The IdeaPad Pro is a different beast to the regular variety with much better quality, such as full aluminum chassis and QHD 120hz 100% SRGB screen option compared to the regular variety I posted earlier.

Now there are two colour configurations (Storm Grey and Cloud Grey) with slightly different specs and prices. I spoke to the sales rep online and they advised me that delivery would be 6 to 8 weeks depending on the custom configuration.

If you select the "Storm Grey" colour configuration, you get access to the Nvidia 3050. If you select the "Cloud Grey", you get access to only the Nvidia 1650.

        @Sid04: After a call today they had no idea and told me to wait for them to ask someone else and they would send me an email. I then got the email 8hrs later basically saying they couldn't estimate the time and "The plant team are unable to provide an estimated ship date at the moment but the order has little chance to ship this month" then give the option to call again or get a refund.

  In terms of build quality they are similar with aluminum chassis.
  
  The Legion 5 Pro is designed for gaming and has better specs, but is bigger and heaver. Starting at 2.45kg
  
  It also has a 300W power supply.
  
  The IdeaPad Slim 5 Pro 16 is designed for portability with gaming capability. Hence it is slimmer and has a weight up to 1.9kg.
  
  The power brick is also smaller if you buy one of the versions with the dGPU.
  
  The CPU and GPU in the Legion will perform better, because there is more breathing room in the bigger chassis and it has cooling for a gaming laptop, compared to the Slim 5 Pro 16.

  Honestly it comes down to the applications you use. If you are used to Mac, get the M1. If you use Windows or another operating system get this deal, because CPU in this laptop is one of the fastest you can get and is better then the M1 in multi-threaded workloads, whilst the M1 is slightly faster in single-threaded workloads.
  
  If you add the dGPU it will also benefit in hardware acceleration with certain video editing applications.

      I am not sure where you get this idea from. There are approximately 8 different types of Apple laptops, which you can configure. There are 1000s of different Windows/Other OS laptop configurations. If you are a professional photographer or video editor, it is still recommended to calibrate the display using a tool such as the Datacolor Spider, whether it be a PC or Mac, to suit your individual needs. Due to the 1000s of Windows laptop configurations, you will have lower price laptops, with lower quality screens. One you go up in price points, you will have better screens. Some of these screens have been per-calibrated at the factory for professional level colour accuracy. It still doesn't mean that you should not calibrate it yourself, considering a Datacolor Spider is relatively inexpensive to obtain, if the quality of your work depends on it.

        @haz23: Is there any alternative to this laptop? From the research I've done, no laptop offers the all-round features/capability and looks/build of the Ideapad Slim 5 Pro at this price or even sub $2000. Cause I don't think I can wait over 2 months from now to have it shipped out….

        @haz23: Trust the dates to not change since making that comment haha….it is a little concerning that it hasn't changed. The current date for the laptop (if you were to order now) states ships in 7 weeks which brings it to the end of September, so not sure why ours still states expected ship end of October, particularly when we've already waited 3 weeks. In terms of other laptops, yeah I haven't come across any, particularly at this price range. Most have pretty dire 45% NTSC screens etc

        @beaver2233: Yeah exactly, I remember when I put my order through it said it'd ship in 3 weeks which never happened. As long as there's a shipment this month, we should hopefully have our laptops on it. Cause the people who already got their laptops mentioned that their ship dates changed from December to the end of July within a day, so fingers crossed that happens to us. And yeah the only one I've seen that is similar is https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-laptops/new-inspiron-16… but it's about $500 more.

        @haz23: Yeah fingers crossed - if I login and go into my order history it has all the order info with "ships within 3 weeks". Today marks the 3 weeks and I haven't even received an email or anything of the sort indicating there is a delay. Quite poor if you ask me. Luckily I have no urgent need for it.
