbose. Makes me feel better. It was a heart breaking experience while seeing this SSD is not compatible with T420 when it is on the way to Oceania…

      • Thanks - that link was what I looked at quickly yesterday before ordering and then realised looking again today that they aren't one and the same. Having a closer look on Crucial website just now, the difference appears that the one you linked to is 7mm in height and the Amazon one is 9.5mm .

The 7mm states "•Designed for slimmer mobile systems".

I'm going to rip out the CDROM and replace it with a caddy off Ebay and hoping that the size difference isn't going to matter.

This is the reply from Crucial

Thank you for contacting Crucial. I have checked your system, ThinkPad X61 Series (All Types). Your system is compatible with the CT128M4SSD2. The external part number, CT1725871, is the same as base part number CT128M4SSD2. I have put the link to your system in below and you can see that this SSD is on the list.

          http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?model=ThinkPad+X61+Series+(All+Types)

        • nickbose - While I appreciate the follow up - my non-technical knowkledge (sic) of computers tells me that the X61 is not the same computer as the T420.

Compatability check returns the following "This part CT128M4SSD2 is not compatible. View compatible parts for the ThinkPad T420."

When you click on the compatible link - "CT2556089" comes up showing clealy its a "(7mm)" drive.

The reply from Crucial doesn't gel with their web specs showing a difference in height between the two. They may be essentially the same thing inside, but everything is saying the outside height is different by 2.5mm. My order is on the way - could have cancelled it yesterday but decided just to try my luck when it arrives.

  • why is everyone so keen on this Crucial model, rather than say OCZ, which camelcamelcamel says has gone cheaper again: http://camelcamelcamel.com/OCZ-Technology-Agility-2-5-Inch-A…

  • This is amazing.
The list price is currently $US162.99

Shipping is so cheaper, I ordered and paid $A164.94, shipped (Due 1-16 March).

I suspect this will end up costing me a fortune though - will end up upgrading several PC's, motherboards & OS, to take full advantage.
